He Fakes His Death, So He Can Play Games All Day In Grave

Whatever you're doing right now -- STOP!! Because you HAVE to watch THIS instead -- He Fakes His Death, So He Can Play Games All Day In Grave!!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvmLv... an amusing 12 minute movie recap of the Cirque Du Freak film, that summarises the entire movie, while scenes from it play out. It basically reveals the whole of the movie, so if you've never seen it, you might never actually need to!! :-)I think this will tickle any Shanster's fancy, regardless of whe...

Tattoo Tuesday - Stina

It's Tattoo Tuesday time again, and this week's offering is a truly jaw-dropping piece. The MASSIVE work adorns the lower arm of a fan of my books called STINA, who decided to pay homage to Mr Crepsley and Madam Octa, performing in the Cirque Du Freak. The attention to detail here is absolutely staggering. I've attached two different photos, to capture as much of it as I can, though I'm sure we'd have to see it in the flesh to fully appreciate its beauty. Hey, Stina, any chance you can donat...

10 Worst Movies Based On Books

Some months back, ScreenRant published an article entitled 10 Worst Movies Based On Books, According To Reddit. A far from scientific approach, then!! :-) But even though it's light on detail, it's interesting to note what's in there -- along with some expected entires, such as Eragon and, yes, the Cirque Du Freak movie, it also lists... Harry Potter?!? Um, I seem to remember those films being rather popular actually... :-) You can check out the full list here: https://screenrant.com/worst-m...

Happy birthday Gaia

My little warrior princess celebrated her 4th birthday today. Soft play with a couple of her friends, a birthday party with family back home, and of course a book called “Why Do Things Die?”What?!?!?!? Life in the Shan household - the faint-hearted need not apply!

Wester fan art

Wester Flack was one of the key characters in my Saga Of Larten Crepsley prequel series, which spanned the two centuries before Mr Crepsley crossed paths with Darren and Steve in the Cirque Du Freak. As in my original vampire series, my main character (in this case Larten) had many different types of relationships with many different types of characters, but in terms of driving the overall plot forward, there had to be a central dynamic relationship. In the Cirque Du Freak books, there were actu...

March of the Memes

I always enjoy a good meme, and here are four that had me chuckling loads! The first is the most recent -- it was only shared with me this morning, by FESTIETM on Twitter. I actually saw this film last week (The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent) and while it's by no means my top Nic Cage film, this meme from it is brilliant!! The second was made by VAMPIRE COUNCIL, and pretty much sums up Darren and Harkat's relationship in a nutshell. The third is by FESTIVAL OF THE UNDEAD (who I...

Out Loud & Awkward

Last summer, a new podcast hit the world, called OUT LOUD & AWKWARD. It's still going strong, with the hosts chatting about a different subject every week, but in the very first episode they cast their net wide and talked about their favourite movies, TV shows, anime, manga, books, and video games. Cirque Du Freak was the choice of one of the hosts when it came time to chat about his favourite books, and you can listen to it from about the 25 and a half minutes mark. He chats about it for a ...

Alizee Yeezy

I haven't been doing much publicity recently, having decided to take things easy on that front after the release of the final Archibald Lox books last year -- I'm gearing myself up to hopefully do lots of promoting if I hit my target of releasing a new Darren Dash books for adults later in 2023. But when the Alizee Yeezy Show asked me if I'd like to be interviewed, I was tempted out of my shell for a rare first half of 2023 appearance! It ended up running for almost an hour and a half, and it c...

Tattoo Tuesday - Jake

It's Tattoo Tuesday time again, and this week's stunning tat comes to us courtesy of a fan of my stand-alone fantasy novel The Thin Executioner, called JAKE.As I've often stated since it was released almost 13 years ago (April 29th, 2010) The Thin Executioner is my favourite out of all my books. If I had to pulp everything I'd ever written, and could only keep one of them, I'd keep this one. I'm not saying it's my best book -- it's certainly by no means my bestselling or most popular book -- b...

65 million flaws

I took my son Dante and some of his friends to see the movie 65 at the weekend. We had the screen to ourselves, which was handy, as most of the boys swiftly lost interest in the rather poor, dull film, and so they were free to move around the cinema and chase each other up and down the aisles!! :-)I must admit, it seemed like a very strange decision to cast only two actors in the bulk of the movie. The basic idea was a fun, bonkers one -- astronauts end up on Earth 65 million years ago and get...
