Anasazi Honey: No Sweets for the Ancients?

Imagine my surprise when, at a recent outing to the zoo with my elderly father, I saw a poster that claimed there was no honey in the New World until the introduction of European honeybees. Were the Anasazi, and other Native Americans, without honey?
