Read chapter two of A Leopard’s Path
Because I’m a big tease, here is chapter two… Only TWO more days!!
Chapter Two
Well, not her life exactly. Her biological father wasn’t the one she’d grown up knowing. Keegan Andrews wasn’t anything like the man who raised her. The monster, Felix, who’d stolen her from her true family and taught her to believe the Ashwood Falls Pack—the one she should have grown up in—was the enemy. The only thing Felix didn’t lie about was the fact that her mother was dead. He’d just left out the part where he was the one who killed her and stole Ana from her womb.
Ana clenched her teeth and gripped her coffee mug a little tighter. Life since coming to Ashwood and meeting her real family had been…nice. And challenging. Some of the younger Pack members still stared at her like they were waiting for her to turn on everyone. She couldn’t blame them really.
Releasing a sigh, Ana fingered the rose-shaped locket she’d worn for as long as she could remember. When she’d met Keegan in the summer, he’d told her it had belonged to her mother, Cate. It was she who’d picked the name Zorana. While Ana loved the name, she had always felt it a bit too exotic for her.
You can’t dwell on the past forever.
Ana forced her muscles to relax and leaned against the doorframe of the MoonRiver house she was temporarily staying in with Blaine—her brother and leopard Alpha of Ashwood Falls—and his two mates. She sipped her coffee as snow flurries drifted from the sky. The crisp early winter air soothed her cat, even while it tantalized the woman. She loved winter, loved the cold and snow. However, the sight in front of her was far from the magickal image she’d expect from the first snowfall.
MoonRiver used to be the wolves’ den before they merged their Pack with Ashwood. Now, Ana saw the full impact of the war that had pushed Luna to merge her wolves with the leopards over thirty years ago. Few homes still stood, and those that did were not unscathed. Others were either completely destroyed or just plain uninhabitable. The sight made the attack on Ashwood a few months ago appear like a training exercise in comparison.
Shame, pain, and outright rage whirled inside Ana like a cyclone. She had once called the monster responsible for all this Father. Not anymore. The dark veil had been lifted, and now she saw the truth.
Felix Darwin would pay for every life he’d destroyed.
And she was going to help make it happen.
Ana caught Cameron’s jasmine scent before she heard the female lean against the other side of the doorframe behind her. Her sister-in-law had quickly become a good friend. Glancing over her shoulder, Ana smiled. Cam was five months pregnant. Carrying triplets, she looked further along, even with the baggy clothes she wore. “Have you told them how many?”
Shaking her head, Cam rubbed her belly. “No, but I will soon. If they haven’t already figured it out by now. Knowing them, they already know and are just waiting for me to say something.”
“True. Especially Graham, since he was there for Max’s birth.” Graham was one of Cam’s mates, and Max was his son; therefore, Cam’s stepson. The kid was also the most adorable white-blond-haired, large-blue-eyed toddler Ana had ever seen.
Cam stared at her, eyes searching. “Are you okay?”
Cupping her coffee a little closer to her nose, Ana nodded. “I just feel a little lost sometimes. Not really sure what to do.”
The truth was she didn’t know how to deal with the distance Kieran had put between them since they’d arrived at Ashwood several months before. Of course, he was an Elder on the Council and had the responsibility of aiding Keegan with rebuilding the ruling body of shifter-kind, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that he was hiding something. She was tired of going to bed alone, and her leopard grew more irritated by the day. They wanted their mate.
“You know,” Cam started, keeping her tone low, “no matter what the issue is, a male cannot deny their mate’s needs.”
Ana’s cheeks heated. If her sister-in-law could sense how sexually frustrated and on edge she was, then so could everyone else around her. “I know.”
Cam leaned forward and hugged her tight. “Then stop torturing yourself and go after him. Force him to start the mating dance.”
Ana took a sip of her coffee, thinking of the last few times she’d been alone with Kieran. A whopping two times since arriving at Ashwood. What had she done about it? Nothing. It was time to change that. Mind made up to do just what Cam had suggested, Ana turned to go inside to put her cup in the dishwasher, but Cam took it from her. “Go.”
Smiling, Ana gave her sister-in-law another hug. “Thanks.”
It took Ana less than five minutes to track down her mate. Although it wasn’t hard. He was at his apartment near the main entrance to the den. She climbed the stairs to the second floor and knocked on his door. After a few moments, he opened it, wearing nothing but a pair of jeans, the top button undone. She inhaled, drawing in his earthy scent and the aroma of sage soap. “Did I catch you at a bad time?”
