Trip To Cardiff
Amos:
Well, I'm home from a fabulous trip to Cardiff over the Easter weekend. Arrived to a very tasty meal at Jamie's Italian. The Honeycomb Cannelloni is highly recommended.
Sunday, a visit to Bristol was on the cards for some graffiti/street art hunting. Some cool pieces were found and the weather was very well-behaved.
Sunday night, there was a party at the other half's sister's and brother-in-law's (who very kindly put us up over the weekend) with an amazing buffet, cocktails and great company. There was a particular dish containing a particular potato salad that took me in its arms and made me fall in love with it in the most intense way.
Monday we all chilled, we ate cake and pumpkin pie, and played the coolest board game every – PANDEMIC!
Now I'm back home, having popcorn at Cassidy's.
Bye for now! xxx

ROLL ON APRIL…
Cassidy:
March is almost over and as I sit here reflecting over the past few weeks I'm wondering if I have possibly developed a stomach ulcer from all the stress.
What with my husband at home recovering from an operation and my youngest daughter sick and off nursery for two weeks, I've had to do some major juggling to fit writing book 2 into my schedule. Who said being a housewife and mum of two would be all coffee, soaps and biscuits…oh yeah my husband, in fact I think he still believes that's all I do! Thank god he didn't contract a case of the 'man flu' this month otherwise I might have had to throttle him! To top things off, while searching for a pair of undies to wear I came across one of my pre baby bloomers – a size 10! (I'm now a size 12-14 UK size) anyway for some reason my sleep deprived stress addled brain decided this was a sign that I needed to get back into shape! For the past week I've been eating Weetabix and half a banana for lunch! I think my digestive system has gone into shock from the lack of sugary snacks!
All I can say is good riddance March and helllooo April, may you bring a healthy household, a good nights sleep and a less rotund bottom!
Amos:
Well, March for me saw the continuation of my addiction to Dynasty. I've been collecting the dvds and indulging in some fabulous 80's Prime Time Soap Action! It is so delightfully lavish and OTT with killer one-liners (mostly delivered by the fabulous Joan Collins as Alexis) and wonderful outfits. Dynasty is a delicious guilty pleasure that I just cannot get enough of.
I'm looking forward to April. I don't know why, I just think April seems cool – like a really interesting character you'd like to sit down and have a beer/whiskey with and talk about anything and everything. Yeah, April is a cool cat
Cutting down on the sugary snacks – yeah, me too! Not easy. Nothing better than a nice slab of chocolate or a Bakewell Tart. One is not going cold turkey though! Not possible!

