crimson-darkness-new-cover1.jpg

London is in the grip of an unnatural darkness. Rose is in the grasp of an unrelenting power and Raven and Thistle, along with their supernatural allies, are battling to survive and find a way to restore their home city.

For the fey, the song remains the same. They must return the power to Faerie or die. Unfortunately for them, the task has been superseded by an even more important one – help save Earth or perish along with it!

For Rose, the stakes are even higher as she is forced to make a terrible deal that will damn her if she does and damn her if she doesn’t.

Now enemies must work together as allies if they are to save their worlds from an ancient threat…

The Crimson Series Continues…

Hi, all! :-)

Okay, we have some news for you. We’ve said before that The Crimson Series will be 3 books long, but we have come to realise that there is more story to tell.  So, we are very excited to announce that The Crimson Series will be continuing beyond Crimson Dawn (#3).

We are taking a break between books 3 and 4 to write a new non-crimson book and then we will jump back on to that Crimson Wagon and continue :-) We will keep you posted on the details of book 4 in the future. Remember to keep an eye out for news on Crimson Dawn – which is coming Autumn 2013! :-)

Bye for now!

5 Dating Tips with Thistle and Rose…

Thistle and Rose’s Top 5 first date tips:

Thistle: Always shave your legs!

Rose: Seriously? I find not shaving helps more, especially if you are trying not to sleep with the guy on the first date. I mean, you’ll know you have hairy legs and so you’ll defo not invite him in for coffee or whatever *winks*

Thistle: Hmm… I’ve never had that problem. If I want to shag a guy on the first date then I go for it.

Rose: Fair play.  What’s tip number two?

Thistle: Ooo… Do not, whatever you do, talk about your ex-boyfriends or your sexual exploits…total turnoff!

Rose: I agree! Number three… Hmm… Don’t get pissed on a first date. Never get pissed on a first date!  For one thing it’s undignified and for another you might say something you’ll regret the next morning.

Thistle: Although the guy could be a total waster in which case you’d need alcohol to numb the pain of the date.

Rose:  In which case I would just make an excuse and leave.

Thistle: Why leave when you can get him to buy you booze?

Rose: *stares at Thistle in shock* You are a total hussy!

Thistle: *preens* And proud of it.

Rose: *Laughs* Okay, number four. If you like the guy then do flirt but don’t ramble on and on…Urgh.  Men find that off putting.

Thistle:  Let your body do the talking.

Rose: Er, yeah. Okay, final tip. Never, and I mean NEVER, order anything spicy, with garlic or anything that is going to cause… You know what!

Thistle: I don’t have that problem.

Rose: * glares at Thistle * Lucky vampire, ain’t you?

Thistle: Yep.

Rose: Okay, so we hope you’ve enjoyed are little tips. Good luck out there in the dating world.

Thistle: Toodles, people!

Rose: Bye!

At Flo’s House…

“Hi, Flo! What’s for dinner?” Damon says.

“I was gonna make escargot tonight, with cavier for starters that I picked in Harrods,” Flo responds. She gestures for you and Damon to enter her charming home.

“Really? That is fantastic!” Damon is getting excited – the werewolf does have an expensive pallet.

“What ‘ave I told ya abaht droolin’ on me floor? I was jokin’, luv.” Flo produces a cheeky grin and winks at you. “Come on through to me kitchen.”

“Yum, I can smell Shepherd’s Pie!”

“Yep, that’s what I’m whipping up. Let me share me recipe with ya…”

You sit with Flo and Damon at the kitchen table…

Okay, I don’t do all that measurement stuff but I suppose I’ll have to give you some idea of how much to lob in.  Hmmm…

Ingredients:

Lamb mince – 1lb

1 clove garlic

Some chopped frozen carrots

A sprinkling of pepper .

A dash of olive oil

A nice big onion

Some frozen peas

Butter

Flour

Chicken stock

Thyme – I use the dried stuff but you can use fresh if you want.

A glass of red wine

A glass of white wine – for me to glug!  Hee hee!

Tomato puree

Worcester sauce

Mash potatoes – use Maris piper or red potatoes for best results and make sure you heat the milk before putting it in. I use Bertolli butter meself but you can use what you like. A dash of salt while mashing adds some flavour.

Medium cheddar cheese.

Putting it all together

I think that’s everything. So in a nutshell you chop up the onions and carrots and crush the garlic.

Lob the onions in a pan on a medium heat and let them melt.

Add the mince and brown it.

Once the mince is brown drain the fat and stick in the crushed garlic. Let this cook for a minute or two then add a spoon of butter, then the peas and the carrots

Sprinkle a couple of spoons of flour and stir it in. Add the wine, puree (2 tablespoons) and a couple of dashes of Worcester sauce and Bob’s your uncle!

Let the whole thing simmer for a bit, then add the chicken stock. Let this simmer till it gets nice and thick then add salt and pepper.

Lob the whole thing in a casserole dish and top with the mash. Brush the top with some more butter and stick it in the oven on 200 degrees for fifteen minutes. Take it out, sprinkle on some cheese and shove it back in the oven for another ten minutes or until the cheese melts.

Lovely Shepherd’s Pie!

London with Damon…

London with Damon…

You have been travelling through the ether, tumbling through swirling colours and lights. Suddenly you find your feet on solid ground, standing in the summer sun and a friendly face greets you…

Hi! I’m Damon. Welcome to London. I’m here to give you a tour. How are you feeling? A little dizzy? So you won’t be hungry, then? You are! Cool! You’ve been dropped off in the right place.

