Self-Publishing Answers Podcast: Episode 5 – What Works for You?

When you market your book, think about this first: what works on you?

Don’t do things that don’t work… do things thatdo work.

It’s not a difficult concept, but it can still be a little confusing to try to wade through all of the “proven” marketing strategies that are out there. In this episode we look at ways to determine what “works” for you, and I answer a reader question about online bookstores and which is right (or wrong) for her book.

Don’t forget to write an iTunes review!

$100 Startup – Chris Guillebeau
Techniques of the Selling Writer – Dwight Swain

Self Publishing Answers Podcast: Episode 3 – You Dont Need An MBA...You don’t need an MBA, but you do need to be an entrepreneur.

This episode looks at the importance of “running your writing business,” even we we, as authors, don’t want to anything other than write. Your writingis your business, so you should take it seriously and build systems, set goals, and measure progress.

If this all sounds boring, well, then, just wait for the question at the end: “How would you produce a book for $500?”

Enjoy the show! Also, I’m getting ti...

LiveHacked.com 2014 Reader Survey

Advertise here with Beacon Ads

It’s time, again, to do another survey.

Last year, I ran a short survey and sent it out to my mailing subscribers. It went well — over 100 responses in all, but I think we can do much better this year.

I used the information collected to answer a few key questions:

Who’s reading the blog/updates?
Why are they interested in what I have to say?

This year I’d like to ask some of the same questions, but with a few different goals:

Is a blogstill the best way to present in...

I had the pleasure of interviewing two amazing young men not too long ago: Seth and Chandler Bolt.

You may have heard of at least one of the Bolts through his band, NEEDTOBREATHE:

NEEDTOBREATHE – Something Beautiful

Anyway, they (the Brothers Bolt) wrote a book.

In a week.

That’s right — 370 pages, 7 days.

What could you do with that sort of focus, energy, and productivity?

The interview we did was recorded from Screenflow, my favorite Mac-based screen-recording app, a...

A Great Reason You Should Self-Publish Your Book…

…Is that you get to be in fullcontrol of the process.

You get the final say in cover design, editing, formatting, layout, and everything else related to your book’s release. Don’t like the back cover font? Change it.

Don’t care for the way your author image appears on the back flap? Change it.

Finally, you get to control an entire process — from start to finish — and release it into the world. What else in your life do you have full, unhindered controlover?

“No Time” is No Excuse

Advertise here with Beacon Ads

“No Time is No Excuse“I’m busy” - is the most common excuse that most people use when they can’t get started with their writing. Even if they have set their goals and know how to achieve it they still fail in putting it into action. Time is abundant but the problem is you tend to invest it elsewhere.

If you want to become a successful writer, you make a choice. If you fail, it is your fault. You cannot blame your failure for not having sufficient time to write because, believe me, y...
