Love Lessons

By Heidi Cullinan

~Penny’s Rating: A~

Whenever I really love an author’s work, I get a little angsty before I read their latest and greatest, because I really want to love their new book as much as I love their other works. Heidi Cullinan tends to be pretty hardcore, and I usually freaking LOVE her work, but, when I heard she was coming out with a new “new adult” novel, I wasn’t sure quite what to expect.

The good news is that Cullinan, even when conquering a new genre, does not disappoint. Love...

THE BEST PART- A New FREE Penny Wilder Short

The-Best-Part

Yep. I did it again. I attempted to write something for the M/M Romance Group on Goodreads’ annual short story event, this year dubbed “Love Has No Boundaries“. Here’s how it works: group members are asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group then select a photo and prompt that speaks to them and write a short story.

So, here is the prompt I picked for my story, THE BEST PART. Links to download the story are available in pdf, mobi or epub at: mmroma...

Who We Are (Bear, Otter, and the Kid #2)

Penny’s Rating: A+

Note: If you have not read TJ Klune’sBear, Otter, and the Kid(BOATK), go do that first. This is the sequel, and it is as amazing as BOATK, so if you haven’t already read Bear, Otter, and the Kid, go do that, then come back for this utter awesomeness.

WhoWeAre Publisher description: “Sequel to Bear, Otter, and the Kid Bear, Otter, and the Kid survived last summer with their hearts and souls intact. They’ve moved into the Green Monstrosity, and Bear is finally able to admit his love for...

Trial, Tribulation, Triumph (Appearances Trilogy)

Penny’s Rating: B

If the ghost of Ayn Rand ever decided to write gay romance novels, they might go something like this. Welcome to the elite society of Atlanta. Where problems of oppression are solved by money and some kick-ass lawyering. Not only that, but insta-love exists, bad people get punished, and capitalism really works, even for kids who just want summer jobs mowing the lawn. Libertarians everywhere will rejoice, and closeted doomsday preppers will squeal with glee.

So….this series (Th...

Penny’s Favorite Reads of 2012

Here is a quick and (mostly) dirty list of all the books I read in 2012 that I gave a grade of A or higher, (or 5 star rating on Goodreads.com). I’ve divided these up by category as best I could, and each category is alphabetical by author. Some of these books are part of series, but it may be that not all of the books in the series merited an A or five star rating. However, if a series book made the lists below, I highly recommend that you read the whole series. Please note: not all of these...
