OK. Let's see what I've been reading, watching, and listening to, and which song I'm going to share this week, shall we? After all, that's the point of this post, and why you're here today, right?
*~*
This week I read three books, one of which I was given in exchange for a review, and the other two I was gifted, though reviewing those books was optional. I've only mentioned in the review for the one I was spacifically given in exchange for a review that I was given a copy of the book. Anyway, here's what I read this week, along with my book reviews.
Not So Sweet Maria (Sisters By Marriage #1)
by Jessica Spencer
My rating: four out of five stars
This is a sweet little romance, which makes for a lovely light-hearted read. There were a couple of minor issues, some of which were editing related, and some of which were character related, but none of which were enough to stop me from considering this an enjoyable read. I'm glad I read this book, and look forward to curling up with the other books in the series.
~
The Resurrection of Us (Albany Nightingale Duet #2)
by Rachel M. Raithby
My rating: five out of five stars
I love that this book continues the story right where the previous one left off. This was an excellent sequel, and the character development was fantastic... I liked the main characters a lot more in this book, since you get to see just how much more there actually is to them than was revealed in the first book. Also, the plot was great, and the ending was really satisfying.
*Note: I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. This fact has in no way influenced either my opinion of the book or the contents of this review.

Not Just Lovely Laura (Sisters by Marriage #2)
by Jessica Spencer
My rating: four out of five stars
This was another sweet romance by this author, and made for a lovely read. My only complaints are that the story took a while to get going because of all the backstory from the previous book which could have been shortened, and the book could do with another round of edits. Other than that though it's an enjoyable read with some fantastic characters - those we met in the previous book, as well as some we didn't - so is well worth reading if you're a fan of this type of romance.
*~*
This week I watched a lot.
~
For a start, I watched more "Friends" episodes. I've just started season 5 of that now.
~
I also had a DVD weekend and finished "A Game Of Thrones" - finally. I spent Saturday finishing season 7, and Sunday watching season 8. So, what did I think of the ending? Well, I don't get why people are making such a fuss. I mean, sure, it would have been nice if certain other things had happened instead, I suppose. But the ending worked; the ending made sense, and I didn't think it was the terrible ending people kept telling me it was. A lot of people insist season 8 was rubbish, but I really don't see it. Personally I think it's more that they were disappointed the person who was victor in the end was the person it was, and are just hoping whenever the books finally come out that's not who it turns out it was meant to be. For my part though, I actually hope that is the person who was meant to be the victor all along. Sorry if this sounds cryptic. If you've watched the show you'll understand - I hope. If you haven't though, I don't want to give spoilers, in case you intend to watch it at a later date. Either way, I actually quite liked how the show ended, and hope it won't be too many more years before I can find out if that was also the direction the books were heading.
*~*
This week I've still been listening to a combination of country music and 80s music - depending which I felt like at any given time. However, I'm going to continue my Halloween music theme this week with the "I put a spell on you" song from the "Hocus Pocus" movie - one of my favourite Halloween themed movies. So, here it is... Enjoy!

“I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking, what I’m looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.”

I recently learned there was some confusion over text to speach on Kindle titles, and the part where it tells you in the descriptions of books whether or not text to speach is enabled on the title in question is actually not accurate. I'm bringing that to your attention in a writing related post so as to inform you that it should be available on all my titles, regardless of what the item descriptions may or may not say. So, if you happen to be someone who needs that feature, and you want to buy any of my books, you should be fine to go ahead and do so regardless of what it says about the availability of text to speach when you check out any of my titles. If, however, you buy one of my books and the text to speach doesn't work, eMail me with proof of purchase, and I'll send you a guaranteed screen reader accessible PDF copy.

Speaking of my books: I was a guest on Teri Polen's blog this past Monday (October 5th) as part of her "Bad Moon Rising" event, where I was interviewed, and my book "Vinnie The vegetarian Zombie" was featured. #GuineaPig Themed #NewRelease - "Princelings Revolution" by Jemima Pett
Princelings Revolution is out now!
The day has finally come for the last in Jemima Pett's Princelings of the East series. She started writing it in the dim dark days of 2008, thanks to inspiration from some guinea pig friends. Today's post has an extract and a Giveaway, so there's a lot of reading! In 2008 it was just a trilogy. But the characters wouldn't accept their fate and demanded more. And so the saga of the Realms wound its way from south to north, and even into Germany before returning to the east.

