Timestamp: (5:51). Trump backtracks on helping arm Ukraine against aerial attacks from Russia, and the drone attacks worsen significantly.

Pentagon halting some promised munitions for Ukraine
Ukrainian forces halt Russian advance in Sumy regionLet’s end with some notes on faith
The Pentagon has halted shipments of some air defense missiles and other precision munitions to Ukraine due to worries that U.S. weapons stockpiles have fallen too low.
The decision was driven by the Pentagon’s policy chief, Elbridge Colby, and was made after a review of Pentagon munitions stockpiles, leading to concerns that the total number of artillery rounds, air defense missiles and precision munitions was sinking, according to three people familiar with the issue.
…
White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said in a statement the decision “was made to put America’s interests first following a DOD review of our nation’s military support and assistance to other countries across the globe. The strength of the United States Armed Forces remains unquestioned — just ask Iran.”
As you know, if you want true peace, I believe you should look to God and the Bible for that — not a country, not a party, and certainly not a person. I believe that not only can God give you ever-lasting life, but that He can also give you peace in this life. God is like a good shepherd. He leads you by the still waters. He restores your soul. He guides you out of the death and destruction of sin. If you know nothing about the Bible, but want to test the waters and maybe try it out, check out my resource page here.
By the way, if you’re dealing with depression, PTSD, or thoughts of suicide, I have a link I’d like you to check out. In fact, it’s an entire page long. A pep talk, if you will, that I believe will help. I also have listed a hotline that you can call, whether you’re a service member or just a civilian. Here’s the page: PTSD.
Reminder: If you know nothing about the Bible, but want to read some of it for the first time in a while (or maybe ever), check out my resource page here. I know it’s a big book that can seem overwhelming, but that link can help you. And yes, you can read it from a phone, computer, laptop, etc. (See my link above.)

Trump has a big week (at least for now), and Ukraine scores some huge wins, too.

Timestamp: (0:22). The insane pace of our news cycles right now, and a historical reminder of how it once was (and why the current way is so bad for our mental health).
Timestamp: (3:16). America bombs Iran, Trump negotiates a ceasefire, and the political fighting about the effectiveness of the strikes takes off. (All in a matter of days.)
Timestamp: (8:08). This is a big victory for the Trump Administration, at least for the moment.
Timestamp: (10:02). But big questions (and obstacles) remain for President Trump. Let’s look at those…
Timestamp: (15:37). Two BIG reasons that we’ll know the truth of how successful the US bombing campaign was against Iran in the coming weeks and months.
Timestamp: (17:46). Three big challenges Trump will now face with Iran.
Timestamp: (25:31). Was this the best week of announcements for Ukraine in nearly a year? Let’s cover three good things that happened for Ukraine.
Timestamp: (30:53). Has Trump changed in his feelings toward Ukraine, following a pivotal NATO meeting in Europe? It certainly seems so.
Timestamp: (38:47). While the world focuses on Iran and Ukraine, China continues to build up its threats (and capacities) toward Taiwan.
Timestamp: (43:32). Let me end by sharing some Biblical wisdom and spiritual encouragement.

Will the United States hit Iran? And will the Iran situation rip apart MAGA?

Timestamp: (3:11). Where did all the Aghan lovers go?
Timestamp: (9:56). Israel hits Iran.
Timestamp: (13:07). Why now? Why did Israel pick this time to strike?
Timestamp: (17:02). Why is the US being drawn into this war?
Timestamp: (22:26). Trump made two promises he can’t keep when campaigning last year.
Timestamp: (24:13). How bad is this rift in MAGA on a potential joining of the war against Iran?
Timestamp: (33:52). The dangers of mission creep?
Timestamp: (36:59). Why Trump is to blame for this mess; and why he should probably do it.
Timestamp: (43:12). Trump bungles -- badly -- why Russia is no longer in the G7.
Timestamp: (46:37). Ukraine continues to be pummeled by Russia from the air.
Timestamp: (50:05). Russia is gaining ground along the front, and we have to be honest about that.
Timestamp: (51:35). On the bright side, Ukrainian aviation is attacking more Russian frontline positions.
Timestamp: (52:36). Additionally, Ukraine has an idea that might help counter the drone attacks. And I continue to believe that Europe should help defend the skies over Ukraine -- at least over the capital city and the rear areas.
Timestamp: (57:53). Let me end by sharing some Biblical wisdom and spiritual encouragement.

