The Story of A Man And the Other Woman

I'm thrilled to find this review, written by book reviewer Aurora Dawn, for my Women's Fiction novel and first-in-the-series, My Own Voice.
Check it out:

5.0 out of 5 stars The Story of A Man And the Other WomanByAurora Dawnon August 6, 2018Format: Kindle Edition This touching and often painful story chronicles the life of a young girl captivated by an older man who is obsessed by the wife he loved and lost to Alzheimers. Told as a first person memoir from the girl's point of view, this story has the same lyrical quality I've come to expect of Poznansky's work. Lenny, the broken and obsessive husband, Anita, the wife and Ben, Lenny's son by his first wife engage in the kind of psychological struggle only a family can, haunted always by the lingering ghost of his first wife Natasha.
This story, like most great dramas, isn't always easy read, but you'll find yourself unable to leave it alone and these characters will stay with you long after you've finished it.

Don't you dare

And so I find myself standing here, on the threshold of where I grew up, feeling utterly awkward. I knock, and a stranger opens the door. The first thing that comes to mind: what is she doing here? The second thing: she is young, much too young for him. The third: her hair. Red.  I try not to stare—but to my astonishment, this girl with the kittenish eyes seems to be my age, so much younger than I have previously expected. Her name is the one thing I know for sure: Anita. She moves fast, and with a slight sway of the hips, just like my mother, which makes me want to forget, for a moment, that she is not. She lays a hand on my suitcase, and she drags the thing—as if it were a wounded hostage—into what used to be my room. I walk in behind her, captivated, at each step, by folds playing across her tight, short skirt. “There,” says Anita. And she kicks the thing to the corner of the room, shoving it along the way from side to side to make it fit, somehow, under the shelf, where some of my old childhood knickknacks are still on display. And there, half hidden behind my old baseball mitt, is a flimsy metal frame with a dusty glass, under which is a picture I have nearly forgotten: a picture of my family from ages ago. Here is me, a ten year old boy smiling timidly, with a metal brace shining across the front teeth. Here is dad, hugging me with his right hand, and mom, hugging me with her left. The ring on her finger happens to catch the light. Their cheeks nearly touch, because they were such a perfect fit—or so I thought.   Meanwhile, Anita turns on her heels to ask me, “You tired?” “No,” I feel compelled to lie, because who is she to ask me anything. “OK, fine,” she says, shrugging. “Want some warm milk or something, before bed?” To which I say, “What, you think I’m a baby?” With one swift step Anita is right here beside me, which takes me entirely by surprise. With no shame whatsoever, she looks me up and down and bursts out laughing, a deep, throaty kind of a laugh. “You? A baby? Oh, no,” she says. “Definitely not that. What are you, twenty-five now?”“Twenty-seven.”“Your father told me so much about you.” “Really? He did?” “I feel like I know you already,” she points playfully at the picture. “See there, how tight they used to hold you?”I shrug, and she goes on, “I can almost hear them say, Don’t touch this, Ben. Don’t touch that. I can almost hear you, too, like, Don’t touch me here. Don’t touch me there. Just don’t. Don’t you dare.”

Reader's Biblical Delight!

Dolores Ayotte is the author of A Woman's Voice (and other self-help books.) She is an inspirational writer and one of the best reviewers on Amazon. Here is what she said about my historical Fiction trilogy, The David Chronicles:

5.0 out of 5 stars Reader's Biblical Delight!ByDolores Ayotteon December 14, 2014Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase Book 1
The setting in "Rise to Power" is in the appropriate Biblical era but the characters have what appears to be a more modern day method of thinking. Or is this really an age old way of operating and not modern at all? Ms. Poznansky is merely saying it likes she sees it. The discerning reader soon realizes a more sinister plot may have taken place as she spurs us on to think outside the box and entertain all kinds of possibilities. Most of us are very familiar with the Bible story about the young boy David who slays Goliath...however, I encourage you to read this version of his story. You will get an x-ray view of not only how David's mind possibly worked but also of the way Ms. Poznansky's mind captivatingly works in order to entice her reading audience. She does not leave a stone unturned in this intriguing Biblical story as David narrates his tale with and through the eyes of Ms. Poznansky. Watch David come alive with all his human faults, frailties, and fears as he diligently searches for his path to power. "Life in the shadow of death"...is it really that exciting after all? You be the judge.