Wow, that sounded bitchy. Squash the attitude, Ana.
He raised his brow but didn’t comment as he stepped aside and motioned her inside. “I just got out of the shower and was going to call you.”
“Oh…um, good timing then.” She smiled and searched his handsome features. His damp, black hair stood on end as if he had run a towel over it.
He leaned into her, shutting the door at the same time, then wrapped his arms around her and hugged her close. His rich, musky scent enveloped her, flaring to life the desire she only had for this male. Nipping at her ear, he nuzzled her. A sense of relaxation flooded her, washing away the anxiety she had bottled up. If only they could escape together, far away from this war.
“I missed you,” he whispered before gently biting her throat, not breaking the skin. Her leopard purred and begged for him to mark her. To bite down and sink his fangs into her, claim her. However, he never did.
Her leopard growled and snapped her teeth, no longer wanting to wait for their stubborn mate to make his move. Ana scored her nails down his back. A half-growl, half-hiss escaped him, and he slid one hand to her ass before releasing her.
Chest aching, she refused to meet his gaze as she stepped around him to stand in the middle of his living room. She’d been here with him too many times, in this place of utter frustration. Things heated up, he nipped the skin in the spot where he would bite down to claim her, then pulled away. Every situation ended the same. With a rejection that tore open her heart a little more.
She wasn’t playing the game anymore. Facing him, she pinned him with a glare. “Am I your true mate, or not?”
He froze, his brows drawn together. “You know you are.”
“Do I?” Hurt shifted to anger. Sure, it was the female who made the final decision, but the male had to start things. “You haven’t marked me or started the mating dance. For all I know, you don’t want to.”
A tic formed in his jaw and he stepped forward, his cat in his eyes. “Now is not the time, Ana.”
Her chest tightened. “No, I guess not. In fact, I bet it will never be the right time.”
His cell phone rang, but he stared at her for a long moment before answering it. “Yeah…fuck…okay, I’ll be right there.”
Dread settled over her. With her super-sensitive hearing, she’d heard Keegan’s voice from the other end of the phone. She’d also heard Felix’s name. “What has the bastard done now?”
“Not sure, but it has Keegan ready to hunt him down.”
Not wanting to deal with Kieran and the confusing cyclone of emotions he stirred within her, Ana moved to the door and jerked it open. “I’m going to Ashwood to help Cora test the wards.”
She moved to exit his apartment but stilled when he gripped her arm. “We’ll finish this conversation later.”
When she met his gaze, she saw a hint of worry flash across his gold irises. Shaking her head, she extracted her arm from his grip and hardened her stare. “You come to me when you’re ready, but don’t expect me to wait long.”
****
Kieran sat on a worn La-Z-Boy in the living room of Keegan and his mate, Addyson’s, temporary home in MoonRiver. Luna and Hayden sat on the sofa in the center of the room while Keegan paced in front of the fireplace. The male’s shoulders held a visible tension as he wore a track in the carpet.
Kieran and Keegan had been friends for far too long; it was obvious the Elder had fucked-up news to share. Luna, on the other hand, was harder to read. The Alpha female was a master at hiding her emotions, or at least her anger.
Much like the female his leopard craved. Ana had actually given him an ultimatum before she took off to Ashwood. No doubt to work off her frustrations. He didn’t blame her, really. They were mates. Yet, with the war in full bloom, he couldn’t think about the future.
Just then, Blaine walked through the front door and Keegan finally let the words tumble out. “The spell on Savannah’s prison was broken this morning.”
“Fuck.” Hayden burst to his feet.
Felix’s mate had been in a deep sleep for the past two hundred years, hidden away from the world. Why the previous Elders hadn’t ordered them to kill the female was beyond Kieran’s understanding. She was evil incarnate, and with her mate by her side…
They’d have hell on earth.
Blaine growled. “We have to form stronger alliances with the other shifter communities and secure the Pack. Then hunt both of them down.”
Kieran agreed one hundred percent. “We need to have a security team meeting to see how the implementation of the new system at Ashwood is coming. I’m not comfortable with moving the kids and females in until it is online.”
