The A-Z Spanking Blog Challenge

My plan is to blog Sunday through Friday, starting June 1st, saving Saturday for the Saturday Spanks Blog Hop, if my brain doesn't self-destruct. The cool thing, and what made me accept such a crazy challenge is that I can talk about anything I want. Anything! I can talk about spanking in romance novels, sex, post excerpts from my books and what I'm working on. I can post pictures, ramble on about my dog or my family and I could even post my Grandmother's secret recipe for Molasses Cookies if my sister, Keriann McKenna, doesn't kill me first.
Thankfully, my mind rarely shuts off. I don't take naps or lay on the couch and watch TV except during football season. Even then I stay awake unless Payton Manning is calling "Omaha", then for some strange reason I'm instantly asleep. Makes me wonder if someone hypnotized me when I wasn't paying attention. "When you hear the word, Omaha, you will fall into a deep sleep and you won't wake up until you've missed the entire game." Damn.
So join me when you can in June. If you stop by every day I'm sure you'll get to know me better and probably acquire tons of totally useless information, but hey, you might just be inspired to sit down and write something yourself.

LIEBSTER AWARD

Thank you Casey McKay for nominating me for this award! I am answering the questions that Casey provided for me.
If you want to learn more about Casey McKay, please click here.
What does one do when nominated for the Liebster Award?
Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
Answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.
Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.
List these rules in your post. Once you have written and published it, you then have to:
Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)
Here are my answers to the 11 questions Casey gave me.
1. Why did you start blogging and what do you like about it?
I started blogging about a year or so ago as I wanted to connect with readers and other authors. I'm not very good at it, being technologically challenged, but I try. Yesterday I bought, HTML for Dummies, if that tells you anything.
2. What was the best vacation you ever went on?
My husband and I were never really in a financial position to take many vacations. With five children we did a lot of day trips to amusement parks, picnics and field days. For a while we tried camping but really, isn't taking care of five kids hard enough with hot running water? Crowding seven people into a tin can was not my idea of a good time, and that's the type of camper we could afford. We also tried tenting in the Adirondacks, also not for me. One night, exhausted I climbed into my sleeping bag, popped a piece of chocolate bar into my mouth and then had to drag my sorry ass back out to brush my teeth. I mean, what if a bear got a whiff of the chocolate on my breath and decided I smelled like dinner?
We did, however, have one weekend a year when my mother-in-law would keep all the children. All the couples in the family would drive to a campground about 20 miles away for 'Adult Weekend'. Yeah!! Now we're talking my language. Cabin, pool open only for adults after 9pm, bring you radio, wine and enjoy.
3. What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Old musicals! I love them and will watch anytime I can. Unsinkable Molly Brown, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Kiss Me Kate and Meet Me in St. Louis are some of my favorites.
4. If you could have one super power, what would it be?
I have absolutely no idea. I guess I'd like to be able to time-travel if that qualifies.
5. What book have you read that impacted your life the most?
Gone With The Wind. I devoured it when I was about seventeen and have a collection of related items. I think it was the first time I preferred the book to the movie. Scarlet got a bad rap in the movie and ever since. If you read the book you know she had other children, besides Bonnie, who dies in the movie. The reader understands her motivations, instead of seeing her as selfish and manipulating. This influences how I write today. I want the reader to really know who my characters are, inside.
6. You have an unexpected 30 minutes of free time- what are you doing?
Reading.
7. If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don't put your dreams on hold. Find a way!
8. You are stuck on a desert island, but have unlimited access to one meal. What is that meal?
A salad with all the trimmings. That way I would have access to greens, meats, eggs, fruit, cheese, and of course Ranch dressing.
9. If you could time travel to any period in time, when would it be?
1500's Scotland, to check out Clan MacFarlane.
10. If you had unlimited time and unlimited funds what would you like to learn to do?
I would build a huge greenhouse and hire a professional to teach me to garden.
11. What is your happiest memory?
I don't think it's a particular day, more like a period in time when everything in my world seemed to be right. We had our first two grandchildren, everyone in my family was happy and my mother's cancer was in remission. We had a beautiful pool attached to the front deck and after work (2pm) each day I would take my little granddaughter out and play in the water. After dinner we would move to the back deck, get comfortable on the swing and sing songs, or Bill and I would swing while she played. It seemed like God was smiling on us for that whole summer and I was the happiest I'd ever been.
11 random facts about me!
1. I love storms, rain storms I mean. I love the moment when the clouds begin to swirl and the wind picks up. The ions in the air change and I feel alive and spellbound as I watch.
2. As a child, lightening struck an iron railing I was hanging onto. I was thrown about 20 feet.
3. I have a black thumb and most plants I touch die.
4. I believe in reincarnation.
5. I have, on occasion, been contacted by those on the other side.
6. I'm not dressed without my gold cross and pocket angel.
7. I didn't tell anyone when my first book went out, afraid my sisters would judge me. Silly, they love me!
8. I met my husband when I was 16, on a blind date. He wasn't my date, lol.
9. We once left a wedding reception, and went skinny dipping with about 20 other guests. A good night, but the next day I was praying it was all a dream. My sister-in-law got my panties off the mailbox flag and brought them to me.
10. When I was 17 I enjoyed drag racing my husband's (then boyfriend) '68 Gto convertible. (I loved that car) It was fun, until he caught me.
11. Typically we have 25+ people for holiday dinners.
I am nominating Mary Quast and Patrice Merrifield-Heauser Krumm and Mary Palmerin. I know it's not 5-11, but I don't know that many bloggers.
1. How long have you been blogging and what attracted you to that medium?
2. Are you an author and if so, what genre do you prefer to write? If not, what is you favorite type of book to read?
3. What's the most fun you've ever had in twenty minutes?
4. Describe your perfect day?
5. What's the most outrageous thing you did as a teenager?
6. If you could spend the day with anyone in the world, who would it be and what would you do?
7. What are you proudest of?
8. What did you want to be when you grew up and how did that work out for you?
9. What are your three strongest personality traits?
10. Do you believe in soulmates?
11. Do you feel like a success and if not, what would it take for you to feel truly successful?
Don't forget to list 11 random facts about yourself!

