Tao Te Ching 16: Return to the Source
- 16 -
If you can empty your mind of all thoughts,
your heart will know the tranquility of peace.
Watch the endless rush of worldly beings,
yet contemplate their return to the Source.
Each being in the universe
returns to the common Source.
To return to the Source is to find peace.
To find peace is to fulfil one’s destiny.
To fulfil one’s destiny is to be constant.
To know the constant is to be enlightened.
Not knowing this leads to eternal sorrow.
Being at one with the Tao,
you naturally become impartial...

Eladria: Book trailer, pre-launch and blog tour request!
Hey guys, it’s been a tremendously busy time as I’ve been gearing up for the publication of my first novel,Eladria.
Although I’ve been preparing for months and the publisher has done all the groundwork, there’s still been a heck of a lot to do. But it’s all coming together and I am really pleased and excited. A number of people already have the book even though it’s not officially published for another 9 days. Amazon obviously decided it was too good to keep sitting in their warehouses so they...

Roryisms: Busyness, power naps, Erik Satie & a society that’s totally wrong
The minimalistic music of composer Erik Satie has been keeping me chilled and balanced this week. Very dreamy and calming.
Busy Bee
May is the launch month for my first published novel, ELADRIA and it’s been insanely busy. I’ve been struggling to find the time to blog and keep up to date with my favourite bloggers, but I will hopefully get caught up when things settle down. In the past week alone I’ve re-edited, revised and republished two short stories (available to download for free, check th...

Two blog awards: Versatile Blogger & Best Moments Awards!
Wow, awesome to receive these two nominations, it’s taken me a while to find the time to respond (lots of exciting things coming at the end of the month). I am including them both in this post. It’s quite time-consuming doing an awards post, so this may be the last time I do one, but I’m always appreciative and honoured to receive them.
I’m really grateful to Adrian Lupsa for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger award, he’s an exceptionally versatile blogger himself! Also huge thanks to San...

Tao Te Ching 15: The Way of the Enlightened
- 15 -
The ancient adepts of the Tao were profound,
subtle and discerning;
their wisdom was unfathomable.
There is no way to describe them
other than vaguely by their appearance.
They were careful as someone
crossing an iced stream in winter.
Alert as a warrior in dangerous terrain.
Cautious and courteous as a guest.
Yielding like ice on the point of melting.
Shapeable as a block of uncarved wood.
Receptive as a valley.
Amorphous as muddied water.
But the muddiest water clears
as it is stilled.
And out of th...

Gyaros Book Zero: Cry Wolf OUT NOW!
Hi guys! I'd be lying if I said the writing of Rory Mackay didn't influence ourapproachto Gyaros. I had Alex read Rory's short story Artan's Night before we began writing as an example of a well written action sequence. And The Royal Runaway definitely inspired Book Zero: Cry Wolf. I loved Rory's idea of crafting a short story that is set some time before the full length novel and sets up a number plot lines and mysteries to be explored later on.

Random Roryisms #1
Every so often I’m going to post a list of unrelated thoughts and reflections — just because…! This will include things that have been on my mind, ideas, insights, thoughts on current events, philosophy, the nature of consciousness and existence…and perhaps even what I had for lunch. Roryisms may be insightful, they may be redundant, they’ll almost certainly be random.

Book Review: “Gyaros Book One: The Mice Eat Iron” by Rohan & Alex Healy
Every so often I’m going to post reviews of books I’ve read, and here’s my review for Rohan and Alex Healy’s debut sci-fi novel, now available to download on Amazon Kindle.
Gyaros: The Mice Eat Iron is a science-fiction/dystopian thriller novel by brothers Rohan and Alex Healy. For a debut novel it’s remarkably assured, confident and accomplished. If I didn’t know better I’d think these guys had been writing novels for years. They’ve crafted a detailed, textured and immersive world that in man...
Tao Te Ching 14: Beyond sight, sound and touch
- 14 -
Look for it, and it can’t be seen.
Listen for it, and it can’t be heard.
Grasp for it, and it can’t be caught.
Its rising brings no dawn,
its setting no darkness;
it goes on and on, unnameable,
returning into nothingness.
Form that includes all forms,
image without an image,
subtle, beyond all conception.
Approach it and you will find no beginning;
follow it and you will find no end.
Beyond knowing, you can only
allow yourself to become it.
You can’t know it, but you can be it,
at ease in your own lif...
