Book review: Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

Another great read!
I really enjoyed The Bromance Book Club (where Braden DOES eat Liv’s Chinese food) and I enjoyed his one just as much. As before – I loved the dialogue, both between the main characters and between the boys. I like that the men sounded so blokey. I also liked that the book discussed gender expectations (on both sides). I particularly liked the fact that the women who had been hurt got to bring the bad guy to justice by themselves, ...

A Country Escape by Jane Lovering

Oh, I loved this book!
Katie has moved herself and her fourteen year old daughter, Poppy, go a damp cottage outside Christmas Steepleton. She wakes up one morning to find a pony in her back yard and a wooden caravan just outside.
It turns out the caravan (and Patrick the pony) belong to ‘Granny Mary’ – who is quite the character and they will be staying until Mary is well enough to move on. With Mary’s arrival, comes Gabriel – who is slowly going blind and m...

Book Review: Spirited by Julie Cohen

Spirited by Julie Cohen

This was a lovely, uplifting read.

Viola and Jonah are married, but they’re virtually strangers to each other. Which is weird because they’ve been friends all their lives. Henriette is a charlatan, but a very good one.

This is a historical novel set in the time of the Raj. It took me a while to get into it, but once I was hooked, I read the rest in one day. I loved how Viola grew stronger as the book went on and how the story between her and Jonah resolved. ...

Masterclass.com for writers – a review

Masterclass for Writers – is an annual pass worth it?

I’m coming to the end of a Masterclass annual pass that I bought last year and I’ve been meaning to review the classes I took. So here they are. Note, the links to Masterclass are NOT affiliate links (I applied, they rejected my application!). I really enjoyed the courses, so I thought I’d share. The links to Amazon are affiliate links and if you click through, I get a few pence (but it doesn’t cost you anything extra).

First of all, wh...

Book Review: A Seagull Summer by Jane Lovering

A Seagull Summer
A Seagull Summer by Jane Lovering

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Leah is in Dorset collecting seaweed samples for her research. She’s socially awkward and possibly not neurotypical. She’s really, really bad at talking to people.
Brendon is a Australian tourist who is visiting the area trying to find out what happened to his great-grandfather. He has absolutely no problem talking to people. He’s the ray of sunshine that Leah is not.
Brendon is terrified of seagulls. Roger is a hand-reared seagull who...

Book review: A Bicycle Built for Sue by Daisy Tate

A Bicycle Built for Sue A Bicycle Built for Sue
by Daisy Tate

This book made me cry (in a good way).

The story follows four very different women – Sue, who is still reeling from being widowed; Raven – the big brown goth girl – who is struggling with her identity and independence from her family; Septuagenarian Flo, who is refusing to embrace retirement and TV personality, Kath, who is realising that she wants more than to be the bright and cheery face of breakfast TV.
These four women all end up on a charity bike...

Book review: The Bromance Book CLub by Lyssa Kay Adams

The Bromance Book Club (Bromance Book Club, #1)The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read this book and wished I’d thought of the premise.
Gavin breaks up with his wife and is devastated. He finds help in the form of a secret book club that his team mates belong to. They read romance novels in order to understand how to talk to women and how to be better partners to their wives and girlfriends. The first rule of book club is that you don’t talk about book club.
Thea is Gavin’s estranged wife and mother of his ...

That Holiday In France is out today!

My latest novella, That Holiday in France is about … that’s right, it’s about a holiday in France. I wrote it before the lockdown, so people don’t stand two metres apart and don’t wear masks, as was normal in the Before Times.

It’s a light(ish) summer read and it’s quite short. I hope you enjoy it!

Book cover for That Holiday in France

When Ellie’s boyfriend forbids her from going to France to attend her best friend’s wedding, she decides she’s had enough. She dumps him and goes to France by herself. But travelling alone i...

Inheritance Books: Stefania Hartley

This week’s guest on Inheritance Books is romance author Stefania Hartley. Welcome to the Inheritance Books sofa, Stefania. Grab a seat while I put the kettle on. While we’re waiting for the water to boil, why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself?

Stefania Hartley

I was born and grew up in Sicily, then I came over to the UK in my early twenties, for a university exchange programme. I took the ‘exchange’ bit so seriously that I ended up exchanging rings and vows with an Englishman, who’s now my husband o...
