NO MERCY WINS SHAMUS!!!!!!!!!

I'm STILL in shock that NO MERCY won the 2010 Private Eye Writers of America award for Best Novel.

The award is beautiful :)

I sort of babbled in my acceptance speech, well, because I had nothing prepared because I honestly did not think I'd win. Robert Crais was very gracious, especially after I confessed how much I loved Elvis Cole and how much that character inspired me — totally true. I was very humbled to accept the award in front of Robert Crais and Sara Paretsky — another one of my writing idols.

Whoo-boy, I did some hard core celebrating Friday night with my writer pals when I got back to the bar at the Bouchercon hotel.

Have I mentioned I'm stunned?

Off To St. Louis and other news!

I'm off to St. Louis today for Bouchercon, the international mystery conference. I did a post about it today on the Murder She Writes site, and there's a contest for a $25 gift card, so pop over and leave a comment.

The Shamus Award ceremony is Friday night. I don't have a prayer of winning, but I am honestly honored to be in such great company with the other nominees.

Also, I found out last week that NO MERCY was a finalist for the 2011 WILLA Cather Literary Award in the hardcover fiction division! How cool is that? I've won the award once and been a finalist one other time, so I'm thrilled to have this new series recognized too.

NO MERCY nominated for a SHAMUS Award!

I've been a little slack on this blog, and I realized I hadn't even mentioned that I found out last week the first book in my Mercy Gunderson series, NO MERCY, was nominated for a Shamus Award, by the Private Eye Writers of America, for Best Hardcover Fiction. I was stunned. And thrilled. And really excited.

Anyway, I've posted about it at two different places today with two chances to win a signed copy of the book. Follow the links if you're so inclined:
