She gave me her blood, and my life changed forever.
Anastasia. My sire. The only influential figure in my already-fragile life. She did this to me. She caused all the pain and suffering. There was a time I believed I owed her everything. After all, she gave me immortality and the never-ending thirst for the energy contained in the blood of my victims.
But now vampires hunt me and the humans want to use me as their personal weapon. They believe I’m some kind of apotropaic figurine that can damn all Deamhan and force us back into hell where we belong. Me? I just want to live. I just want to be Maris. That way, the only one I can damn is myself.

EXCERPT
I knew my name, Maris, and that my mother worked as a prostitute in a famous brothel located in the Irish slums just outside of London, but I didn’t how I ended up in this unknown location.
Every thought about my mother started off the same. She tried to abort her pregnancy because it interfered with her ‘job.’ After my birth she kept me locked up in the corner of the room in the solid brass baby cradle that one of her clients gave her as payment. She tended to me as least as she could and when I was old enough to walk and understand what exactly was going on, she locked me inside her closet where I remained until sunrise.
With her death from cholera a year ago, I found myself forced to earn my way. I had only two options: follow in her footsteps or leave the whorehouse to fend for myself. I pissed myself at the thought of trying to survive out there; in the world, all alone. At least I knew that I would have two hot meals, my mother’s old ragged bed, and a room of my own if I stayed.
I made a promise to myself. I would take over my mother’s client list. I would stay as long as I had to. I would save up as much money as I could and eventually leave for greener pastures. I struggled, though, as the years passed. Some of her clients enjoyed me while others couldn’t handle the fact that I, a post-puberty teenager, would submit myself to that line of work. But I did and there were nights that I wished I hadn’t. I had reached the midpoint of my savings goal when my life changed forever. I was almost there. I almost made it.
One night three large men with sharp teeth stormed into my room. I didn’t know who they were or what they wanted with me. One of them grabbed me by the shoulders and pushed me violently against the wall, demanding that I tell him my name. When I answered his question with a question of my own, he smacked me, slicing the left side of my face. That was when things began to go from scary to downright crazy. He placed his mouth over my opened flesh and began to suck the blood from my wound. That was the last thing I remembered before I blacked out and awoke to three individuals—two females and one male—standing over me.

Blurb/Synopsis:
Carter Schunk is a dedicated police officer with a difficult past and a big heart. When he’s called to a domestic disturbance, he finds a fatally injured woman, and a child, Alex, who is in desperate need of care. Child Services is called, and the last man on earth Carter wants to see walks through the door. Carter had a fling with Donald a year ago and found him as cold as ice since it ended.
Donald (Ice) Ickle has had a hard life he shares with no one, and he’s closed his heart to all. It’s partly to keep himself from getting hurt and partly the way he deals with a job he’s good at, because he does what needs to be done without getting emotionally involved. When he meets Carter again, he maintains his usual distance, but Carter gets under his skin, and against his better judgment, Donald lets Carter guilt him into taking Alex when there isn’t other foster care available. Carter even offers to help care for the boy.
Donald has a past he doesn’t want to discuss with anyone, least of all Carter, who has his own past he’d just as soon keep to himself. But it’s Alex’s secrets that could either pull them together or rip them apart—secrets the boy isn’t able to tell them and yet could be the key to happiness for all of them.

