MY Favorite

Of all the books I read, which were many, researching the Vietnam War for "The Five O'Clock Follies," this was my favorite: "Once Upon a Distant War."
William Prochnau, who died last month, was the ultimate reporter's reporter.

Finding out what happens

I said something like this a day or so ago in answer to a reader question of why I write.
Elmore Leonard says it better:

"To know too much at the start takes the pleasure out of discovering what the book is about.”

–Elmore Leonard, “Making It Up As I Go Along,”

Flying Jenny Launch

This was such a fun book to write. It's launching April 28 from the Jefferson Market branch of the New York Public Library in Greenwich Village. Posted the event today, hope everyone will come to hear me read and have toast Jenny Flynn with a glass of wine.
See you there.

Willa Cather

Funny coincidence. The GoodReads quiz question for today is in which state is Willa Cather's My Antonia set.
I'd say the Jefferson Market Library in Greenwich Village. I'll be reading from my Flying Jenny in the Villa Cather Room of the New York Public Library on April 28 at 3 p.m.
Come on over.
A fun romp set in 1929 with a female reporter and a debutante stunt pilot.