If you like the reading about The O'Malley Family and there's a place in your heart for loving, dominant men and strong, fiesty women, I think you'll enjoy it.
Chapter One
The moon was barely a sliver in the sky as he jogged the last few hundred yards to the door on the side of the building. Fingering the key that he’d carried all these many years like a talisman, he inserted it into the lock and opened the door. The stairway was black as pitch, but he didn’t turn on the light, just quietly made his way up. He knew the place like the back of his hand, had spent many of his teenage years sneaking down this same stairway.
When his grandparents owned the pub, he often spent the night upstairs in the small apartment, and even after his sister Molly, and her husband, Patrick, took it over, he still considered it his home. He moved quietly, something that was second nature to him after all his time as a Navy Seal, avoiding the stairs that squeaked instinctively. Had he been a man who smiled easily, he would have smiled now. It did seem a little silly, entering the building with such stealth, but old habits were hard to break, and many times his life and the lives of those on his team depended on his ability to move without the barest breeze identifying his passing.
Opening the door, he set his bag down and secured the secondary lock behind him. He was tired, in body and soul, but at least he was free. He’d hiked the ten miles from the train station without giving it a second thought. It was too late to wake anyone to come and get him and he didn’t mind stretching his legs after what seemed like days cramped in a series of planes and trains. His long stint was over; he’d served his country, done it well and had a chest full of medals to prove it, but none of that mattered now. He was home, although he wasn’t quite sure how long he would stay. There were no officers to salute, no orders to follow and no one to worry about pleasing except himself. That in and of itself was a blessing.
Stripping, he left his clothes where they lay and walked naked to the bathroom, quickly relieving himself. It was a skill, being able to function in the dark, and one he took for granted as he entered his bedroom. Seeing the small lump in his bed, he swore softly. Damn, he was tired and sleep was just too appealing to be concerned. Besides, it was his bed!
Slipping under the covers, he pushed the little warm body over to the other side. It had to be Bridget, he realized, smelling the perfume. She was the only one who used this bed, usually when she was too drunk to make it home. Molly had written to him that Bridget was getting married, so what was the little witch doing here anyway? It would serve her right to wake up next to a naked man who was not her fiancé. And if her fiancé was half the man he needed to be to handle Bridget, why was he allowing her to act like this?
Connor finally smiled, hearing her soft snore. Because she was Bridget, that’s why. She was infuriating and endearing, wild and beautiful, and she had a way of wrapping a man around her little finger. There was a time he thought about claiming her for his own. She’d always had a little crush on him, a small spark he could have fanned into a raging flame had he desired to do so, but it wasn’t fair, not to either of them. She could never be good long enough for him to complete his military obligations; it just wasn’t in her. Bridget was a girl…no a woman now, he reminded himself, who would require supervision and attention. Connor was not a patient man. When he gave an order he expected it to be obeyed, immediately and without question. Bridget would have driven him crazy, and in his profession it might have cost him his life. No, things had worked out for the best, Bridge was marrying some guy named…oh yeah, Delbert. Well let’s hope Delbert was a little tougher than his name, Connor thought, before he rolled over onto his side and closed his eyes. Patting her gently on the ass, he grinned as he fell asleep.
