Christmas recipe
I've had several requests across social media sites for my ice cream pudding recipe, so I'm going to post here.
Wish I had a picture to go with it but once unveiled it usually doesn't last that long!
Though I'm definitely going to take a pic this year.
I've had many variations of this and have experimented myself.
This is the version we seem to like best.
INGREDIENTS:
2 litres good quality vanilla ice cream
1 410g jar fruit mince
2 Violet Crumbles
150g frozen cherries
150g frozen strawberries
Fresh strawberries, cherries, blueberries
METHOD:
Allow the ice cream to soften until a good stirring mix-through is possible.
Add the fruit mince (depending on taste, I add about 390 g, leaving a little in the jar, otherwise the kids find it too strong.)
Crush 1 Violet Crumble and add to ice cream.
Add the frozen strawberries and cherries.
Mix thoroughly.
Line a 2 litre bowl with cling wrap.
Spoon ice cream mixture into bowl and cover.
Freeze.
For serving, remove lid, invert onto serving platter, remove cling wrap.
Crush 1 Violet Crumble and sprinkle on top.
Decorate with a skirt of fresh berries.
(can also add berries on top if desired instead of chocolate. Or both!)
Enjoy!
I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a merry Christmas and happy holidays.
Stay safe, healthy and eat lots!

New Year's Revisions conference

This free online conference is being co-run by a Month9Books publishing buddy, Kristal Shaff.
Loads of fab agents, editors and authors participating.
Go check out the fab books giveaways now!
New Year's Revisions Conference 2013
January 4, 5, and 6
Totally free, totally online.
You wrote the book in November. Or maybe you've been working on yours even longer. The time has come... revision time. Pay the piper, meet the reaper -- all those lovely euphemisms for the real work of writing: revising. You do not have to do it alone. We have gathered a group of fabulous book lovers: the ones who write the books, the ones who represent the authors, and the ones who edit the books. They all want you to succeed in making your book as shiny as it can possibly be before you query/publish.
That's the focus of NYRC 2013.
If you love books, want to write, or have written a book, this conference will have plenty for you to love in the way of professional publishing advice, and yes, more giveaways. There will also be a critique partner matching service for those looking for a second pair of eyes for their work.
We'll be live-tweeting the events @OpAwesome6 and using the #NYRC hash tag. Hope you'll join us!
To recap:
Professional publishing advice from our panel of experts
Guest posts by literary agents, editors, and published authors - all with an eye toward helping you through the revision process
Book giveaways - *happy sigh* mmm, books.
Critique partner matching service (January 3, the day before the conference officially begins)

Old Desires

Liz Fielding is one of my favourite authors and she has just released a new indie-book (a re-release of one of her fabulous Harlequin Romances.)
Over to you Liz...
Thanks so much for inviting me onto your
blog, Nicola! I’m having a bit of a fan girl moment here. Having read Crazy
Love , I can’t wait for more stories about the inhabitants of the town
called Love!
Okay, I’ll keep this short; I know how busy
you all are at this time of year – but I’m celebrating the twentieth
anniversary of my first book – An Image of You - hitting the shelves. I’ve just
re-released one of my early romances, OLD DESIRES, as an eBook.
To whet your appetite, here’s a little
taster:
‘Holly?’
His
voice grated against her spine and she stopped and turned slowly back to face
him. He hadn’t moved.
‘Yes?’
she asked, from the safe distance of her porch.
‘There
was something else.’
‘Can’t
it wait?’ She fumbled desperately in her pocket for her keys.
‘I
don’t believe it can.’ Her margin of safety proved illusory as in a stride he
was beside her, his eyes smoky dark as he searched her face. It was a look that
seemed to touch her, stroke her, burn her up until she thought she would cry
out. After a moment, or it might have been an age in which she felt as if she
was suspended at the top of a roller-coaster, waiting for that dizzy freefall
plunge, he spoke. ‘I don’t believe it can wait another moment.’
She
closed her eyes in an effort to blot out the desire in his eyes, not quite
trusting it, but knowing that it was far too late for her to fight the echoing
response he must all too clearly see in hers. Knowing that she was helpless to
resist.
He
took her face between his hands, tilting her face upwards cradling it in his
long fingers until she could bear it no longer. ‘Please…’ The word, barely more
than a sigh, escaped her lips, but whether she was begging for release or
capture she scarcely knew. Until he kissed her and by then it was too late.
Old
Desires is available from Amazon UK and Amazon US (and from all other Amazon
sites if you’re an expat).
