Your Favorite Characters

What is (one of) your FAVORITE fictional character, and why?

I want to know what characters hit home for you, and why. What about them made you care so deeply?

Menolly

One of the characters on my list is Menolly, from the Pern Harper Hall series. Battered and stifled, she didn’t just wither and die — she lived, and helped others, and kept on making music. I loved how painfully self-conscious she was, and how little self-worth she felt for so long, and how she was kind anyway, and made friends who helped her see the value in herself and her music. I loved that she had this beautiful skill, and that she affected the lives of others, not by being loud and strong, but by being quiet and sweet.

She was exactly the character I needed to meet at that time in my life.