It was the sound of activity downstairs that woke Connor in the morning. Thin streams of daylight snaked their way around the curtains, bathing the room in the cool light of dawn. He was lying on his back and curled to his side was a warm little bundle. Her head was resting on his shoulder and his hand was on her sweet little ass, holding her securely. One of her legs was thrown over his and wrapped around his thigh, her knee mere inches from his morning erection. The delta between her thighs heated his hip.
Maybe I will fight Delbert for her, he thought, smiling to himself. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d woken up with a sweet-smelling woman in his arms. Cracking one eye open he lifted his head, looked down and saw a tiny hand with pink nail polish clutching his dog tags. Relaxing, he closed his eye and savored the moment. Yards of glorious dark hair that smelled like the coconut macaroons his grandmother used to make curled across his chest and wrapped around the hand that was resting on her bottom. Funny, he thought, sliding his hand absently up and down her back, he couldn’t imagine Bridget dying her hair dark, but then girls did strange things in the name of fashion. It was incredibly long, he realized, and he liked that. A woman should look like a woman, in his opinion. At the moment he wanted nothing more than to wrap it around his fist and haul her on top of him. Now that would be a homecoming.
Although it would serve her right, waking up sprawled atop a naked man with an enormous hard-on he thought, forcing the urge away. What the hell was she doing in his bed anyway? If she was mature enough to be getting married, she ought to be able to control her drinking. And why wasn’t her fiancé keeping a tighter rein on her? Did he have any idea what he was getting himself into? Molly said he was a lawyer, which might be a good thing to have in the family because right this moment he felt like committing a crime. He wasn’t quite sure if he wanted to sit up and pull her over his lap, spanking the daylights out of her, or plunge his shaft into her sleepy body. Either way, it was hardly an auspicious beginning to his life as a civilian. In the end, he contented himself with a sharp crack to her butt.
“Wake up, Bridge,” he ordered in the voice he reserved for the rawest of recruits.
A weak little mew was her response, so he repeated the smack, this time with more force.
“Hey,” she cried, popping her tousled head up and staring at the huge stranger pressed intimately against her. Her brown eyes widened in shock and as she opened her mouth to scream, Connor clamped his hand over it and flipped her on her back. She was unable to move a muscle. The man seemed to be made of sinew and steel, and her eyes rapidly took in every detail of his form in case she had to give a description to the police.
He appeared to be well over six feet, although she couldn’t be sure without him standing, but her feet only came to somewhere around his knee caps. His hair was blonde and cut in an extremely short military style, and he had a tattoo on his shoulder that she couldn’t make out. Crystal-blue eyes stared into hers and his full lips were twisted in irritation. They narrowed when she tried to bite his palm, and his eyes absolutely dared her to try it again. His bulging biceps held her easily despite her struggles, and when she was weak and panting, he finally smiled.
“Are we done now?” he asked with an inquiring eyebrow.
She nodded her head in the affirmative, fully intending to scream her fool head off the moment he uncovered her mouth.
“Just so we understand each other, I’m giving you fair warning that if you scream when I remove my hand, I will blister your ass even if it brings the entire neighborhood running. Now who are you and what are you doing in my bed?” he demanded, slowly removing his hand.