Not that their temporary home at MoonRiver was secure, but it was better than nothing. And it was too risky to keep moving around. Besides, there were sentries camped out at the nursery, and they rotated shifts with the enforcers.
As a trained spy, Kieran knew all too well that a small vulnerability was all the enemy needed to gain the upper hand. He also knew careless mistakes like the one Vance made several months ago, got people killed. The Onyx Marshal had charged into Ashwood thinking he’d wipe out the Pack. The stupid bastard died and lost a large part the Onyx soldiers in the process.
Hence why Felix had hunted down his mate and freed her from her prison. So she could help the Alpha grow stronger and take his revenge. “How did Felix find the witch?”
Keegan shook his head. “Michaela thinks she started to wake, which allowed Felix to track her through the mating bond.”
Grinding his molars together, Kieran forced himself to stay in his seat and not hunt down the rogue Alpha to put an end to this. However, no one knew where the bastard had gone to lick his wounds after Kieran, Keegan, and the rest of them destroyed the Onyx den.
Not even Ana…Wait. Could Sable know where to find her father?
Standing, Kieran met Keegan’s stare. “Shouldn’t we bring Ana into this meeting? She could know where he hides, or at least know where to find Sable.”
Blaine nodded. “I’ll call Alec and Cora in, as well. They could give us an update on the security of Ashwood.”
“Let’s take a break, cool down,” Luna glared at Keegan and the other males in the room, “and then regroup in an hour. Bring in the senior soldiers, as well.”
Kieran made his escape, too wound up from his argument with Ana and the news that Savannah was free. He’d meant to surprise Ana later that day with dinner and the promise of mating. Something long overdue. However, with the evil witch on the loose now, most likely gunning for those who’d imprisoned her, he couldn’t risk putting a target on Ana’s back.
No, he couldn’t mate with Ana now that Savannah and Felix were working together. There was no way he’d go through losing another loved one. And he loved Ana. Loved her enough to risk the chance of losing her as his mate.

Cover Reveal: Sons of War series got a makeover!
Happy Saturday! I’m so pleased to reveal the new covers of Sons of War. I know many people have mixed feeling about a change of cover, but this isn’t a total change. Meaning, the same models are on the covers and the font used on the title and my name is also the same. The only things that are different are the background and the series logo. Oh and Artemis’s Hunt will stay the same because her cover fits her story.
So why did I change them? I’ve got a lot of comments about how they look contemporary. Well, SoW is a paranormal/fantasy series with mythical creatures, Greek gods, and HOT dragon shifters. So I wanted the covers to reflect that.
One more thing.

Read chapter one from A Leopard’s Path
FIVE days until release day! Are you excited? I know I am, especially since I just completed edits on #6, Jaguar’s Judgment. Yay! To celebrate, I thought I’d share A Leopard’s Path, chapter one.
Chapter One
Revenge would be his sweetest victory.
Fury burned through every pore of his soul. Ashwood Falls would pay for getting in his way. Somehow. Someday. Soon.
Over fifty percent of his Pack had been destroyed, and his daughters, along with most of the survivors, had fled like traitors. It was time for Felix Darwin—Alpha of the Onyx Pack—to take shit into his own hands and do something he should have done centuries ago.
Seek out his mate and free her. Only he hadn’t known she was still alive until recently.
He faced a bunker built into the mountain about a mile north of the Tennessee border. It hadn’t taken him long—only about three months of tracking her magickal signature—to find the prison that housed one of the darkest and most powerful creatures he’d ever known. The Council of Elders, what there was left of them anyway, thought they’d hidden his mate from him. They’d succeeded for the last two hundred years, and if it hadn’t been for her awakening, Felix wouldn’t have found her so soon.
His only explanation was that the Council had kept her in some kind of sleep; muting the bond she shared with him. Therefore, making him believe they had killed her. He didn’t understand why they’d never used magick to break the mating bond completely. An oversight on their part. An asset for him.
Idiots.
They would pay for their mistakes.
Focusing on the stone face of the mountain where the bunker was hidden, he drew in the earthy aromas of the forest, along with the floral scent of his mate. Yes, she was inside. He chuckled, rough and wicked.
Silently, he crept to the entrance and studied it. The large boulder appeared as if it hadn’t been moved in the two centuries it’d been there. Vines and other weeds grew out of the cracks, covering most of the rock. Brushing aside the foliage from the edge, Felix pushed against the boulder. It didn’t move, so he tried again with all his inhuman power. Still, the rock didn’t budge.