BAGELS AT BRICK LANE

Well, here we are in Brick Lane. Busy, eh? It’s become very popular over the years. By the look on your face you don’t seem so keen on walking down it with all those crowds. That’s cool; I won’t do that to you. I’ll bring you back on a quieter day another time. But first, you must try one of the famous bagels from this place right here. It never closes. I’m being serious. Christmas Day its shut but other than that its open 24/7! Yes, there is a long queue but it is very fast moving. Come on, let’s join it. I highly recommend the salmon and cream cheese. They are perfection.

Okay, now we’ve eaten, let’s take a walk through Spitalfields Market and head to Liverpool Street Station. We’ll pop into the chocolate shop in the market as they have some wonderful things in there.

Have a look at the Tube Map. Can you make sense of it? No. You’re confused? It seems that way initially, but it is really easy to use once you’ve used the Tube a few times. Let me show you:

So, we’re at Liverpool Street and we want to get to Barbican. We need the Circle Line, Metropolitan Line or the Hammersmith and City Line – yellow, purple and pink respectively. We need to go west, two stops. Do you see? Trust me; it is easier than it first looks. Okay, let’s head to the westbound platform.

Ah, here comes a Metropolitan Line Train. Hop aboard…

BARBICAN

Yes, those tower blocks are huge. A friend of mine lives right at the top of that one there. She’s away on holiday otherwise I would take you up there. The view is incredible.

You and Damon are taking a walk across the walkways to The Barbican Centre.

What a lovely day. No rain! Brilliant! Well, welcome to The Barbican. I often watch films at the cinema. It is my favourite cinema in London – so cosy and just cool. And I’ve seen a lot of concerts here too and art exhibitions. I want to show you the Curve Space today; there is something really wonderful there currently.

Ah, yes, the water is a lovely touch. That church? That’s St. Giles Cripplegate. It is one of a handful of surviving medieval churches in the City of London.

THE BRACELET

Wasn’t that wonderful? Oh, I have this to show you.

Damon reveals a string bracelet with blue beads treading through it.

This is from my friend Maxwell, a warlock. He made it to alter reality. Well, not really. This won’t alter reality, just manipulate it for us. Using this will have absolutely no effect on anyone else. It’s purely for fun. Once I’ve used it for what I want it will turn to dust. But I won’t use it yet. You’ll see later.

LOOKING AT THE MAP

Okay, now we’re back at Barbican Station let’s go somewhere else. You try… Don’t be scared. We’re going to Elephant and Castle next. How do you think we’ll get there? That’s right! Well done! The Circle, Metropolitan or Hammersmith and City Line to Moorgate, then the Northern Line (The Black Line) to Elephant and Castle – very good. Shall we?

EMPTY LAND

This is called the Heygate Estate. It looks formidable? It does at first, but its not. It’s actually quite heartbreaking when you look at this empty place and realise that this was a place people called home. It’s not fair, in my opinion, but I don’t want to start ranting and venting my opinions on you. If you want to know more about the coming demolition of this place, then look it up. I wanted to bring you here to show you the graffiti.

Now, graffiti, like all art, is subjective. I love it and think that a lot of what has been painted in this place is wonderful and a form of expression. Again, I could go deeper and talk more on this but I won’t. Just have a look…

THE BRACELET PART TWO

So now we’re leaving Elephant and Castle because I want to show you something. Let me just fiddle with this bracelet. Max said to tap each blue bead once…

A blue light bursts from the bracelet and engulfs you both, the world beyond the blue gone. Within minutes the world returns and the air is cold. You find you have a coat, scarf, hat and gloves on. Its night time now, the sky is clear of clouds and filled with stars.

RIVER WALK

Welcome to the Southbank. That building right there is the The Royal Festival Hall, next to it is The Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Hayward Gallery. Come, let’s walk a bit.

Here is the skate park that is going. If this was the real now, I’d get you to sign the petition to save it. Do it online when we part, please. I’d love to be able to ride a skateboard.

It is so pretty at night here – the blue and white lights in the trees, the Thames beside you, the wonderful landmarks. I think the Southbank is best enjoyed at night.

What’s that? Why is it so cold? Its winter now, thanks to the little bracelet. We’re going to walk to our final destination on this tour. Take in the sights, we can even visit The Clink (I’m not telling you what that is as I want to surprise you). Shall we get a hot chocolate from this stand?

GENTLE LIGHTS

And here we are – Southwark Cathedral. It’s beautiful isn’t it? This is one of my favourite buildings in London and my favourite at Christmas because of that tree. Look at it, that tiny little tree, adorned with such simple white lights that glow so sweetly by the entrance. It’s not big and flashy like other decorations around the city, and that is why I love it. I come here every Christmas to sit and look at it, relax in the cold night with those gentle lights. Let’s take a seat on this bench.

Okay, well that’s the end of my little tour. I hope you enjoyed it. I bet you’re hungry again, aren’t you? Well, we’re going back to the real London, in the summer now. The bracelet has done its job. Flo has cooked a huge dinner. You’re going to be blown away by her amazing cooking. Ready?

The world spins once more and you are transported to a warm evening. The sun is     setting in a sky of pinks and oranges. You stand with Damon at 5, Ellison Street and the werewolf knocks the door.

“Coming!” a voice calls.

The door opens and there is Flo…