COMING SOON: THE PERFECTLY NAUGHTY BRIDE

Delbert Bertram Winston the 4th, former mild mannered geek, is getting ready to marry the woman who stole his heart. At least that’s the plan. He loves her to distraction, finds her endearing when he doesn’t want to wring her neck, and frequently resorts to a time honored tradition in the O’Malley family- spanking misbehaving women.
Bridget O’Malley thinks she’s getting married, until her wedding is taken over by her future mother in law. The woman hates her, pure and simple and if she can hijack the groom as well as the wedding she will. The stress is causing havoc, turning Bridget’s life into a nightmare and she’s spinning out of control.
Abby, Bridget’s best friend and partner in mischief, doesn’t get the whole ‘spanking’ thing, but she’s about to get a much clearer understanding of the entire concept when she wakes up next to a naked Connor McCabe, Molly’s brother, a former Navy Seal who wants to know what she’s doing sleeping off a drunk in his bed in the first place.

Happy Valentines Day
In honor of this day for lovers, I'm sharing an excerpt from book one of my Sugar Babies, Inc. series. Hope you enjoy this small peek into A Sweet and Sassy Match.
When their waiter came to clear away their plates, Jo asked for another glass of wine. Sam looked at her in surprise and instructed the waiter to bring them coffee.
“Don’t you have to work tomorrow?” Sam asked, choosing to ignore, for the moment,
Jo’s mutinous expression as she picked up her purse and pulled out her wallet.
“Yes, so?” she asked, pulling out a twenty dollar bill. “I can buy my own wine, Sam, if it’s a problem.”
“Buying you a glass of wine isn’t a problem, Jo. The problem would be in sending you home drunk, and you’ve already had three glasses. Now put your money away and stop trying to push my buttons. Believe me, you won’t like the results.”
“Push your buttons?” Jo gasped, the slight buzz she had making her voice louder than she intended.
“Yes,” Sam insisted firmly just as the waiter appeared with the coffee. Sam thanked him and slid Jo’s coffee closer to her. “Now be a good girl and drink that. Do you think I don’t know what you’re doing? You’re curious Jo. Wondering about that spank I gave you earlier? Wondering if I truly mean everything I’ve told you tonight? You’re thinking only a crazy woman would agree to the kind of dynamics I’ve described. After all, what woman would want a man so
totally devoted to her that he paid attention to every little detail of her life? What woman would want a man who knew her so well that nothing slipped by him? If she was upset or angry or hurt, he would know it and do everything humanly possible to help her.
“A man who would care for her as if she were the most precious thing in his world, because she is.”
Jo squirmed in her seat. It was clear he meant exactly what he said. Butterflies danced in her tummy as her heartbeat thumped at her temples. Her panties were damp and it appalled her. God, yes, she thought him attractive, but now doubly so. She couldn’t imagine someone taking care of her for a change, and it was a heady thought and oh so tempting. She actually couldn’t
remember the last time someone had asked her what they could do for her. Had there ever been someone to hold her when she cried, or to reassure her when she was worried or weary? Her hands trembled as she picked up the coffee cup and obeyed him. Jo knew she’d had too much to drink, but hadn’t been able to stop herself from ordering another one. This evening was nothing like she had expected, and she was truly rattled. After several sips of the strong brew, she pulled herself together.
“That’s quite a lovely picture you paint, Sam, especially for someone like me. But you already knew that, didn’t you? I don’t know how, but you did,” Jo told him, tipping her head to one side and looking quizzically at him. “The problem at the heart of such a relationship would be the loss of control, for me at least. I don’t think I could just throw myself into your arms and say, here I am, take care of me.”
“You’d be surprised at what a freeing experience that can be, Jo,” Sam said, looking into her deep blue eyes and trying not to notice how much darker the circles under them looked in only a short time. “Yes, it would involve giving up some control. I would expect a woman of mine to listen to me and trust that I always have her best interests at heart, especially when it comes to her health and safety. But as I said before, I’m not looking for a slave. There are two
kinds of people in this world, Jo, the givers and the takers. The best relationships are formed when you have two givers, both parties working together to build the best union possible.”
“And you would be the giver of spankings?” she asked, leaning back in her chair and forcing her eyes to meet his squarely, despite her shaking hands.
“Yes,” Sam replied firmly. “Among other things, I would administer any discipline if it was called for.
“Suppose, just for curiosity’s sake, you were to do something I didn’t like. Would I be able to ah…discipline you?” Jo asked, pretty sure she already knew the answer to that one.
Sam laughed. “I’m flexible sweetheart, but not that flexible. Are you ready to go?”
“Yes,” Jo sighed, looking at her watch. “I need to call a cab.”
“I’ll take you home,” Sam replied, signaling for the check.