SUCKS TO BE ME
SUCKS TO BE ME
His amber eyes watched her every move as she filled her coffee mug and took the first satisfying sip. Her back was to him but his eyes were like a burning caress running over her body, caressing her buttocks and sweeping over her long lithe legs.
She should have worn trousers.
Lara wasn't stupid. She knew what the abrupt dismissal of his last few TAs and then their subsequent expulsion from their University courses meant. The man had clout. He went through TAs like dirty socks. She was, if all accounts were correct, his fifth this semester alone.
She was not going to lose this job over a chemical attraction, because, despite her derision for the man and his methods, she couldn't deny the sizzling chemistry between them.
She needed this job, needed the extra money, needed to keep her pants on!
Days turned into weeks and the pull became stronger, the need becoming almost unbearable. God, she wanted this man. Henry. It was a mundane name for such a vibrant man. In the close confines of his office they rubbed shoulders more than once. The odd deliberate yet subtle brush of his thigh against hers, his cheek close to hers as he leaned over her shoulder to study a paper she was grading, his breath warm on her neck as he advised and counselled.
It was driving her crazy.
A hot coil of need burned at her core. She was losing the battle not to succumb; it was only a matter of time.
It was late on a Friday evening. Henry was on holiday the next week and they had worked late preparing the lecture plans for the professor who would be standing in for him. Lara was exhausted. A glance in the bathroom mirror had shown her a pale, drawn face. She stifled a yawn. The last paper graded and the last plan drawn, she was more than ready to hit the road, away from the overly intimate confines of the study, away from a man who had weakened her resolve.
"Thanks for staying late," Henry touched her arm lightly. She looked up from packing her briefcase and lost herself momentarily in the depths of his amber eyes. His lips were quirked in a half-smile, his hair slightly tousled; he had the most adorable habit of raking his hand through it.
"No problem," she said, surprised at the slight breathless quality to her voice.
Dammit!
He glanced out the window into the moonlit night. His brow creased in a thoughtful frown. "Let me give you a lift home," he said. "It's late and I'd feel better if I knew you'd gotten home okay."
Her heart was suddenly pounding extra hard in her chest, his frown deepened, and for a moment she imagined that he could hear it.
"You look pale," he said with concern. He sighed. "I shouldn't have asked you to work late, it was selfish. It's just nice to have the company…you're company." His expression softened.
Oh, God! She was going to be sick! Mammoth butterflies were doing the mamba in her tummy and her mouth was suddenly extra dry. She licked her lips, unwittingly drawing his attention to them. His eyes lingered on her mouth for a moment too long to be completely innocent.
Great, now she was giving off 'take me' vibes!
If she denied the lift then it would look weird, like she didn't trust him. But if she accepted and he had a hidden agenda then she would be playing right into his hands. Only if you want to play into his hands.
She clicked her briefcase closed, took a step back and composed her features into a suitably grateful expression. "A lift would be great thanks."
The night was warm and clear, she'd cracked open her window and a gentle breeze ruffled her hair. Long and dark it fell almost to her waist, she kept it tied in a low ponytail most of the time but had released it from its tie as soon as they had exited the building, shaking it out and running her fingers through it. It was an innocently sexual gesture but she had realised her mistake when his amber eyes had widened in blatant appraisal and appreciation. She'd avoided his gaze as she had slid into the car and kept her eyes on the windshield before her.
It was a fifty minute drive to her home and she wasn't sure how she would endure being in such close confines with the man. Tension filled the vehicle and she was afraid to breathe too deeply, lest she add to it in any way.
She could see his hand on the gear shift, it was a large hand; a man's hand. His muscular thighs clenched and flexed as he pressed down or eased up on a pedal.
She glanced at the dashboard clock, only ten minutes into the journey and she was already wet.
The car suddenly served into a lay-by and came to a halt.
She glanced up at him in surprise, her eyes wide open windows to her tumult of emotions.
He was breathing hard and as he shifted in his seat to face her, she realised he had an erection. Her womb contracted in response.
"Maybe we can make a detour by my place," he said huskily.
She dropped her gaze, couldn't look into those thickly fringed eyes, afraid of what she would reveal.
She'd failed.
She nodded.
Lara stepped onto the porch and stretched. The sun was just cresting the horizon and she could already tell it was going to be a beautiful day. The promise of clear skies and warm climate, however, did little to lift her spirits. She'd failed and the guilt sat like a lump of cement at the pit of her stomach.
She'd have to quit her job of course, pack her things and leave. She sighed and glanced back at the house. It had been an amazing night. More than she could ever have imagined. She shivered in pleasure at the memory of his hard body on top of hers, the deep smooth thrusts of his long thick cock. She felt a twitch between her legs at the recollection. His hands and mouth had played her like a fiddle, eliciting gasps and moans, and at one point even a scream of pleasure. She allowed him to give and she had taken and taken and taken. God, it had been glorious. She glanced down at her hands, turning them over. She could see the silvery glow of his life force shifting beneath her skin.
She was glowing.
A stab of regret pierced her heart as she recalled her last vision of him; an empty desiccated husk lying sprawled naked on his bed.
The authorities would surely puzzle over his demise, but invariably they would concoct a story, a sequence of events that fit into their limited perception of the world. Meanwhile, Lara would disappear into the crowd. New face. New name. It was a lot of work which was why she had avoided taking him. She could never control herself around men like Henry. Men like Henry were made to be devoured, not sipped. She allowed herself the tiniest stab of irritation at the weakness that had landed her in this predicament.
Sometimes being a succubus sucked!

PACKING OUR BAGS…
Now that Crimson Midnight has finally been unleashed onto the world, we will be stepping back into The Ether for an interview with some of the characters from the book. We're both a little nervous about the trip as it has been a while since our last visit and we have no idea what to expect. If you have read Crimson Midnight then you will understand our concerns, if you haven't then shame on you! Regardless of the risks, off we will go, because book two won't write itself and if we are going to continue to get the events correct we will have to keep in touch with that world and the amazing people who live in it.
