A Jolly Good Time

While Victoria was covering the royal wedding from Buckingham, Ryan  and Raff almost had a better view, especially Raff from atop Ryan's shoulders! They were about thirty feet from the carriage when the  newlyweds rode by. Raff swears that he and HRH Catherine made eye contact and that she gave him a special wave. You can see by the [...]

September is Right Around The Corner!

I've been in cell phone hell!!!  Which is what I should have titled this book!  Because that's what it's been to write.  Cell phones have done more to destroy good plots than any other single thing I can think of.  Just when I've devised ways and means for my characters to remain in touch, but [...]

2011 Elf Recipient & More

I'm pleased to announce this year's ELF recipient, Bill Hamlett.  He's a rising junior writing student at  TCU with a 3.99 GPA who wowed the impartial, outside judges with his portfolio of fiction.  I commend his hard work and look forward to meeting him personally on March 29th at an official Creative Writing Awards ceremony [...]

And The Oscar Goes To….

Sunday night is Oscar night, one of Michael's and my favorite nights of the year. We're especially excited this year because there have been so many exceptionally good movies. I'm pulling for the best odds picks. Natalie Portman for "Black Swan," and Colin Firth for "The King's Speech." Both are brilliant performances. I also favor [...]

What's Your Poison?

Ryan and I are at the Savannah Book Festival and having a grand time!  If you're in the area, I hope you get a chance to stop by.   In the mean time, Leopold's Ice Cream has decided to honor  the book festival with it's very own flavor–what  a treat!  (Pun intended).  And they've temporarily renamed all [...]

Blessed

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the office, er house, Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse — and thank goodness for that! The manuscripts were backed up (off-site even) with tender care, Just in case my favorite computer geek wasn't anywhere near. The muses were nestled all snug in their [...]

Napoleonic Influence

Michael and I received a most unusual gift from our good friends Bobbie and Bill Marshall. Have you ever heard of opening a bottle of champagne with a saber? It was a tradition begun by Napoleon Bonaparte. He said that in victory one deserves champagne and, in defeat, requires it. Not a bad motto! Anyway, he [...]

DVR Alert!

We Browns will be well represented on the air waves this week! Tonight my episode of Hardcover Mysteries on Investigation Discovery (check your local tv listings for the channel) will air at 9:00 P.M. Eastern time. I've previewed the episode. Even though I knew the story and it's outcome, I was drawn into the production. [...]