Excerpts
“It’s okay,” Carter soothed. He parked the car and hurried around, opened the door, and unhooked Alex from the seat belt. Then he pulled him out of the car and into his arms. He was shaking like a leaf. “There’s nothing to be afraid of.”
Alex looked up at the building and shook in Carter’s arms. A car pulled in behind them, and Donald got out and strode over to where they were standing. “He’s mean,” Alex whispered as Donald stepped closer to them.
“No, he’s not. He’s just—” Carter smiled. “—grumpy.” He tickled Alex slightly, and Alex giggled and wrapped his arms around Carter’s neck.
“I’m professional, not grumpy,” Donald said and walked toward the front door of the hospital.
Carter followed along behind. “He is grumpy,” he said to Alex and walked inside.
Donald was already at the desk, and after a few minutes, he returned and motioned them to the chairs. “We need to wait, but it shouldn’t be long. I used your name as well.”
Carter looked at the woman behind the desk, and she smiled brightly at him. He sighed and sat down. Alex stayed on his lap, and Donald sat next to him. They didn’t talk, but every few minutes Donald shifted nervously. Carter kept his attention on Alex, but every few minutes he couldn’t help taking a peek at Donald in his suit and tie, all buttoned up.
Carter knew the exquisite body that lay hidden under those clothes. He and Donald had… well, they’d had a fling, a one-night stand that had ended up stretching out over an entire weekend a year earlier. It had been hot, sweaty, and Carter had thought well worth repeating as many times as possible, but obviously Icicle hadn’t. As soon as the weekend was over, Carter realized just why everyone referred to him as Ice, because Carter didn’t just get the cold shoulder; he’d had his nuts frozen off completely.
“You can go on through,” a nurse said when she came out to get them. Carter stood and followed her, still carrying Alex.
“I can take him. There’s no need for you to spend your entire evening here with him,” Donald said and carefully reached for Alex. He didn’t try to bite him again, but he most definitely was not happy, and after a few moments, he simply began to cry. Not whimpers, but out and out wailing, with tears of desperation.
“It’s all right. I’ll stay with him. Maybe he’ll calm down.” Alex practically jumped away from Donald and back into Carter’s arms. That seemed to settle things, and they walked together to an examining room.
Carter laid Alex on the bed and hoped he’d stay there. Thankfully it seemed comfortable enough, and Alex stayed still. Carter found the switch and dimmed the lights. Alex yawned, and Carter held his hand. Eventually the little guy fell asleep. “I have no idea how long he’s been awake.”

At First Blush by Jeanie Grey Blog Tour #giveaway #blogtour
Author: Jeanie Grey
Series: Nick & Serran Series (Book 1)
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Self Published
Release Date: May 8 2015
Edition/Formats: eBook (May) & Print (June/July)
Blurb/Synopsis:
“There was no such thing as a soulmate. As for the intense connection…well, it must have been her imagination. There was no man who would instinctively understand her, no man who could read her mind. No man who could turn her on with just a look or a word, no man whose touch would override her reason and turn her into the embodiment of passion. And the sooner she let go of that fantasy completely, the sooner she could approach romantic relationships with a clear head and appreciate what she had instead of pining over everything she imagined she was missing.”
SERRAN WINTERS is determined to let the fantasy of Nick Enfield go. So why does she find herself asking him to dinner while on tour with her latest romance novel? Perhaps it’s because she feels safe in disguise as her pseudonym, Jane Garfield. Besides, it’s only a couple of hours…until a hurricane leaves her stranded at his house for three days.
Despite NICK ENFIELD’s deep hurt and growing bitterness since his divorce, something about the romance author entrances him from the first moment he sees her. But when he discovers she’s married, he’s determined to resist the intense attraction between them in spite of her mixed signals. If only his body’s reaction to her weren’t making it so hard to keep her marital status in mind.
At First Blush is a story about fantasy versus reality in love and romance, the nature of attraction and connection, and the reasons we choose to fight or follow our impulses.

Excerpt 2
She’d been right all along; she should never have allowed him to touch her. This went beyond imagination. Beyond fantasy. Beyond anything she’d dreamed possible.
She’d kissed plenty of men in her adult life. Even a couple of women. It was usually a pleasurable experience, sometimes even arousing. But she’d had no idea that a mere kiss could set her whole body on fire and blow all coherent thought from her mind like leaves scattering before a strong wind. She’d never imagined that she had hidden within her an animalistic desire like the one that urged her to grasp his hair or grind her hips. She felt like she was floating and yet her body was heavy with desire too.
How was she supposed to come back from this? How could she ever bear another man’s kiss, knowing that this…this magic was possible? She was spoiled for life.
But then he pulled back for a moment. “Jane,” he said, and it snapped her out of it immediately. She stiffened in his arms and tried to step away, but he held her firmly against him. His solid chest against her yielding one, the heat in his eyes, and the intense awareness of how perfectly their bodies fit together threatened to steal her thoughts away again, and the self-preserving part of her clawed at her to get out now while she still held onto a thread of her sanity.
“Please,” she said, her voice a whisper of desperation. “Please let me go.”
For a moment she thought he wouldn’t. But then he relaxed his arms a fraction, and the expression in his eyes changed. She sensed how hard it was for him to make his fingers unclench from around her waist and take half a step back. As soon as he did, she felt colder and had to resist the urge to follow him, to press her body against him and lose herself in his kiss once more.
Clenching her hands at her sides, Serran managed, “I— I need to go. Now. I need to go back to the hotel.”
Nick’s gaze was burning into her, but then her words seemed to register and his expression changed to one of surprise. “What? But…you can’t go.” His voice was soft, persuasive. He said it as though it were a fact rather than his wish.
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment, steeling herself against his charm. “No, I have to go. I can’t stay here with you. Please understand—”
“No, I mean you can’t go,” he said, and something in his tone made her pause.
She opened her eyes and looked straight at him.
“Listen,” he said.
She waited for him to go on, but he didn’t. Then she realized he meant listen as in, she was supposed to be listening for some other sound.
That’s when she heard the wind howling around the front porch of the house and realized it was raining hard. She turned her head to look out the window, but it was too dark outside to see.
“Because it’s raining?” she said, her brow furrowing now.
“It’s not just rain, it’s a hurricane.”