He ran his hand along the seam where the rock met the mountain face. A static-like energy tingled through his hand, making him jerk back at the sudden charge of magick. Yet, he wasn’t surprised by the ward. He’d expected it.
Reaching into his pants pocket, he pulled out a small linen bag of salt—a natural neutralizer. Pinch after pinch, he sprinkled the salt around the seam of the entry. Instantly, the ward broke down, and he tried pushing the boulder out of the way again. To his satisfaction, it moved. Once the entrance was cleared, Felix waited; not trusting the Council to not set traps.
“Who’s there?”
He closed his eyes and smiled at the small, yet husky sound of Savannah’s voice. They’d been separated for too long, and too much time had passed since he’d heard her voice, smelled her soft rose scent.
Before he answered, she let out a low growl. “Felix. What the hell are you doing here?”
She was pissed, and had every right to be. But not at him. “I’m freeing you, love.”
He rounded the curve of the cavern and stopped as he spotted her in the middle of a cage barely big enough for her to stand. Her waist-length black hair had streaks of white running through it, contrasting with the mocha color of her skin. When her ice-blue eyes met his, he hardened, and his palms itched to touch her. She wore the same peach-colored gown from the night the Council had attacked their home and taken her.
Half dark witch, half leopard, Savannah was the most powerful female he knew. Together, he and she could rule the Council and all of shifter-kind.
“You are as beautiful as ever, my love.” Beautiful didn’t begin to describe her.
She narrowed her gaze and snarled. “You set me up. You allowed them into our home.”
“It was not me,” he shot back, releasing his Alpha power. “Don’t you remember? Sable ran into the room, and you told me to take her.”
Sable, their daughter, had only been two years old at the time, and frightened. When she’d run into the room, it had been their only warning. Moments later, the Council and the bastard enforcers stormed into their home.
Savannah’s icy glare bored into him as she moved forward and gripped the bars of the cage. “You never came for me before. Why now?”
“I didn’t know where they had taken you. Besides, I couldn’t feel you inside me anymore. Until you woke three days ago, I thought you were dead.” He swallowed the lump in his throat, not wanting her to pick up on any type of weakness. Not until he knew for sure she’d help him.
She watched him, never letting go of the bars. “You’re lying.”
There was no use being untruthful with her. She’d know. Her senses were ten times stronger than his. The witch blood running through her veins, strong and connected to the natural world around her, gave her an advantage over any other shifter alive. No Alpha could top her. “I’m not lying. The bond fell quiet, and I thought you were dead.” He repeated the latter on a whisper then released a low growl for showing the weakness he’d wanted to hide. In truth, when he’d lost his tether to her, his heart had broken, and all he could see was red; the need for revenge against those who had taken her from him strong.
Straightening his spine, he met her hard stare. “It wasn’t until you started to awaken that I felt the connection again. I searched right way.”
“What do you want?”
“I need your help.” When she let out a hiss, he held up his hand. “It will not only give you the freedom you crave, but also allow you the revenge you desire.”
She laughed, the song-like sound bouncing off the cavern walls around them. “What do you get out of it?”
His lips lifted as he smiled, humorless and wicked. “I get you by my side. We’ll once again be a mated pair, stronger than any of the other Alpha couples.”
“Where is Sable?”
He clenched his jaw and anger rose inside him. The female had gathered her own army and turned his Pack against him. Felix was sure she’d run straight to Ashwood, to her mate and the father of her son. Yet another matter he’d have to take care of. “She has betrayed me.”
Savannah fell silent, her gaze still pinned on him, accusing. “Your fault, no doubt.”
Stepping forward until he stood a few inches from her, he nodded. So much had changed. Technology would be the biggest thing Savannah would have to get used to, but she was smart, and he had confidence she’d learn fast.
“I will show you what the world has become and will teach you.” He reached through the bars and cupped her face. Relief flooded him as she leaned her cheek into his palm. “Savannah, my mate. I’ve missed you so.”
Her skin warmed under his touch, and a moment later, the lock on the cell clicked open. Magick charged the air, nipping at his arms. She exited the cage, her bare feet soundless on the dirt-covered stone floor as she came to him and blasted him with a ball of energy. His back slammed into the bars, and pain shot up his spine. She held him against the cell with her telekinesis and hardened her glare. “Just because we are a mated pair, doesn’t mean I trust you.”