Book 2
In "A Peek at Bathsheba", the reader continues to get a glimpse of King David's his all-too-human side. In Ms. Poznansky's portrayal of him, his alleged weaknesses hang out like a sore thumb and make it difficult to admire him as King of the House of David who reigns over the tribe of Judea. He has every ambition to influence the other eleven tribes and perhaps rule the nation. Although King David craves a peaceful resolution, his chief general Joav chooses
disastrous triumphs" in his effort to accomplish victory in "his ill-advised civil war against the eleven tribes of Israel". With the untimely death of Joav's younger brother Asahel in one such battle, King David is advised to no longer trust Joav in what appears to be his own quest for power. King David himself is already having his own doubts and fears about Joav but now one of his spiritual advisors has confirmed his very thoughts. But soon it appears that Joav is not his only concern...

King David with his many wives, materialistic cravings, and perceived desire for power are only surpassed by his covetous nature in his pursuit of Bathsheba. He is obviously not above adultery and although Bathsheba does little to ward off his advances...afterall how could she possibly refuse a King?

Book 3
"The Edge of Revolt" is the third and final installment in the Chronicle of David Series. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series, Book 3 is my favorite thus far. It is penned by the same gifted author....well-written in Author Uvi Poznansky's unique and captivating style. However, it offers closure to the life and eventual death of King David. He has led a ponderous life, a gifted psalmist...filling up scroll after scroll, yet persecuted by the realization of his own humanity and need for redemption. Haunted by his love for Bathsheba, the taking of her when she was married to Uriah, and his subsequent act of perpetuating Uriah's murder on the battlefield clearly demonstrates one of the many reasons for the spiritual and emotional turmoil in King David's life. Will he ever find the peace of mind he so deeply desires before his death...?

What an incredible opportunity to find all three volumes of the Chronicles of David in this Boxed Set. It's a great gift, not only for yourself, but to be generously shared with others.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  5 out of 5 starsReviewed: 08-06-18The Music of Us: Still Life with Memories, Book 3 written by Uvi Poznansky and narrated by Don Warrick. This is another amazing addition to the world the author has created. This time the story is told from Lenny’s point of view. We find out how the love between Lenny and Natasha started. The story begins in the early 1970’s as Lenny struggles with facing the fact he is losing the love of his life to a horrible disease that at the time there was so little known about it. He has to decide if he will take her the next day for the brain scan.

Lenny then takes us back through his memories of how his enlistment in the marines. How he met Natasha and her memorable Mother. The descriptions of life during the 40’s for the Greatest Generation were truly enjoyable to hear. This is another fantastic part to the puzzle of the story of this complex love affair and slowly budding romance during World War II.

This story holds the listener's attention from the very beginning when they realize what is happening with Natasha. The reminiscing of Lenny and the flashback to how their love began is such a sweet thing because the listener can see where it is going. The overall arch of the story building their love story to take them back to the beginning where he knows what may happen in the future. This is truly a beautiful story. That held my entire attention throughout the entire audio production.

Don Warrick did another great job on this vocal performance. His characterization of Lenny was outstanding. I loved how Lenny singing along really gave the character more heart and soul. The Uncle Schmeel character and Natasha’s mother were also very memorable. This was a highly enjoyable performance from Mr. Warrick. The production value was of the highest quality there was no audio defect the entire performance was crisp and clear. I received this free review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Feel the heat

