Sliding Beneath the Surface: Book Trailer
The St. Augustine Trilogy: Book I
Young adult, paranormal and historical
As I visualized the characters and scenes while writing this book, I often wondered if readers would see them the same way I do. I mean, would they really get it was my question. As the reviews have flowed in, I could see that, yes indeed, people saw in my work what I was truly trying to transmit.
But as wonderful as that was, something happened recently that really drove the point home in an extremely gratifying way. A delightful lady, and fan from South Carolina, created her own book trailer in cooperation with my assistant, Julia Hendrix. I had been meaning to do one myself or get it made somehow but I never got around to it.
Well, when Cheree Crump sent me her completed Youtube video, I was blown away. It was exactly what I wanted and it showed in a visual way how deeply a reader could connect with what I wrote. Amazing.
That trailer I have now proudly posted on my home page. Thank you Cheree for all of your hard work and making my day.
Time to stop blabbing. Here’s the trailer itself. Enjoy.
“A Paranormal Story with Florida History”
The St. Augustine Trilogy: Book I
Young adult, paranormal & historical
A review placed on Amazon by Jennifer Wedmore from Florida
“How could you go wrong! I loved that this story was set in St. Augustine, I have always wanted to visit. Now I know where to go!
“I found this story fast paced, intense at times and thoroughly absorbing. I loved the Lobo’s quirks and Jeff’s inability to deal with it at first. I found this book’s paranormal so different than what I typically read that I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it. Doug Dillon’s use of history and common sense made things open up in a new way! Everything has a new twist to it and I cant wait for more!”

“Creative Spin on Paranormal and History!”
The St. Augustine Trilogy: Book I
Young adult
A review placed on Amazon by Dragonmoma from South Carolina
“Sliding Beneath the Surface is a story I can’t wait to share with my son (12y). I know he will enjoy it as much as I did and learn something in the process. Doug did an amazing job detailing true events in history and their current locations. This story is based in St. Augustine Florida, I am now wanting to plan my next trip there to explore the real places that are noted.
“The main character Jeff is hilarious even when he is freaking out. If I wasn’t laughing I was saying OMG that can’t be happening, then laughing again at something else that was said or done soon after. Carla, his friend, helps him get to the root of his problems when Jeff starts to have painful constant headaches and dreams that won’t go away. She brings him to her friend Lobo (an old Native American Shaman)who seems mean and rude, but leads Jeff down a path that will uncover the puzzle behind his troubles.
“The story is written in Jeff’s POV and the story is well written from beginning to end. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series to see what adventure Jeff and Carla embark on next.”

“WOW!” Great Read: Young adult, paranormal & historical
The St. Augustine Trilogy: Book I
A review placed on her blog, Goodreads and Amazon by Samantha Atkin, better known as Sam.
“This book in my opinion was very ‘Original’. I haven’t read anything like it before (though I’m sure there are books out there like it). It contains elements of the Paranormal, Mystery and History.
“OK, I am going to put my hands up and say I’m not a fan of History but after reading this book the message is clear. History is all around us, it happened, it’s still happening and it’s a big part of our lives.
“After the first few chapter’s, the book start’s to warm up. You are right there with Jeff to the end. Doug’s writing style is superb! The way he wrote the battle scene, “WOW!” You really can see it happening all around you.
“The book is written in Jeff’s POV, a 15 year old troubled teen who has recently moved to St, Augustine. He makes friends with Carla who he seems to like, as their experiences through the book bring them closer together I can see a relationship brewing (well I hope so anyways).
“Jeff hasn’t been getting much sleep for the past 3 nights, he’s been having nightmares. He tells Carla about them and she takes him to meet her next door neighbour Lobo. Now let me tell you Lobo is a my way or the highway type of man and at first Jeff has trouble listening to Lobo. Well, wouldn’t you after being told a ghost is trying to get your attention? I do feel sorry for Jeff as he is being haunted, seeing things that aren’t normal and just downright scary! Though Lobo and Carla have their own withheld secrets too. Jeff is just starting to learn how to sort of control his mind, when he and Carla have to confront his past! There is a battle to be won and Jeff and Carla must make it out alive.
“Sliding Beneath the Surface leaves you with wanting more, Jeff learns a few things about himself and I’m guessing we will hear more about that in Book 2, Stepping Off a Cliff in The St. Augustine Trilogy.

“Didn’t Want to Put it Down”
The St. Augustine Trilogy: Book I
Young adult, paranormal & historical
A review placed on Amazon by Diana Murdock.
I’ve been reading a lot of YA books lately and was getting a little burned out. I had filled my Kindle with other genres to start on but had wanted to get to this one before jumping the fence to the genres. I’m sooo happy I did. It did take me until the second chapter to really get into the story and after that, it picked up speed. I’m all about metaphysics and past lives and such, so this book filled that part of me to complete overload – in a good way, of course. The characters, I felt, were believable and well fleshed out. The story line of souls being trapped in their own past, reaching out to the living for help was brilliant. I’ve since passed this on to my children, and for me to do that, knowing how particular they are… well, I was confident they would love the story as much as I did. I would totally recommend this for everyone!
