News

Hello all! *Waves*

It seems I have a bit of news to share so I thought I should post it...here goes.

We are getting ever closer to 100 followers and the eBook giveaway. (79) So far I've secured three books from some very talented writers for this event. Michael Cargill's Underneath, Melanie Cusick-Jones' Hopes Daughter and Tony Talbot's Eight Mile Island. To preview the books up for grabs, click here.

After August 14th, I have no more indie authors to spotlight! So if you are an indie author or know of an indie author who needs some exposure, be sure to send them my way. Many thanks.

My Facebook page is coming along nicely but it could use some more love. If you haven't liked the page it would be like, totally awesome if you did, like. (Flash back to the Valley Girl days of the 90's... sorry, won't happen again.)

Next item on the agenda is... Lost Princess: The Journey Home will be getting a price reduction starting August 1st, just as a little experiment I'm conducting. Starting then, it will be a whopping 99 cents.

Lastly, Lost Princess: Olmosis Returns is coming along a little slower than anticipated but with two kiddos at home for the summer, baseball season and life's other busy activities, I haven't had much time to write. Hopefully after school is back in session and life returns to some sense of normalcy, I'll be able to finish it up.

Fhew, I think that's everything.

Original, Thrilling, and Unique twist on the Vampire and Magic Legend rolled into one exciting story

By D. Everetti

Kirstyanne Ross' "Old Magick" is a new, thrilling, and unique but spine-tingling take on the paranormal legends. The main character is named Loshelle. She is a born purebred vampire with magic running through her veins. Her father died when she was young and her mother disappeared not long after that. Soon everything she has known and believed is about to change. She is suddenly thrust into a whole new world, fighting not only for her life but also the lives of those she holds dear and her race in general. And this is where I stop as you need to pick up your own copy of this great book to find out what happens to Loshelle and those she loves.

Kirstyanne Ross has created a whole new refreshing and unique take on the vampire genre. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Loshelle and her family. If you enjoy a good vampire/magic story than pick up your copy today, you won't be disappointed.

A HAUNTING CARIBBEAN MYSTERY

James Cuffy, better known as Cuff, is living in paradise with his girlfriend, on the small Caribbean island of St. Croix, where the sky is as blue as Cuff's eyes, the ocean as pretty as Rosie's cheeks, where the gentle lapping of the waves is a lullaby, and the swaying of the palm trees is a dance. The sandy beaches are as white as sugar, and the horizon is a world away. St. Croix indeed is paradise, the perfect place for living, laughing, and loving.

But the sandy beaches and the turquoise sea can provide no cover from the deadly eyes of the unknown stalker pursuing Cuff. Murder leads to murder as he attempts to untangle the terrible web in which he has suddenly become entangled.

The twists and turns are relentless, the roads of the fast action leading in all directions, but time is running out, and Cuff, his faithful Rosie at his side, knows it.

Books into Movies

Picture As an author I'm realizing more and more that people are less apt to read and more apt to watch a movie, as sad a reality as that may be. What they fail to realize is that the movie they gush over was most likely a book (or series of books) first. Just look at the credits for most movies and you'll find it was based on a book.

Something else people miss out on is that in a book, the world is what you make it, not to mention Hollywood is notorious for cutting out huge portions of a book and changing everything around. I hate that, really I do. Case in point, Angels & Demons. The movie was barely recognizable in comparison to the book. Probably had a lot to do with the fact that they (stupid Hollywood) made Da Vinci Code first which was actually book two in the Robert Langdon novels.

Anyways...

So as an author, is it relevant to have a goal of making your book into a movie? I mean the odds are astronomical that your book would be made into a Hollywood blockbuster but is wrong to dream? Besides when you, the author, are creating the world of the book is it not a movie inside your head? Just a thought...

Author Spotlight - J.A. Schneider

Picture Description:
“Maria Moran’s first inkling of trouble was the coppery taste in her mouth. It came suddenly, a rushing whoosh of something that made her gag, and when she reached to wipe her mouth, her hand came away smeared with blood.”

So begins this thriller about a young intern, Jill Raney, determined to investigate tragedies and terror at a famous fertility and genetic engineering hospital. When two pregnant women die and a fetus is delivered with severe chromosomal abnormalities, Jill’s superiors - including handsome, smitten-with-her resident David Levine – insist there’s no common link.

But her suspicions deepen with the grotesque murder near the hospital of another pregnant woman - her belly drained of amniotic fluid. And when a woman miscarries in the hospital and then disappears, Jill frantically searches for her - following a terrifying path that seems to link all the victims: Is someone playing with life...and the structures of human life itself?

An unforgettable tale of suspense with a shocking denouement, Embryo takes you deep into the mind of malignant genius.