Only YA!? A Confused Rant
Originally posted on Come Selahway With Me...:
When I’m out and about, admittedly I’m not great at small talk. This is probably my only life failing, but there it is. I want to make it very clear that I’m not anti-YA fiction. There are some amazing young adult titles out there. Despite the trend of problem literature I grew up through, there was also a trend of really strong young adult fiction mixed with the typical fluff series (BSC…

Excerpts
Izar rose in rank by knowing his limitations. He remained within the boundaries of socially acceptable behavior and upheld the Infinite’s laws. It’s why he had been created, and it was pointless to question it.
As he strode through the lush gardens, his nerves buzzed worse than a hive of bees. Maybe it was the abundant flowers blossoming as if on steroids, or the fragrance of jasmine and other annoying odors wafting around him. Or the fact he’d spent so much time on Earth, more at home among the smog, pollution, and dirt.
It didn’t help that he’d waited too long to heal his rising lust. Heat ran through his veins. His cock pressed hard against his cup, hiding the worst of his erection. Under his collar, perspiration beaded, even in the mild temperature.
He ran a finger around his Nehru collar, frowning at the sweat clinging to his skin. Walking among the perfectly manicured grass and flowerbeds reminded him of how much he didn’t belong here. His boots echoed loudly with every step he took, and he glanced down, thankful he left no scuffmarks.

“Yeah, I know that, but it’s been two years. Don’t you think it’s time you took off the black dress and veil and went to purple at least?” Mark always had these sayings that rarely made sense. “It’s time you rejoined the living and stopped mourning.” Mark lifted his glass to his lips and sighed after taking a sip. “Damn, that’s good.” He sighed and then let his gaze wander back to Knight. “Kid, you need to get back to life or you’ll end up a grumpy old man before you’re forty.”
“Shit,” Knight sighed and drank from his tea. “That’s what Dayton called me today.”
“Who’s Dayton? Your partner in this mission?” Mark barely stopped long enough for Knight to nod. “Then that kid pegged you fast.” Mark seemed pleased about that… too pleased.
“What?”
“At least this Dayton isn’t going to take any of your crap. You need that.” Mark grinned, the small scar at the corner of his mouth showing. It was a souvenir he had gotten from a bar fight in Mexico when he’d rescued Knight after he’d done something stupid as a newbie. “Any partner that will let you walk all over them isn’t the partner you need.”
“You walked all over me,” Knight said.
Mark paused with his glass halfway to his lips. “Did I?” He raised his eyebrow slightly to the left, catching Knight in a whine without saying a word. “You were fresh out of the Marines and as gung ho as they came. Damn, you were scary as shit, always raring to shoot or blow shit up.” Mark smiled. “Came in handy in Ecuador, though.” He sipped his whiskey again, still grinning. “You needed a firm hand. Still do. Now, sometimes we end up with the partner we need and sometimes we end up with the partner we get. It’s up to you to decide which this is.”
“He’s the partner I got….” Knight gulped from his glass, the liquid coating his suddenly dry throat. “Just like I was the partner you got, and you were the partner I needed.”
“Are you sure about that, kid?” Mark expression was unreadable. “You sure we didn’t both get what we needed?” He downed the rest of his whiskey and signaled the waitress for another. “Don’t be too hard on this Dayton, but don’t go easy on him either. Fieldwork is fucking hard. Everyone thinks it’s excitement and glamor, but it’s really days of waiting surrounded by moments when shit happens.”
“Tell me about it. He’s so gung ho he’s probably spending the evening reading files and reviewing intercept transmissions.”
Mark stared at him. “That sounds smart to me. The question I have for you is, why aren’t you doing the same thing? It sounds like the kid is getting himself ready and doing the preparation you’d want a partner to do.” He lifted his glass to his lips but then sat it back on the table without taking a drink. “He may be new, but maybe the one who isn’t ready for this mission is you.” Mark folded his hands. “You never shirked on any mission we had. You pulled your weight and then some. That’s what he’s trying to do.”
That hit Knight like a punch in the gut. “Shit.”
“I ain’t saying you need to be a newbie about this. It’s your job to act as the seasoned pro. Help him along but don’t be an ass about it… well, not all the time. Asking you not to be an ass is like asking you not to breathe. But at least keep your assness to a minimum.”
Dirk is very much an outside kind of man. He loves travel and seeing new things. Dirk worked in corporate America for way too long and now spends his days writing, gardening, and taking care of the home he shares with his partner of more than two decades. He has a Master’s Degree and all the other accessories that go with a corporate job. But he is most proud of the stories he tells and the life he’s built. Dirk lives in Pennsylvania in a century old home and is blessed with an amazing circle of friends.