Lilie The #Westie & Logan The #Cavapoo's Views On Workmen In Our Hallway And New Upstairs Neighbours + #Dogs At Play
Hi everyone. This is Lilie the Westie.
~

~
Daddy's been doing our walkies by himself for a couple of weeks, because some humans are making noise and mess in the hallway, so Mummy can't go outside. I don't know why them making a mess is allowed when we aren't even allowed to play in the hallway, or why Mummy can't come out with us if they're doing it, but that's what's happening.
I do wish Mummy was coming with us, but it bothers me more that they're making all that noise and mess out there, and won't even let me join in. They won't even come be friends and play with me, no matter how often I bark at them to open the door so I can go out there and be friends. I love friends. Why are they playing in my hallway if they don't want to be my friends and play with me?
Logan doesn't like it one bit. He doesn't like them being out there (it scares him) and he hates going walkies without Mummy. It's only that I'm going too that Daddy can get him to agree, and even then he keeps sitting down and looking back to see if Mummy's coming after all. I keep telling him it's her loss if she doesn't want to come walkies too, but he doesn't like to be far from Mummy, so he wants her to always come walkies too. Plus, like I said, all the noise and strange people out there scares him.
He even got scared when the people who moved in to our upstairs home came to say, "Hi," to us the other day. I didn't. I thought it was great, and had an awesome time playing with the smaller humans (the ones who would play with me anyway). But Logan was real scared, and either cuddled up to Mummy or hid the whole time, even though they were telling him he was handsome and trying to be his friend. The grown humans were already my friends from before, but I hadn't been allowed to play with the little humans before... I was glad to make them my friends too though. Like I said, I love friends. You can never have too many friends. I think so anyhow, even if Logan doesn't. Daft dog missed out on some fantastic playtime. Well, more ball time with them for me!
I wish they'd come down and play more. I hear them up there and ask them to come down, but they mostly don't. Logan gets scared when he hears them lots, and is glad they don't come visit more though. He's scared of most things.
Anyway, today Mummy is making the humans in the hallway clear her a path, because Logan has to go to the vet for his neuter today, and Mummy insists she's the one going to take him. I'll keep watch with Daddy, and if they give her any trouble about it, I'll bark at them for her. That should sort them out.
~
For now though, here are a couple of videos Mummy did yesterday when me and Logan were playing with the new balls Nana sent us. They're not great videos, because Mummy didn't do a good job with figuring out where to point the flashy thing. But we decided to share them anyhow. So, here you go... Enjoy!
~
Lots of licks,
Lilie

OK. Let's see what I've been reading, watching, and listening to, and which song I'm going to share this week, shall we? After all, that's the point of this post, and why you're here today, right?

This week I finished reading the book I'd been reading last week, read an entire other book (which I was given in exchange for a review) and started another. So, here are my book reviews for both titles I finished.
Ravenous (War of Nytefall, #5)
by Charles E. Yallowitz
My rating: five out of five stars
This is another excellent addition to this series, which shows some fantastic character development, and has an exciting and action-packed plot. Some delicate topics - including both grief and addiction - are touched upon in this story, which were handled very well in my opinion. Had life not gotten in the way, I could have easily devoured this book in one sitting.
~
The Destruction of Rose (Albany Nightingale Duet, #1)
by Rachel M. Raithby
My rating: five out of five stars
This book was so much more than the highschool romance I went in to it expecting. It's a fantastic read about all the stuff teenagers have to deal with, including bullying, peer pressure, etc. The characters are believable, even if they're the kind of people I would want as neither friend nor enemy, and the plot is gripping and full of emotion and drama. I can't wait to read the sequel!
*NOTE: I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. This fact has in no way influenced either my opinion of the book or the contents of this review.