“Don’t you have to work tomorrow?” Sam asked, choosing to ignore, for the moment,
Jo’s mutinous expression as she picked up her purse and pulled out her wallet.

change of heart
Since the release of my latest book, Matched For Keeps, which is book 3 in the Sugar Babies, Inc. series, I've received a lot of email asking if there will be a 4th book. My first reaction was no, at least not right away. I am working on two other novels which I have never attempted before, but it kind of made sense to me. If I get stuck on one, I can work on the other etc. Better than staring at a blank page, right? I had a plan.
This morning when I went into my office to write, my plan didn't work out so well. Suddenly, all I could think about was John and Erica, and what happened to Marcus and Susan once they returned home? I began wondering how Ty and Kelsey were making out, and if Sam and Johanna were ever going to set a date? Before I knew it I was opening up a new document and my O'Malley book and my paranormal romance had been shoved into a 'I promise I'll get back to you soon' file.
Who will win and get finished first? I have no idea, I guess the characters that yell the loudest.

Who will win and get finished first? I have no idea, I guess the characters that yell the loudest.

new release, new blog
Sugar Babies, Inc. Book 3, Matched For Keeps, is now available on Amazon, Blushing Books and Barnes & Noble. If you liked the first two books, I can guarantee you will like this one. (The link for Amazon is on My Books page.)
I have been getting a slew of letters asking if there will be another book in the series and all I can say right now is that I'm not working on it currently.
I am, however, working on another book in the O'Malley series. Requests for more of these books come in all the time, and having a huge family of my own, I can totally appreciate why readers are fascinated with this family. Loving chaos is what it's like around here on the weekends and holidays so I have plenty of inspriration, lol.
For those of you who like the paranormal genre, I'm trying my hand at one. This book is a romance, but not spanking fiction. It also doesn't have vampires, (although I loved the Twilight series, sigh) or shape shifters etc. What it does have is a girl with a 'gift' she neither wants nor understands and a man in desperate need of her talents, even though he doesn't know it. I hope my fingers on the keyboard can do justice to both the story and the characters.