At last Saul snatches a torch from the corner, nearly breaking the bracket that has secured it in its sconce. Then he comes back to shine the light directly in my face. “Now look, look at him,” he tells the others, over his shoulder. “Who, in heaven’s name, is this impudent child?”One of them leafs through some papers, papers that rustle in his trembling hands. At last, “This,” he says, “is David. David, son of Jesse. In Bethlehem, he’s thought to be a rising star—”“Who cares. Who’s the idiot who invited him?”“Your majesty, perhaps you’ve forgotten... You gave the order to send for the boy. Music, you said, might do you some good, I mean, it might soothe the ailing spirit. Forgive me, that’s just what you said—”“I did, didn’t I,” says the king, acidly. “I must have gotten some exceptionally rotten advice. Should’ve ignored it... What the hell was I thinking!”Torch in hand, he closes in on me. Now he is at an arm’s length. I can feel the heat. The flame licks my forehead. Instinctively I take a step back. “What a fresh face,” he seethes. “What a handsome, fresh face. What a smirk on those lips! What a glint in that eye! Look,” he whispers, this time mostly to himself. “Look at the folly of youth! A mirror of myself, the way I was back then, in the early days... Fucking happy! Thinking myself invincible—better than anyone—and yet pretending, somehow, to be humble. It pleases the crowds... Oh, what a laugh! What a horrible, horrible joke!”Stealthily I slide back. One step, then another.“Don’t you dare—stop—don’t leave me!” cries Saul. “Here, take this!” And in a flash, his hand flails wildly and out of it comes a flame, fuming ferociously, directly at me. It tears the air with a shriek— And before I know it, my hand shoots up and catches the thing, catches the torch by its wooden rod.In a blink his expression changes, or perhaps this is just an illusion, a shadow that dances across his face. “I should have known you could do it,” he says. And I say, “Do what?”And he says, “Recover.” In his mouth, the word is bitter. And I say, “Forgive me, your majesty. Recover I must.”And he says, “You’re too good at it.”And I shrug. “It’s just a skill I have.”“Alas,” he says. “It’s a skill I’m yet to learn.”

There’s nowhere safe for me

Michael drew closer and kissed her forehead. She moaned softly, her eyes brightening. Perhaps she was wondering what it would be like to encircle his neck with her hands and kiss him back. Then all of a sudden, Ash lifted her arms to his shoulders. He stroked them gently, all the way up to her wrists. Goosebumps were pebbling on her skin and his. “Don’t stop,” she whispered.“Sweetheart,” he murmured back, “you’re in a safe place now, here with me.” “I want to believe it.”In place of a reply, he reached for her hand. Her palm felt good in his fingers, it felt warm and oh so soft, and he found himself aroused. She lifted her face to him. Coming closer, he took in the fragrance of her hair. Their kiss lasted no more than a second, a light touch of his lips brushing back then forth across hers, before he eased away. Then she said, “What happened to this girl tells me to use caution. There’s nowhere safe for me.” “I’ll protect you.” “You can’t. You weren’t there last time.”Ash got up to her feet and ever so gently, combed through his hair with her fingers.
She opened the door to get out. “The only way I can imagine being out of trouble is not by your promise, but by mine. One day I’m going to remember who he is, just like Lace did. And when I do, I’m going to kill him.”
Excerpt from my upcoming novel, Virtually Lace

What is this novel about, you ask?
Haunted by the memory of Lace, a beautiful dancer whose throat has been slit, Michael sets out to create a virtual reality simulation of her murder. Can he bring the mystery to life? Can he solve its clues in time, before the killer turns on the woman he loves, Ashley?Suffering memory loss due to a horrific incident in her own past, Ash is unable to identify her attacker. Despite the persistent fear, she puts her life in danger. In a nail-biting twist, she draws out the man who killed Lace, so as to avenge her murder. Meanwhile, the cops treat Michael as their prime suspect for the crime. The only reason they haven’t arrested him yet is an urgent call for their assistance in a rescue, as Laguna Beach is engulfed in flames. On his way back to the murder scene, will Michael manage to slip away from them and save his sweetheart, before it’s too late? And will he get the murderer?

My new novel, Virtually Lace, is on the drawing board. Stay tuned for more glimpses into it and for the upcoming publication date...

A deftly written tale that stays with you

Just found this lovely review of my WWII Romantic Suspense novel, Dancing with Air:

5.0 out of 5 stars A deftly written tale that stays with you BySKY08on July 28, 2018Format: Kindle Edition|Verified PurchaseDancing with Air is a story of deep and abiding love between Lenny and Natasha. While it opens with a challenge this couple faces late in life, we get to start at the beginning. Their love unfolds at a languid pace that poses a stark contrast to the jarring cadence of a world at war. So much is beyond their control as these young lovers are swept away by romance and duty.