This week I watched more "Friends" episodes. Yes, I'm still doing that.
~
I had planned to finish watching "Game Of Thrones" (since I still need to finish season 7, as well as watch season 8) but didn't get to it. I will soon though, since I need to watch the DVDs piled up on my coffee table so they can get packed for when we move. We were able to just carry them downstairs when we moved last time, making keeping them seporated from the ones I already watched easy during the move, but I'll need to actually pack them this time, so it would be useful if it didn't matter if they got mixed up with the DVDs I have already watched, which means I need to start making watching my DVDs more of a priority than watching things on Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime. So I need to watch the rest of "Game Of Thrones" and then start working my way through the other DVDs in that pile that's sitting on my coffee table waiting to be watched.
*~*
This week I've been listening to a combination of country music and 80s music. But I can't decide which genre to pick a song from. So, since it's now October, which means Halloween is right around the corner, let's have afun vaguely Halloween themed song to start getting us in the mood for some spooky Halloween fun. In fact, this one might even give you a reason to smile - maybe even chuckle - today. So, though it's not actually related to anything I've been listening to during this past week (unless you count the fact there was apparently a movie featuring it brought out in the 1980s) here's the Purple People Eater song for your listening pleasure... Enjoy!

The Life's A #Beach #Book Tag - #AmReading
I actually had a different tag scheduled for today. But Cat over at The Strawberry Post did this one at the start of last week (you can see her post here, if you want to check it out - which you totally should) and I wanted to post it before it got too late in the year to be mentioning the beach. After all, even though there are some people - like me - who will gladly, perhaps even more so than in the Summer, go to the beach in the off-season (when it's not so hot, and far less crowded) most people consider beach trips to be Summer activities, and we're already in Autumn as it is.
Anyway, as I'm sure you guessed from the title and above paragraph, this is a beach themed book tag. As usual, if you want to play along, feel free to do so either in the comments section of this post, or on your own blog. If you do the latter, please let me know so I can check out your post. After all, as I always point out, I'd love to read your answers too. Either way, here are the questions, along with my answers to them.
*~*~*
1. THE SAND: A book that stuck with you long after you finished reading
"Dark Matter" by Michelle Paver. Yes, I've mentioned this one about a million times, but it really scared me, and stuck with me enough to have me scared for days afterwards. I know it's likely weird to be glad a book scared me enough that I was scared for days, but it is what it is. Took me ages to get it out of my head afterwards, and it has the same effect on me whenever I re-read it.
2. THE SUN: A book that burned you
"The Hate You Give" by Angie Thomas. I'm not saying it was a bad book - it wasn't; it was a great book in many ways. But racism isn't OK, regardless of who's being racist, and I really felt like this book was making it sound like it's fine for white people to be the victims of racism, because coloured people have it worse. Yes, non-whites are more likely to be the victims of racism. But that doesn't make it OK when they return the favour. I'm sure that wasn't the message the author was trying to get across, but that's how it felt to me, and I had - and still have - an issue with that.
3. THE WAVES: A book that calms you down after a long day
Reading in general usually calms me down. Doesn't matter the genre, age range, or whatever. I find reading relaxing. It's taking a bit more work for it to start helping with all that's been going on this year, but still.
4. THE BATHING SUIT: A book with a pretty, summery cover
I have no idea. My default with questions like this one is to look it up, but I'm just getting results about book blurbs when I do that, so... Yeah... Guess I'm skipping this one
5. THE BIRDS: A book that is everywhere
J K Rowling's "Harry Potter" books. Now, come on, you knew they had to get a mention somewhere. Besides, you have to admit you can't go far without seeing some kind of mention of them.
6. THE COMPANY: A book with wonderful characters
I could pick several, but I'm going with "Artemis Fowl" - and the rest of the series by the same name - by Eoin Colfer. Artemis is an evil genius, but a great character, and the fairy folk are fantastic - and often amusing - characters. Butler is a wonderful character in that series too, though both he and Artemis are characters you don't want to be on the wrong side of, if for totally different reasons.
7. THE ICE-COLD DRINKS: A book you absolutely gulped down
Considering how fast I usually get through books, most of the books I read could probably count for this. However, The "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon springs to mind... Even with the length of those books, I still managed to average around one a week of those, because I listened to them every chance I got, and couldn't get enough of them.
8 . THE FUN MEMORIES: A book you can’t wait to return to
"The Tale Of Peter Rabbit" by Beatrix Potter. In fact, any of her books. I have fond memories of those books. Memories I've especially been thinking of lately with losing my Nan, because it was her who introduced me to those books. She used to read them to me and my brothers when we went to her house for tea (as in afternoon tea - sandwiches, cakes, etc - not just a cup of tea) some Sundays. I've read them myself in multiple formats since, but always think of Nan when I do, and likely will do so even more now she's gone.
