The 3rd Annual Atlanta Mini Maker Faire: This Saturday!

AMMF2 More than two years after creating and hosting the first Atlanta Mini Maker Faire, I'm going back for the third annual show this Saturday, and I'm extremely excited to see how it's grown. It's free to attend and takes place on Georgia Tech's beautiful campus, so there's really no reason not to come.

Refill a Water Bowl with the Pet Water Warden and Weekend Projects

wp12_pww02 Use an Arduino, MakerShield, and ethernet shield to build an automatic water dispensing system to fill up your pet's water bowl while you're away. The sensors connected to the circuit know when the bowl is low - and filled - with water, and it can even tweet when the reservoir runs out!

Creating a Knitting Needle Hypercube Shadow

DSCN0247 There has been lots of making going on at MoMath lately, which we'll take a look at over the next few posts. Recently, one of our Math Encounters speakers needed a projection of a hypercube into three dimensions as part of a demonstration. So we used Great Stella 4D to make a nice projection in general position, in which no two vertices coincide in three dimensions, and then used the measuring tool in the program to get the edge lengths.
