love-and-above-cat-club

Guest post by Siena Lee-Tajiri

A note from Ingrid: Last week, I introduced you to the Love and Above Cat Club. Please welcome creator and founder Siena Lee-Tajiri, who will be contributing a monthly Sunday column.

2014. Las Vegas, Nevada. SuperZoo pet industry tradeshow. I exited a crowd of Jackson Galaxy fans who were excitedly waiting to meet him so I could steal a moment of calm and a bit of fresh air. Almost like a magnet, I immediately zoomed in on a vision wearing “pet power” purple. Ami...

Mews and Nips: Mick Jagger Welcomes Black Cat to His Family

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Mick Jagger (@mickjagger)

I had no idea Mick Jagger was a cat lover! Earlier this week, the Rolling Stones front man introduced new family member Nero to his Instagram followers. I didn’t think I needed another reason to love Sir Mick, but there you have it.

If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Sunday, we introduced you to the Love and Above Cat Club, on ...

Review: Immortal Cat

Immortal-Cat-

I came across Immortal Cat because our friends at the 5050 Company designed the cover. It’s a little outside the range of genres I normally read, and I’m not entirely sure how to classify it. Amazon has it listed under Coming of Age Fiction, Humorous Dark Comedy, and Technothrillers. I enjoy coming of age stories, but I never had any interest in the latter two categories. However, I’m really glad I gave this book a chance.

From the publisher:

Giveaway: Supakit Cat Harness and Leash

cat-harness-leash

This giveaway is sponsored by Supakit

While there is no question that indoor cats live longer and healthier lives, if you feel strongly that your cat should have access to the outdoors, there are safe ways to provide this. Leash training is one way to allow cats to safely enjoy being outside. For some cats, safe outdoor excursions can help prevent behavior problems by stimulating them and helping them burn off excess energy. Leash training can also come in handy during trips to the veterinaria...

Allegra’s World: The Coffee Table Makeover

coffee-table-makeover-cat

Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! I want to tell you about something really cool that happened at our house a couple of weeks ago.

It started with Mom draping our sofa, loveseat and rocking chair in sheets. How interesting! I had never seen her do that before. Next thing I know, she turns the coffee table upside down. Now this was even more interesting. What on earth was she going to do?

Then she brought out all sorts of things: brushes, a can full of white stuff, gloves, a rolly thing in a plastic ...

Review: Eusoh Community Health Plan

cat-insurance-pet-insurance

This is a sponsored post and contains affiliate links*

EUSOH is a community health sharing plan that reimburses pet parents for veterinary expenses. Unlike traditional pet insurance, pet parents join groups and fund each other’s veterinary costs.

I’m a firm proponent of pet insurance. For me, the bottom line is that if you can’t afford an unexpected $1000 or $2000 for a medical emergency, or even more for a chronic serious illness, you owe it to yourself and your cats to consider options that ...

Not One More Vet: Suicide Among Veterinarians

not-one-more-vet

When you take your cat to your vet and see his or her smiling face (even if it’s just on a screen or behind a mask right now,) as he or she cares for your cat, the last thing you probably think about is that this kind and compassionate person is at a higher than normal risk of suicide. The sad reality is that suicide in the veterinary profession has been a growing concern for quite some time.

A crisis that few people know of or understand

In 2019, the CDC released the first study to ever exami...

love-and-above-cat-club-self-care-cat-lovers

“Love yourself like you love your cat.”

I have something a little different for you this Sunday. I’d like to introduce you to a new website, Love and Above Cat Club, created by my dear friend Siena Lee-Tajiri. Siena has an impressive background. She holds a Masters Degree in Holistic Health, certification in many holistic therapies, and she has been working with Jackson Galaxy since 2009. In fact, she was Jackson’s first employee! She is a musician, and, of course, a huge cat lover.

Mews and Nips: Kitten Found Hiding Under Leaves Blossoms Into Magnificent, Confident Cat

cat-leaves-rescue

A Montreal couple was on their way to cat rescue group Chatons Orphelins Montréal when they noticed something moving under a pile of leaves by the side of the road. When they took a closer look, they found a kitten hiding in the dirt. The little stray was cold and afraid. They immediately notified the rescue, and a member of the group dropped everything and rescued the kitten. After being vetted and placed in a foster home where he was socialized and allowed to gain his confidence, the gorgeou...