White House welcomes Afrikaners to the U.S., but drops protection for Afghan allies
Trump is about to cross his base — BIG TIME. No matter what he does, really.
As one analyst said so well…
When he campaigned last year, Trump convinced one set of Americans he was going to be Israel’s biggest ally.
But he convinced another set of Americans that he was totally turning the page on American foreign policy.
And these ideas are not reconcilable.
Trump probably hopes Israel can finish the job, but is not clear that they can.
And Charlie Kirk and other big name MAGA supporters are trying to keep Trump from bombing Iran.
See this poll, which ran on X.

And here’s Charlie Kirk warning what a threat this issue is to Trump and MAGA.

Incredible accuracy.
And I had mentioned in my podcast, probably a month or six weeks ago, that Ukrainian air power was increasingly being used in offensive strikes on the front line.
And this appears to be continuing with increasing frequency.

Timestamp: (45:42). Several important updates on Ukraine, which have barely made the news.
Timestamp: (49:31). Latvia says Russia is stalling on peace negotiations, Russia makes some notable advances on the ground, and Russia’s economy continues to face a crushing interest rate problem.
Timestamp: (57:40). Russia could send "little green men" to test NATO's resolve, according to German intelligence.

Russia Launches Biggest Drone Assault of the War, Ukraine Says
Trump has said he’s grown less confident in being able to strike a deal with Iran curbing the country’s nuclear ambitions, saying in a new interview that Tehran could be “delaying” striking an agreement.
“I’m getting more and more less confident about it. They seem to be delaying, and I think that’s a shame, but I’m less confident now than I would have been a couple of months ago,” Trump said in an interview with a New York Post podcast that was released earlier on Wednesday.
“Something happened to them, but I am much less confident of a deal being made,” he went on, saying it was his “instincts” telling him a deal was moving further from reach.
The attack used almost 500 drones and missiles, breaking a record set just days earlier, as Russia tries to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defenses, which shot down most of the weapons.

Latvia’s foreign minister, Baiba Braže: “Putin is now following step-by-step Russia’s well-worn negotiations manual: issue absurd maximalist demands and blame the other party for not accepting them; concede nothing; continuously delay the process; reset expectations; wait for others to present compromises or concessions; and exploit this as weakness.”
Russia could send "little green men" to test NATO's resolve... U.K., Canada and Others Impose Sanctions on Far-Right Israeli MinistersThe push to blacklist Mr. Ben-Gvir and Mr. Smotrich had been weeks in the making and underscored Israel’s growing diplomatic isolation. It came after Britain, Canada and France issued a stark statement last month about the treatment of civilians in Gaza.
…
While the United States did not join the action, British officials said they had sounded out officials in the Trump administration about the proposed move in recent weeks and had not encountered strong resistance.
…
In their statement, the five countries said that, as of April, extremist Israeli settlers had carried out 1,900 attacks on Palestinian civilians since last year. This violence, and the inexorable expansion of settlements, the statement said, undermined the prospects for lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
Let me end by sharing some spiritual encouragement for you all out there.

Israeli Soldiers Open Fire Near Gaza Aid Site. Gaza Officials Say 27 Are Killed.
Despite Mr. Trump’s complaints about Ukraine, the United States has continued to provide intelligence to Kyiv, save for a pause for a few days after Mr. Trump took umbrage with President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office. It has also delivered weapons and equipment authorized by Congress during former President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s administration. But that authorization, about $61 billion, is expected to run out in the next few months, and there is no talk in Washington of another appropriation of funds.
…
Their expectations have been boosted by Mr. Trump’s overt frustration with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia. Mr. Putin has intensified the war, hit more civilian targets and begun a summer offensive, rather than agree to Mr. Trump’s desire for a cease-fire and an end to the bloodshed. Ukraine and Russia met Monday in Istanbul for peace talks that yielded little progress.
But the European members of NATO, who also represent the largest and most important members of the European Union, are largely united in their commitment to support Ukraine no matter what Washington decides to do.
It was the second such shooting in three days near a food distribution center, which is part of a contentious new Israeli and American-backed initiative.
These comments below by Tom Friedman from this story. 😳😳I had never even thought about this point he’s making. 🤯🤯

An outline by the Trump administration would allow Iran to continue enriching uranium at low levels while a broader arrangement is worked out that would block the country’s path to a nuclear weapon.
Let me end by sharing some spiritual encouragement for you all out there.

