It’s (Almost) Here!
The galleys for The Apidictor Tapes arrived today. It’s such a strange feeling to finally hold that book in my hands, even if it’s just in uncorrected proof form. Official publication date is October 1st. Not long now!

Verse Spotting: Valley Voices
[image error]
If you can get your hands on a copy of Valley Voices, do it! The spring 2020 issue features poems by Angela Ball, Allison Campbell and myself, as well as an essay by Joseph Holt. It’s always nice to see poems find a good home in such good company.
We might not be able to gather in the real world, but there’s always the printed / coded page. Stay safe, and stay well.

The Apidictor Tapes
[image error]
I have exciting news to share: My new collection of poems, The Apidictor Tapes, will be published by New Rivers Press in 2021!
I’m looking forward to working with the talented folk at this teaching press, located at Minnesota State University Moorhead. (And how fitting is it that I found out about this book’s new home while traveling in the Beehive State?!)
The reading & launch of my new chapbook E.D. Liberations in Chicago was a lot of fun, and it was great to meet three fellow Dancing Girl Press poets.

E.D. Liberations
Please help me welcome my new chapbook into the world!
As of today, E.D. Liberations is available for pre-order from Dancing Girl Press. This collection of erasures channels the fierce woman hidden inside Emily Dickinson’s highly structured poetry. You can check it out here: https://dulcetshop.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/e-d-liberations-annette-c-boehm
If you’re in Chicago on Sep 10th, why not drop by the Columbia College Library at 7pm for a launch reading – you’ll be able to pick up a copy of the chapbook there, too. All welcome!

Liberating & Confabulating
One of my superhero poems, “Jennifer Walter Remembers,” appeared in Rabbit Catastrophe Review #14. The issue is stunning in itself, what with the hand-printed cover, the hand-sewn binding, and a delightfully smooth choice of paper (60 lb Cougar Natural Paper, in case you’re interested). A news erasure poem, “Explosion,” appeared in Pleiades recently, and more poems are forthcoming in a handful of journals.

altered from: Daguerrotype of Emily Dickinson, c. 1847. Amherst College Special Collections.
In somewhat bigger news, I’m delighted that Dancing Girl Press will release my chapbook of Emily Dickinson erasures later this year! Once I was finished writing (or unwriting, if you will) these poems, DGP was the first place that came to mind – I couldn’t think of a better home for this chapbook. DGP already published my first chapbook, The Five Parts of Love – Confabulating Sappho, way back in 2012. This time, rather than confabulating (spinning poems around Sappho’s poetry fragments), I’m erasing, liberating a voice from Emily Dickinson’s existing poetry.
I also have two full-length manuscripts I’m fiddling with / sending out, so fingers crossed.
Here’s to a new year full of poetry!

Bones Are the New Flowers
…well, maybe not, but put Bone Bouquet on your reading list just in case. It’s a poetry (print) journal I adore, and I am thrilled to have a poem in the latest issue.

Next Line, Please
[image error]
I’m excited for this new book by David Lehman and Angela Ball, and not just because I’m in it. David Lehman’s Next Line, Please over at The American Scholar is a cool, fun project that’s been running for years, and this book is full of prompts and poetry from the project. While I haven’t read the actual book yet (it comes out in mid-March, so two weeks from now), it promises to be a good source of ideas / starting points, and my copy will have its place on my shelf next to The Daily Poet (Kelli Russell Agodon & Martha Silano), another great resource I keep coming back to. If you like getting prompts and sharing your responses, head over to Next Line, Please for a new theme every Tuesday!
