Comic Arts Brooklyn

This Saturday I’ll be at the great Comic Arts Brooklyn festival, at Pratt, with the Uncivilized Books table, which is A19. It’s along the far wall, I believe. I’ll have brand new copies of My Dog Ivy. Admission is free, come on by.

Inappropriate

This is just to announce my new book, Inappropriate, is coming this January from Uncivilized Books. Inappropriate is a collection of my best works, many of them involving animals doing inappropriate things.

Big July Diary Post

This is the first year I wasn’t able to meet my own challenge of one comic per day in July. I’m so glad I gave up so early, though. I’d have made myself miserable and been difficult to be around, once again. Instead, I really enjoyed making the comics I did do, and I was really involved in the actual life around me.
I’ve been out in the mountains in Northern California for the past month, with limited internet access, and have only been able to post these on Instagram (@ms.gabriellebell), but now I’m compiling them up here for you, in case Insta is not your thing. I’ll keep working on and posting this series as I go along, now that I’m back in civilization.

Oh-I forgot to mention-if you’re wondering why it’s so messy, it’s because I’ve been drawing with my left hand, to rest the RSI in my drawing arm, but also because it’s become a fun challenge.

Never Ending Tour

If you ever wanted to see me in the person and haven’t, it might be your chance within the next few weeks. Here are a few events which I’ll be participating in (if you click on the images you can see the details of the events):

-Next Thursday, May 9th, from 6:00 PM til 7:00 PM in NYC, I’ll be on a panel for the PEN World Voices Festival called Resonances, along with writers Niviaq Korneliussen, Bridgett M. Davis, Willivaldo Delgadillo and moderated by Esther Allen.

-Then, on Saturday, May 11th, I’ll be in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the inaugural Wordplay literary festival. A lot of big names will be there.

Here is where you can find me at Wordplay:

I’ll be signing at the Uncivilized Books table on Saturday, May 11th at

-12:00 PM to 3:00 PM with Kristin Tipping

-3:15 to 4:15: I do a reading/slideshow called “More Than Words” at the Loft Stage

-4:15 PM to 5:00 PM: Signing at Uncivilized Books

-8:00 PM: I was roped into doing a reading for LitCrawl at Morrisey’s. Come see me squirm!

On Sunday, May 12th I will be signing for one hour at the Uncivilized Books table at 10:00 AM with Erik Johnson, just before I fly home again, if I manage to survive the brutal day of extroversion that Saturday will be.

Finally, a couple weeks later, on Thursday, May 23rd, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Printed Matter back in NYC, Seamus O’Malley and I will be discussing  A Place Inside Yourself, a new book about Julie Doucet and ME!
