Low-fi sci-fi?

When trying to explain Ascending Angels, an in-development (written, but awaiting chronological tweaks) novel of mine, I am often inclined not to mention science fiction at all, since it falls into this hinterland of incidental science fiction layered just beneath the core action thriller threads with elements of fantasy. Continue reading →

Mr. Smallman on DeviantArt

Year ago, when I first wrote Perditions End, the first in the tetralogy I'm silently (though not secretly) working on, I decided to do some illustrations. Since then, Perditions End became nothing more than a rough first draft and those drawings languished in a drawer somewhere... Continue reading →

A photographical post apocalyptic earth

Earth's plight is not nearly as severe as our own; whatever we humans do to ourselves, the world will recover. That aside, have you ever wondered what a post apocalyptic earth would look like? Continue reading →

Google make a spectacle of augmenting reality

Google have released a preview of Project Glass and a glimpse into a world where they see people wearing spectacles designed to specifically make use of augmented reality. Sound familiar? Maybe not to you, but to me, it's nothing new or particularly ground breaking, as it's something I wrote about many years ago, which I dubbed "pre-vision" because no one had yet coined the aforementioned phrase... The science fact behind the fiction

When I tell people I write but don't read science fiction, they either think I'm lying, stupid or insane. The fact is, reading is to me synonymous with work, and while I enjoy doing what I do for a living, as a task, reading isn't one of those things I enjoy. Continue reading →

Project Status — Remembrance

Remembrance, a mix of horror fantasy, interwoven with the tenuous threads of science fiction, has progressed to an advanced developmental stage, and it's a novel I'm quite excited about. Continue reading →

Hello!

Hello and welcome to my tiny, shrinkingly insignificant corner of this literary enclave, Goodreads!

I'll be doing my best to offer some semblance of interest, however regrettably meagre and insubstantial.

But I could just as easily impress (quite by chance, possibly) or entertain someone. Who knows?

I'm a science fiction writer in the sense that I don't actually write "proper" science fiction — assuming that makes any sense. Instead, I write within various genres (though not deliberately) and often find any old excuse to weave in some kind of science fiction theme, usually of the "hard" variety.

Earth Day and Lucidity are the first buoyant novellas of what will be an invasion fleet of novels.

I do hope you enjoy my works, and feel free to congratulate yourself for having managed to read this far without losing the will to live.

Thank you.
