Blinky, Blinky, Little Shed – New LED Products
It's no secret that we really like our blinky kits here at the Maker Shed. With the Holidays in full swing, there's no better time to pick up some LED-related products to add a little extra Holiday spirit to your home (or your boring Christmas Tree).

Hack A Tree in NYC From Your Browser
The team from Incredible Machines have rigged up an Xmas tree using WiFi web-socket connected (and Arduino-powered) Visualight light bulbs and LED strips (crowdfunded back in October, 2012). You can interact with their "TreeeeeTMMMMM" at this website. If they're working nearby I apologize, because I keep setting colors to "blink fast" mode :)

Bunnie Huang Talks About Manufacturing in Shenzhen
One of the most fascinating (to me) aspects of the Maker Pro movement are the expatriates who have moved closer to the manufacturing zones. Take bunnie Huang of chibitronics, which is based in Singapore. Bunnie gave a talk on the Make: Live stage at Maker Faire New York 2013, where he described his experience with finding factories in Shenzhen to manufacture products he developed.

Nothing Says Love Like a Bandit
Ever get a gift for someone, then realize it's so awesome you have to get one for yourself? That's pretty much what happened when I picked up the Bandit Rubber Band Sheriff Shotgun Kit for a friend of mine.

Spark Some New Interests with Maker Shed Gifts!
Electrify your holiday with gifts from the Maker Shed's Intro Electronic's Gift Guide! Instead of warming up by an open fire, you can get cozy with our Getting Started with Soldering Kit or simply grab a Variable Temperature Soldering Iron (not literally, those things are hot!). While you're bringing soldering skills up to snuff, pick up a Learn to Solder Decoration to add to your ornament collection. For your holiday photos, build a BigShot Camera Kit, a DIY digital camera which is great for both photo hobbyists and electronics neophytes.

Twente’s Big Mini Maker Faire
With 70+ makers and more than 5,000 visitors at last month's Twente mini Maker Faire, the event wasn't so mini. The fair was housed in a refurbished factory hall which besides a massive space for events house a large number of creative start-up companies. Fortunately the location (Creatieve Fabriek) and production crew were up to the task, so, although busy and bustling with activity, the event turned out to be quite relaxed.

RobotsConf: Day 2
The second day of RobotsConf, a new conference designed to transform 150 coders into makers in just 48 hours, was a blast! The day started with attendees resuming their robot builds after only a few hours sleep. Project plans made on day 1 became reality, and calls for help on specific tasks were answered by those with experience. The 3D printers and laser cutters were very busy making custom robot parts as fast as possible. In the afternoon, two SumoBot competitions and a science faire let all the attendees see the projects and have a few laughs. Highlights of the day are in the slideshow.

New Project: Build-Your-Own Christmas Lights
Building customized light lines is how professional lighting installers consistently create such crisp, picture-perfect light displays. Building your own light lines eliminates the problem of light strings always ending up too short or too long. Customizing your own lines also gives you complete control over bulb spacing and other aesthetics such as bulb color, style, size and design. And building a custom light line is surprisingly easy. In fact, it's as simple as 1-2-3…
