My Exciting Friday and Saturday Nights
Life is incredibly exciting beneath the the ol' rock here in downtown Santa Banana. In the last two evenings I've managed to get some corrections poured into manuscripts for Three Maidens in the Dark and Soft Pink Rain. So those are on schedule.
I've been especially wanting to figure out the near-final page counts and see the final covers in-the-flesh before they reach official publication status, so I've got proof copies of those in the works from Lulu. Gotta be prepared for the zero customers who will come pouring in when boxes of the "final product" arrive in the secret warehouse and become available to be ignored on the black market in April/May. Whoopee.
And on Sunday I'm going to see The Magic Flute so that's something to look forward to.

Grand-Children of "The San Francisco Sound"

It's been a while since I read Jefferson Airplane, but I did read it, several times in fact, cover-to-cover... It's on my top shelf. I mean, the shelf way way up above everything else close to the ceiling in a precarious position, and I have to clamber up to retrieve it once in a while. I bought it new, on a news-stand, back in the day as they say, and it has never left my side through all the moves and turmoils of life. I love this book because it's both a snapshot of an era and a snapshot of a band that has been on the tippie-top of my Love List since forever. No matter how far gone I've been into the wilds of grand opera or the orchestral works of Prokofiev and snorted down my schnozz at pop music, I've always somehow been able to see my way clearly back to After Bathing at Baxter's as the crowning achievement of an era which stands alone, like a monumental cheese, in the middle of a mostly desolate plain.
And today I ran into something that reminded me... The San Francisco sound is still a thing, even though it has metamorphosed into something, as Monty Python might remind us, completely different, that their grand parents might not recognize. But if you squint your ears, you can almost see the DNA lining up in a spooky match.
Without further ado, I introduce you to my band du jour, Little Teeth. You can even find them fairly raw on Youtube. Anyway, I had cause to wander over to their Bandcamp page, and I haven't cried like this upon a first hearing since I was unexpectedly exposed to Emilie Autumn, last year I think it was. Hahaha... They snuck up on me. I'm telling the truth. You can see some other stuff I've purchased here...which I didn't know until today. LOL squared.
LSD spritzer anyone? ;-)