He offered her a forced smiled while his arousal spiked, making him harder than he’d been in a very long time. “When have you ever trusted me, my mate?”
A smile lifted her lips, and she released her hold on him, forcing him to grab on to the bars to keep from falling on his ass. “Never. Our mating has always been a business arrangement with benefits.”
Keep telling yourself that, mate. He knew the truth she hid from everyone, felt it along the mating bond even after the time they’d been apart. “Of course, love.” He pushed off the cell and paced toward her, stopping when he reached her side. “Come, there is much I need to share with you so we can move forward with our plans to take over the Council.”

We at Authors After Dark were made aware of a SERIOUS problem for readers for the 2015 year. Apparently the SOUTH starts school early—- Like end of July and early August, and we had NO IDEA! (please forgive us, the Con director is from NY and the staff are all from the northern states, and school doesn’t start there for the most part till after Labor Day.)
So this, is a problem for a LOT of south dwelling readers who are desperate to attend, but have put off getting their tickets because they were trying to make the event work.
Well… We have news for you!
After talking with about 30 readers this weekend via email, FB chats and messages, we have decided to offer a 2 day ticket for the 2015 year to attempt to allow readers that can’t make the FULL event, time to party with us and Hangout!

Also, rooms WILL be available for FRIDAY and Saturday (though we suggest that readers come in THURSDAY night in order to not miss any of the panels or parties on Friday). Any reader coming in THURSDAY night will be able to participate in the BOOKIES and any evening events authors set up (Info on that forthcoming on the Reader group on FB).
Some information:

Read an excerpt from Moon Mated
The final short story in the Shifting Magick Trilogy is up for pre-order. If you love short, fun and sexy stories with witches and wolf shifters, this series is for you.
Moon Mated is the youngest sister’s story and it seems Grams is weaving spells again…
Moon Mated Excerpt:
“What do you mean, you helped?” Dread sliced through Diana’s gut as she stared at her grandmother. Please don’t say you weaved a spell.
The elder witch had been banned from stirring potions and casting charms. One, her memory wasn’t what it used to be. Two, she, like all the rest of the Kelly witches, was cursed. Grams had never found her true mate to break the spell. Although she’d married and deeply loved Diana’s grandfather, the curse was never broken.
Grams’ curse had become a reality when Papa passed away a month after Diana’s mother was born. She’d never found anyone else to spend her long life with. As a result, Grams grew lonely and had gone a little…well, crazy.
“Grams,” Diana prompted, tapping her foot on the tile floor of her kitchen.
Grams rolled her eyes then opened the fridge. Her long, silver hair fell over her shoulder when she bent to open the veggie tray. “I just cast a small spell to help that stubborn wolf of yours see what’s in front of him.”
Oh, gods. Diana’s stomach soured. “Did you use those exact words?”
Grams stilled briefly before closing the fridge and facing her. “No, no. Silly girl. I used your name.”
Patience wasn’t something Diana had ever mastered. But getting angry with her grandmother, who usually didn’t make sense, wouldn’t make the situation any easier. The last spell Grams had cast was a love spell to “help” Olivia find her true mate. Technically, it did help, but the spell was wrong. Grams had turned the Alpha wolf of Gold Ridge into an orange house cat.
Fear gripped Diana’s heart at the thought of what kind of spell Grams had conjured up to aid in her search. Especially since Diana had indeed found her mate, or at least believed she had. Damn it.
“Grams, do you have the spell written down? Can you give it to me?”
Grams bobbed her head. “Of course, I wrote it down.”
Closing her eyes, Diana took deep, calming breaths while visions of a den full of wolves transforming into cats popped into her mind. “Do you have it on you?”
“No.” Grams closed the fridge then said, “You’re out of eggs.”
Seriously? “I’ll get them when I go to the store next week.”
“No, no, I’ll get them.” Grams pushed by her and left. A moment later, her car pealed out of the driveway.
“She doesn’t need to be driving, either,” Diana muttered and grabbed her cell.
Olivia picked up on the second ring. “Hi.”
“Hi. How are things there?”
“Great, why?”
Diana dropped her shoulders, thankful her sister couldn’t see her. “No reason. I was going to stop by in a little bit. You up for company?”
