Final Guys #127 – Crawl
Crawl is a horror movie about killer alligators and a category five hurricane. That alone puts it in Final Guys territory. But does being directed by Alexandre Aja and produced by Sam Raimi give the simple premise enough to chew on?
Our weekly horror reviews are Rabid, The Lure, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Furies, Hell House LLC III – Lake of Fire, Silent Hill, Homecoming, It Follows, and Zombie Bigfoot by Nick Sullivan.

Final Guys #124 – In the Tall Grass
We’re diving into the Netflix original movie pool this week with In the Tall Grass. Adapted from the novella by Stephen King and Joe Hill, this horror film has a tall task ahead of it. Does King’s adaptation winning streak continue or is this more reminiscent of his 80’s fare?
Our weekly horror reviews are Thirst, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Joker, Frogs, Demon Wind, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, Doom: Annihilation, The Institute by Stephen King, and Decayed by Jason ‘The Douche’ Brant.

Day 135 – Just Checking In
Didn’t blog this weekend because I didn’t feel like it. My allergies or a cold or the goddamn plague has been kicking my ass lately.
I did manage 1023 words on Saturday in Don’t Blink. It isn’t finished, but should be tomorrow before the Final Guys livestream.
That’s it for now. Back to regular posts tomorrow.

Day 132 – Back Catalog Work
I spent the entire morning working on my back catalog listings. The essentials of this consisted of removing all of my books from the expanded distribution on Smashwords and moving them to Draft2Digital.
When I first started down this self-publishing journey, Smashwords was a huge player in the market. I loved what they were doing. Giving someone like me access to libraries and small little storefronts was incredible.
They’ve done next to nothing in the past six years. I’m sure someone working for the company would argue that they’ve added a store here or increased payments from quarterly to monthly.
That’s true.
But compared to the strides D2D has made, Smashwords has become all but extinct. So I’m unpublishing all my work from Smashwords, except for their storefront, and posting them to D2D.
Will this make me a lot of money? No. Will it give me better access to libraries? Yes. And it gives me more options for changing my pricing, updating my books, and seeing what kind of promotions are working for me. D2D is light years beyond Smashwords.
Because I’m changing everything over, I’m using the opportunity to update my books with new back matter. Basically, I’m adding links to my latest books, podcasts, and website to all my old work.
It’s a thankless process, but these are the kinds of tiny things that add up over time. Just adding affiliate links to all my books in my back matter adds up to a few hundred bucks a year. It’s a shitty job, but it really does pay off.
This morning, I updated The Hunger series. I’m hoping to get around to the Asher Benson saga tomorrow. The rest should happen by the end of the week.
And I managed to sneak in 1100 words on Don’t Blink. Looking good to finish in the next few days.
See ya tomorrow.

Day 131 – Pissed Off
It took over six hours to deal with the accountant. That experience left me defeated, exhausted, and pissed off. My income has dropped dramatically during my two year… sabbatical… and it sucks. So I’m on the warpath.
And my last release was crap, as expected, so I have a lot to chew on.
This blog is going to change from ‘what works’ to ‘I’m figuring it out as I go again and I’ll let you know what happens.’ Gonna be fun.
I managed 2100 words on Don’t Blink today, or roughly 8-10 pages. Looks like I’ll wrap it up on Sunday or so. Could be Saturday, but I don’t know how this story will end, so it could go a bit longer than expected.
I’m also going to pull Broken (Asher Benson #3.5) from the Asher Benson boxed set and publish it standalone. Neither of these will make me money, but I enjoy writing shorts. And it will give me more to drop in the Patreon bucket if I decide to go that route.
In the near future, I’ll go through the ups and downs (mostly downs) of the newest release and post my analysis of it. Spoiler alert: Amazon is now pay to play.
See ya tomorrow.