Insider Brief for The View from the Front podcast, edition 5-29-25

Timestamp: (0:06). Can Erik Prince help save Haiti?
Timestamp: (5:20). Germany will help Ukraine produce long-range weapons. Let’s talk about what’s known about this situation.
Timestamp: (6:39). Hegseth diverts a billion dollars from rebuilding old barracks to troops operating on the border. Let’s talk about it.
Timestamp: (8:54). Ukraine and Russia exchange a thousand prisoners. The largest POW exchange to date.
Timestamp: (10:40). Have you heard how large Poland’s army is lately?
Timestamp: (11:51). The shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers opens some nasty possibilities. Let’s talk about that a bit.

Here’s a list of audio topics (and commentary) covered in this episode.

The 5-29-25 edition of The View from the Front podcast.

Timestamp: (3:23). Let’s start with some great commentary on the Russia-Ukraine situation, from the perspective of Finland’s President. Here are some great reminders in here that are often forgotten.
Timestamp: (8:42). Russia is raining hellfire on Ukraine. Should countries of Europe send anti-air units and air force squadrons to Ukraine?
Timestamp: (14:23). The United Nations has condemned Israel’s new aid program in Gaza, after a chaotic start. And European countries are increasingly furious. You cannot starve 2 million people in Gaza and expect the world to remain quiet.
Timestamp: (21:11). Donald Trump’s “Golden Dome,” and why I think it’s the dumbest idea ever.
Timestamp: (30:10). North Korea launches a new ship, and it fails spectacularly. And though it’s kind of a humorous story, there are important things we as a nation should learn from this lesson.
Timestamp: (36:39). Let me end by sharing some spiritual encouragement.
Hi everyone! Thank you for being here.
If you’re new to the show, let me say this. Each week, I cover hot spots and critical threats that might affect our country, as well as keep you informed about our military. I end each show by sharing some verses from the Bible (without being too pushy).
My hope is you end each show better informed, less worried, and more optimistic (about both our country and your life).
Also, huge shout out to those of you whose paid subscriptions make it possible for me to devote time and resources to researching and compiling the news each week.
As a reminder, monthly paid subscribers through Substack also get access to bonus audio summaries and special “Insider Brief” newsletters. These typically drop once a week.

YEAR AGO, for 30 drones to strike Ukraine in a single night was considered exceptional. Now Russia is saturating Ukraine’s air defences with hundreds of them. On May 25th the Kremlin pummelled the country, with what it called a “massive strike” against Ukrainian cities, featuring 355 drones, probably a record. Russia is using more missiles, too: 69 were fired on the same night. As a result, Ukraine is once again stepping into the unknown. If the current ceasefire talks fail, which seems highly probable, air-defence units will need to ration their interceptors. More Russian missiles and drones will get through, to strike towns, cities and critical industry.

Triple trouble for Israel as its furious allies bail
A chaotic start to a heavily criticized food distribution system. Mounting anger from Europe over its threats to dramatically escalate a ground assault in Gaza. And growing pressure from the United States to reach a truce.
Israel is weathering one of its toughest weeks on the diplomatic stage since the start of the war in Gaza, as its allies, including President Trump, appear increasingly fed up with the protracted war, as well as Israel’s conduct of it.
On Wednesday, the United Nations denounced the new Israeli-backed aid operation in southern Gaza, a day after the chaotic launch of the initiative, when thousands of hungry Palestinians rushed a food distribution site, prompting Israeli forces to fire warning shots.
Israel had barred humanitarian aid from entering Gaza for more than two months, causing widespread hunger, before allowing shipments of food, fuel and other goods to begin flowing in last week. But desperately needed relief — either from the old U.N.-run system or the new Israeli-designed one — has yet to reach many Gazans.
YOU MIGHT think it would be impossible for the inferno in Israel and Gaza to burn hotter. Yet Binyamin Netanyahu is fuelling three parallel emergencies; a humanitarian one in Gaza, a torching of support among European allies and a constitutional crisis over who controls the security services, army and courts. The pressure on Israel and its institutions is almost unbearable and a culminating moment is probably imminent. But whether that comes in the form of a re-invasion of Gaza which finally ruptures Israel’s alliances and fractures its armed forces and society, or through a U-turn or ceasefire that triggers the prime minister’s political demise, remains dangerously unclear.