“That would be great. I’ll call Audrey, and we’ll make it a little party.” Olivia’s excited tone flowed from the other end of the call.
Smiling, Diana pushed away some of her panic. “Great. I’ll be there shortly.
“See you soon.”
Diana ended the call with a sigh. She needed to make a stop before going to her sister’s. The last thing she wanted to do was face Terrence, but she wouldn’t be able to relax thinking that Grams had done something to him.
Thanks, Grams. They should really look into a nursing home for senile old witches.

Moon Kissed Chapter One
Apparently, when an Alpha mates, it’s a big fucking deal.
With a sigh, Audrey traced the rim of her wine glass as she sat at a small table closest to the large, two-story brick house her older sister had moved into last month—after mating to an Alpha wolf the same night she’d met him. Olivia was insane. She had to be.
Then again, Audrey’s sister had found her one true mate and broken her curse. Sorrow seeped into Audrey, amplifying her already grumpy mood. It wasn’t that she was unhappy for Olivia. Finding a mate and breaking the curse placed on her from birth was wonderful. Amazing. Not to mention, Olivia looked like she’d won the lottery, ten times over.
As she should. Olivia was so head over heels in love she glowed from it. Plus, the curse that hung over her head, similar to Audrey’s, had been broken. Her Alpha mate was a descendant of the moon goddess. In fact, he was a first generation shifter. Just the man to break the curse and give Olivia everything she desired.
Audrey glanced to the happy couple slowly dancing in the middle of the Pack circle. Her heart ached. Unlike Olivia’s curse, Audrey’s mate had to be kissed by a god. The prophecy was so vague she didn’t even know where to start looking.
So, she’d given up years ago.
Apparently, she was doomed to be alone, mateless, and childless for the rest of her existence. A lump formed in her throat, but she pushed it away. She didn’t need a man or children in her life.
“Pennies for your thoughts.”
The low rumble of the male’s tone rippled through her, stirring things long dead. She lifted her lashes and met the heated stare and beautiful gold eyes of Lucian Scott, the Gold Ridge Pack Beta, Sentinel leader, and her sister’s new brother-in-law.
The wolf was right out of her dreams, the perfect male. Lean muscles covered his tall frame. His dark brown hair fell just below his ears, framing a handsome face with a shade of beard. He’d unnerved her the moment they met hours ago.
Picking up her drink, she downed the last swallow and hoped he would leave. The last thing she needed was a gorgeous wolf making her crave things she’d never be able to have.
When he sat in the chair next to her, she rolled her eyes. “Have a seat.”
He leaned into her, draping an arm over the back of her chair and growled, “I will.”
Cocky SOB. Need raced through her like a wildfire, heating every part of her body. Good gods, this wasn’t happening. Knocking her arousal down a few notches, she scooted several inches away from him. “What do you want?”
A rumble sounded from his chest, not quite a growl. “Do you really want the answer?”
Yes, please. No. She didn’t. She couldn’t, even for a moment, entertain the idea… What was she talking about? He was sex poured into the perfect male body. And she’d had just enough alcohol to not give a shit.
Plus, she was cursed to never find her mate. So, what would it hurt to have a little fun for once? To be wild and have mind-blowing sex with the wolf next to her. Facing him, she smiled. “Yes, I would like to know your answer.”
The corners of his sensual mouth lifted, stirring to life a desire she’d never felt before. “I want to take you somewhere private, strip you bare, and lick every inch of your perfect, curvy body.”
Well then. Ask and you shall receive. It suddenly became hot, and it had nothing to do with the alcohol. She reached out and fingered a button on his black dress shirt. “Then what?”
“You are a naughty little witch.”
“One, I’ve never been little. Two, you don’t even know how naughty I can be.”
Who the hell was that woman who’d spoken?
Abruptly, he stood. Gripping her hand and pulling her with him, he stalked down a small path away from the party. She glanced over her shoulder to see her sisters watching, both with wild smiles.
Great. They’d badger her in the morning for details.

Her strawberry scent intoxicated him. Her curvy, perfect body begged for his hands. The need to possess her in every way possible turned into a raw hunger he’d never experienced before. In fact, until he saw her he’d never considered taking a mate. His loyalty was to his brother—his Alpha—and making sure their enemies couldn’t get near him. Lucian didn’t have time for a mate.
His wolf thought otherwise, and what the wolf wanted, the wolf would get.
