will you watch the second season of daredevil ? what did you think about season 1 ?

yes. marco ramirez, now one of the EPs on the show, was in the Da Vinci room when I was there and he’s a good dude, a good writer, and I can’t wait to see what he (and doug petrie) do with it. i liked season 1 quite a lot. I thought d’onofrio in particular killed it and couldn’t believe how visually arresting it was.

Elliott Gould talks about Sterling Hayden. From my extensive 3-part interview with Gould, George Segal and Joseph Walsh about Robert Altman’s California Split (and a lot more). They loved him:

Kim Morgan: So you, George, and Elliott were both in movies with Sterling Hayden [Loving and The Long Goodbye].

Joseph Walsh: I loved Sterling in the movies, but I never met him personally. [To Segal and Gould] Did you love Sterling?

Elliott Gould: I loved him. Dan Blocker was supposed to play...

Happy 100 Sterling Hayden. A titan. Here’s my piece for Sight & Sound from last year about one of his greatest roles with one of the greatest endings in cinema and one of the great last lines, uttered by Hayden, as Johnny Clay in Stanley Kubrick’s “The Killing.” Read here.

Fantastic.

“The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night...

This is created for recent trending #whyIsign. #whyIsign was started by Stacy Abrams. She wanted to spread knowledge about sign language, how it helped so many deaf people and families, like myself, and to encourage more people to learn and use sign language, especially with deaf children.

I am eternally thankful for American Sign Language.

You can find #whyIsign on facebook, twitter, and instagram.
