New book in September
I am looking forward to the publication of my new book, A Time Such as There Never Was Before: Canada After the Great War, in September.
There is currently a lot of interest in World War I, what caused it, what its consequences were, and the viewpoints of different countries that participated.
This book looks at the aftermath of the war on one country, Canada, making the point that not only the war, but what happened after the war, was crucial to creating the modern society we know today.
First and foremost it tells a story of an exciting time through the eyes of interesting people. It explores a broad range of issues, from returning soldiers to Canada's taking its place on the world stage, to influenza, to religion, labour and agrarian unrest, the creation of a Canadian identity, and much more, as a young country recovering from the stress of war tried to define itself and reshape its society in a world turned upside down.
I hope general readers will find much to interest them, and to comment on. I look forward to hearing from you.