Lucian tried to ignore the pull toward the beautiful, curvy witch for the four hours she’d been in the den. A battle he’d lost to the wolf currently pacing just under the surface. Glancing at her profile as they walked away from his brother’s mating celebration, he watched how the soft lights from the lanterns strung around the circle kissed her creamy skin. Her shoulder-length black hair framed her round face perfectly. When she turned to him, his cock hardened and he lost himself in her green gaze.
She averted her eyes instantly, but not before he noted the slight color in her cheeks. Her scent sharpened, indicating she too was aroused.
“It’s a nice night out,” she said softly.
He moved closer to her so his hand brushed against hers. “Yes, it is.”
What was he doing? Acting like a nervous juvenile.
He linked his fingers with Audrey’s and tugged her to a stop. Looking into her green eyes, he cupped her head and claimed her mouth. She tasted of wine and berries. When she opened and tangled her tongue with his, he lost what little control he had left.
Walking her backwards, deeper into the forest, he gathered her long skirt up to her hips. She groaned and pressed her breasts against him, intensifying the desire running hot in his veins. He slipped his hand between her thighs and growled at how damp her panties were.
“So wet,” he whispered in her ear.
“Yes.”
Brushing the cotton aside, he slid two fingers through her folds. She gasped, then moaned as she moved her hips against him. He entered her and pumped his fingers in and out while rubbing her clit with his thumb. She gripped his arms, her nails biting into his biceps. Soft moans turned into pants right before she shuddered in release.
Just as he unbuttoned his jeans, he caught his brother’s scent. Lucian pressed his head to Audrey’s and lowered her skirt. “My brother is looking for us.”
Dazed, she stared at him for a moment, then blinked. “Oh.”
Pushing away from him, she adjusted her clothes. When Sawyer came into sight, Audrey darted away. Most likely heading back to the Pack circle.
“Sawyer,” Lucian growled, not bothering to hide his annoyance.
“Diana isn’t feeling well and needs a ride home,” Sawyer spoke loud enough for Audrey to hear him as she fled to where her sisters waited.
Setting his jaw, Lucian held his brother’s stare while he waited for Audrey to get out of earshot. Irritation clouded his thoughts. Why had his brother interfered? After a long moment of holding the Alpha’s narrowed-eyed stare, Lucian lowered his shoulders. “She’s my mate.”
“I know.”
“Then why did you stop me?”
Sawyer raised one broad shoulder. “You can’t claim her yet. It has to be under the Hunter’s Moon.”
Confusion clouded Lucian’s mind, and he began to think Sawyer was losing his. “What are you talking about?”
“It’s part of her curse. At least it is what Olivia believes. You can’t claim her until the full moon.” Sawyer turned and disappeared into the trees.
What the hell was his brother talking about? “Sawyer!”
“I mean it. Don’t mate with her until the full moon.”
Fuck. Sawyer was a stubborn ass. His tone in the last statement told Lucian he wasn’t getting any more answers. The Hunter’s Moon was two weeks away.
Lucian would go mad waiting that long to see his mate again. On second thought, Sawyer hadn’t said not to seduce the curvy minx.

Can true love break a family curse?
Well Olivia, Audrey, and Diana are about to fine out in my new trilogy of shorts.
Shifting Magick Trilogy is a serial of short stories with each having it’s own happy for now ending (no big cliffhangers here). It follows events surrounding three witch sisters who are each cursed in her own way. Only a true mate can break their curse.
I had a lot of fun writing these. They are light, funny, and oh so hot. Each story is prefect for that quick read while waiting for an appointment or on your lunch break.

Audrey Kelly has given up. As the middle sister, she is required to mate with a male kissed by the gods in order to break her part of the Kelly curse. An impossible task, even for a witch. However, when her older sister mates with a descendant of the moon goddess, Audrey’s hope is renewed. Her new brother-in-law claims that his brother could be the one to break Audrey’s curse. But could Lucian really be her one true mate?
Sentinel leader, Lucian Scott has no desire to find a mate. He’s content with his single life. Or so he thought until a curvy, little witch comes into it. The mating urge slams into him almost immediately, and his need to possess Audrey in every way possible makes it unbearable to stay away from her. Too bad his brother, the Alpha, has given him a direct order to do just that. Keeping his distance until the so-called time is right may just be the death of him, but Audrey is definitely worth the wait.
