Pizazz

I can't begin to describe the fabulous time I had last night. I love Michael Buble's voice. I play his music constantly. I watch his DVDs.I love his pizazz and charisma and cheekiness and showmanship. Last night at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne he brought all that and more to the stage. For an awesome few hours I tuned out to my everyday stressors and let the music fill me.I sang and danced and clapped and woo-hoo'd. A lot. Today I'm more relaxed than I've been in ages.It really is so important to refill the well.Sometimes in the rush of our lives we forget to; at least, I do. Note to self: chill out with Michael more often :)

Words of wisdom

The incredibly talented & knowledgeable Stephanie Laurens (who has been on the NYT Bestseller list with her last 25 books!) has started a blog .

She'll be posting weekly, on a Friday, discussing the nitty-gritties of publishing.

Well worth a look.

Visualising to pain-free dentistry

My week went something like this.

-run around to appointments with kids
-try to ignore looming dental appointment Friday
-wait for feedback on book handed in week ago
-try to ignore looming dental appt.
-discover I have shingles-AGAIN-from stressing over kidlet's dental stuff
-try to ignore looming dental appt.
-feeling generally exhausted & crappy from shingles
-revisions arrive on last book, blessedly minor
-Friday arrives, I'm due to trot off to dental appt. when I get some good news at last!
-thanks to the wonders of Facebook and the camaraderie of the writing community, I get a ticket to my fave singer. Next week, I'm off to see this guy.Lucky me!

Helped me through the dental appt. ( I survived the replacement filling, back for more in a fortnight) by silently crooning his songs in my head.

Guaranteed I'll be crooning louder at the concert.
When I'm not flinging myself on stage.

Refocussing

Revisions have landed for THE HIGH LIFE.

Thankfully, they're not too major, mainly a refocussing on the hero's backstory and tightening heroine's conflict.

So I switch my brain from 'sparkly new idea' mode to 'revising previous sparkly idea' mode.

Having this guy for inspiration helps.

This look encapsulates my hero Roman perfectly...when he's not BASE jumping, that is!

Guilty pleasures

My book got a mention in the UK Daily Telegraph on the weekend.

The article, 'Guilty Pleasures: How to write a Mills & Boon' makes for interesting reading.

Check it out here.

Early spark

Meet my latest hero: -Rory Devlin-Mining magnate-inspired by Julian McMahon (when searching for a hero, came across another pic that encapsulated what I needed perfectly, will post shortly!) I'm still waiting for approval on my next story CUT ABOVE THE REST but am itching to get started... So what do you think? Does this pic scream 'ruthless go-getter' to you?

The Valentine's Day grinch

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wishing you hearts and flowers and chocolates and hugs...and all that guff!

Does it disillusion you to hear that a romance author doesn't believe in the gross commercialisation of this day?

Well sorry, but that's the truth. The blatant commercial profiteering from florists and restaurants and the like is over the top.

Just call me the Valentine Grinch.

I prefer my romance scattered freely throughout the year.
I hope you do too...in the form of the fabulous romances published by M&B.
A blatant plug? Well hey, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

Loving Alaska

When I read I become absorbed in the book and stories that are evocative of places I've been or places I'd like to visit are fabulous.

So imagine how chuffed I am to hear my book has done that for another reader.

Here's part of the PHS review by Marilyn.

Author Nicola Marsh brought back so many memories for me with Wild Nights with her Wicked Boss. This heartfelt and warm romance takes place in the state of Alaska. A place I not only visited so many times due to work but a place that stole my heart. I can't even begin to describe my experience while reading this beautifully crafted romance. Both of these characters tugged at my heart and their personalities leaped off the pages and so did their chemistry.

...Wild Nights with her Wicked Boss had a most creative and beautiful ending. It's one you definitely won't want to miss because Nicola Marsh's love of romance, love of Alaska was truly portrayed in this most amazing love story.

Feedback like this is truly wonderful so thank you, Marilyn.

If you're in the USA, this book will be released in May as HER BAD, BAD BOSS (Harlequin Presents.)

And if you want to discover more about the Alaskan features in the book, Marilyn has included a great list of links at the end of her review. Well worth a look.
