Sunday Purrs of Wisdom: Take Time for Yourself
We all have busy lives, and there are days when it feels like we’ll never get everything done. For most people, the first thing to fall by the wayside during busy times is time for yourself. I’ve never met a cat who says”I’m too busy to take a moment to stretch in the sun.” Why can’t we be more cat like when it comes to taking care of ourselves?

Mews and Nips: Pet-Friendly College Dorm is Home to 100 Cats
I didn’t have cats until after I graduated college, but this time of year, I often think about how hard it must be for students to leave their cats behind when they go back to school. Students at SUNY Canton in northern New York don’t have to make that choice: the college has a pet-friendly residence hall where 100 cats live with their students. Each student is allowed one pet. The college doubled its pet-friendly rooms this year. For more about this program, please visit NYUp.com.

Review: Domino’s Journey
In the late 1990s two women began feeding the stray cats and kittens of Hobe Sound, Florida. Next they enlisted local veterinarians to spay, neuter, and vaccinate them. When a nearly tragic event occurred to one very special cat, the women realized these animals needed a home—a sanctuary—where they could be loved and cared for. The result is Domino’s House, now located in Palm City, Florida. In Domino’s Journey, Janis Mullen offers a heart-touching account of one cat’s adventures and the cre...

It’s Kitty O’Clock Somewhere!
Guest post by Clea Simon
Cats understand book time.
You know how felines are – the way they’ll rush around madly, only to suddenly plop down for an hours-long nap. Their insistence that they are starving and must be fed immediately, only to be sated a few licks, finishing up a split second later – or distracted by a passing shadow.
Book time is like that. It starts with an adrenaline spurt – that first geyser of inspiration – as the ideas, the characters, and the bits of dialogue burst forth...

Stella McCartney’s Fall Collection Goes Wild for Cats
British fashion designer Stella McCartney, the daughter of former Beatle Paul MCartney and American musician, photographer and animal activist Linda McCartney, has launched a new fall line that has gone to the cats!
The line features cat-portrait tapestry fabrics on skirts, dresses, a tailored coat, a ’70s-style football-jumper, a blouse and a silk dress. There are also plenty of animal patterned accessories and even a cat carrier. The designer is clearly having fun with these designs, and e...

Is Chemotherapy the Right Choice for Your Cat?
Finding out that a beloved cat has cancer is heartbreaking for cat parents. The sad reality is that cancer is one of the leading causes of death in older cats. According to the Animal Cancer Foundation, 6 million cats will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States along. However, a cancer diagnosis does not have to be the end of the road. In fact, just like with humans, treatment is often possible, and chemotherapy may be one option that can allow your cat to live comfortably for many mo...

Conscious Cat Sunday: Who’s In Charge of Your Smartphone?
I couldn’t imagine life without my iPhone. I use it to check my email, search the internet, monitor the weather, give me driving directions, do my banking, make restaurant reservations, and, of course, take lots of photos of Allegra and Ruby. In fact, I still sometimes marvel at all the things one small device can do, and how it’s made my life easier in so many ways. But as awesome as it is to have all this power in the palm of my hand, it’s also a bit disconcerting just how much I’ve come t...