Bizarro Warrior Wolf Woman of the Wasteland By Carlton Mellick III
Road Warrior Werewolves versus McDonaldland Mutants…post-apocalyptic fiction has never been quite like this. They call themselves the Warriors, their enemies call them the Bitches. They are a gang of man-eating, motorcycle-riding, war-hungry werewolf women, and they are the rulers of the wasteland. A century after the fall of civilization, only one city remains standing. It is a self-contained utopian society protected by a three-hundred-foot-high steel wall. The citizens of this city live safe, peaceful lives, completely ignorant to the savagery that takes place beyond the walls. They are content and happy, blindly following the rules of the fascist fast food corporation that acts as their government. But when Daniel Togg, a four-armed bootlegger from the dark side of town, is cast out of the walled city, he soon learns why the state of the outside world has been kept secret. The wasteland is a chaotic battleground filled with giant wolves, mutant men, and an army of furry biker women who are slowly transforming into animals. Trapped on the wrong side of a war zone, Daniel Togg makes new friends and new enemies, while uncovering the mysteries of the people living in the wasteland and how they came to be there. Including 45 illustrations by the author, Warrior Wolf Women of the Wasteland is an epic bizarro tale of dehumanization, gender separation, consumption, and violent sexual awakenings. A fast-paced post-apocalyptic adventure in the vein of The Road Warrior, featuring a very unique werewolf mythology.
My Review:
I was going into this knowing it would be odd, and I was not disappointed. What I didn’t expect was the epic journey it took me through the wasteland with the Wolf Women and the mutants. Loved it all the way to the end that had me go huh?!?

Bizarro Vegan Zombie Apocalypse by Wol-vriey
Fear not mankind, the omniscient God Necro proclaims that your tasty brains will be safe from the ravenous undead during the impending zombie apocalypse. Unfortunately for most of you, however, the enlightened zombie hoard plans to herd you like cattle on their potato plantations and use your fertile bodies to grow their specialized blood veggies.
Only by prostrating yourself before the Great Necro can you join forces with other faithful necros and defend humanity from the ever encroaching zombie invasion. But it won’t be easy, especially if you’ve just escaped from the vegfarm – and you already have the cattle brand on your forehead and the telltale potato vines sprouting from your body.
Bounty-hunting zombinators, flying cleaver-laden helicopters and cockrockets, will soon be hot on your trail as you race toward the Promised Land and the sanctuary that is known as the Republic of Texas.
My Review:
This book is not for everyone. There is a lot of things that will shock, gross you out and anger you. The story was interesting and very different as you saw this world through different eyes all the way through. Once you thought you had a character to follow Wol-vriey changes it up on you. I highly recommend this one if you like Bizarro fiction because he nails all the elements of absurdness, satire, and the grotesque on the head with this one.

Bizarro Chainsaw Cop Corpse by Wol-vriey
Simon is having a bad fucking week. When you’re a D.C. Detective, every week is a bad week, but this week has been a BAD freaking week.
For starters, some psychopath has been murdering people, stealing their body parts and smearing their corpses with peanut butter.
To make matters worse, the contract killer “Boots” has recently resurfaced, and his girlfriend’s chainsaw arm destroyed his bed when he made her climax.
To top it all off, Simon’s been pissing random body parts for days. Ears, fingers, toes… And if that weren’t bad enough, now he has to drop a deuce!
My Review:
Okay let me tell you something first off this book might disgust you and possibly offend you. I am not easy to be disgusted or offended. Now onto the story. The story at first seemed it might be confusing but it kept me reading wanting to know more not only about the characters but the villains. The visuals were crazy, the people were crazy, the villains were crazy, but together it worked. I love the sheep and the crabs and the urn, but I won’t give anything else away because you have to read it for yourself. If you like Bizarro Fiction this one needs to be added to your list to read, or if you are looking for just a crazy read. There is a LOT of crazy in this book.