Set in Britain during World War II, Lenny and Natasha's story is skillfully interwoven with historical events and provides a vivid representation of life in a dangerously unpredictable world. Told in a lyrical, highly visual style, we're transported back in time. The characters are well-developed, nuanced, and the range of emotions they display is done with tenderness and depth. That's particularly true when Lenny and Natasha are much older and must confront and challenge the boundaries that test the bond between soulmates. I hope you'll read this deftly-written tale that will stay with you long after you finish reading the book.my

The USS Arizona was now engulfed in flames

If, by some lucky, unforeseen twist of events, I were to find myself in her presence ever again, which I doubted, I would probably freeze, not knowing what to say. I was a nobody, and she—a star. Unreachable. Glamorous. There could be no connection between us, except through her music. It would illuminate my life and at the same time, deepen its shadows, giving full meaning to what I felt, in joy and in pain. Such is the power of a muse.I leaned over the radio, eager to hear, ready to find delight in what she was bringing my way. I was hoping to grasp every note before the battery would run out of power and go dead.It was then that my ear caught the first interruption. From a distant radio at one side of the building, a CBS anchorman broke in. At the beginning of the sentence his voice was still subtle, but by the end it became amplified into a blare. “We interrupt this special news bulletin...”Before I could cry, “Hey! You deaf? Lower the volume, down there,” a second interruption occurred at the other side and a third one right here, out of Aaron’s radio. In place of the music, which came to a strange halt after just a couple of notes, a deep, resonant voice said, “We interrupt,” which was echoed once over, “We interrupt...”Struggling not to become downright emotional, it trembled now on the airwaves from three different distances, to deliver the same grave message. “The Japanese have attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, by air. Details are not available. They will be, in a few minutes.”I caught my breath. The cook came running through the corridor, and several other guys gathered around him, all in shock."What did they say?”“What do they mean?”“Where is Pearl Harbor?”“Should we do something?""Well, we're in it now,” said the cook, and to my surprise he added, “We cannot let Japan get away with this."“Let's whoop them,” said one. “Yes,” said another. “Let's whoop them."Meanwhile I was flipping stations on the radio, trying desperately to learn some details about what happened. The reports were vague, all except one. A reporter for KGU radio climbed to the roof of the Advertiser Building in downtown Honolulu, microphone in hand, and called the NBC Blue Network on the phone, with the first eyewitness account of the attack. “This battle has been going on for nearly three hours... It's no joke, it's a real war,” he said. Then his voice was cut off. My heart was racing—no, it was running the gauntlet of emotions, stricken by disbelief, confusion, fear, guilt, and most of all, profound sadness. I had never thought that anyone would dare attack the United States. Now I was wondering what was to come and how it would affect us, how this would affect America as we knew it.I thought about the dead, and asked myself how many lives would be lost before this was all over. Feeling lucky for staying behind, on safe ground, and at the same time blaming myself for it, I slapped my hands over my face and there, there was my friend, Aaron. He was, at this moment, on the other side of the world, but I felt his presence awakening in me, in the darkness of the palms of my hands. First he winked at me, as if to ask what’s a little joke between friends, and I shouldn’t ask him any questions for now, because he wasn’t prepared to answer, not yet. Then he turned away from me, and in a snap, a strange thing began to happen: as if I came to be in his skin I shivered in fright, and saw it all through his eyes. What I saw was a vision of the battleship where he was stationed, which was one of our eight battleships under attack. The USS Arizona, which used to be the symbol of our national might, of our naval dominance, was now engulfed in flames. Falling into it through the black clouds of smoke was a bomb. It was coming with a shriek, and when it hit, for a split second there was no air. Then sparks came raining down, all the way down through the hollowed floors. They hit the ammunition, then the gasoline, and soon the whole place caught on fire. The blaze roared with such maddening intensity in my head that I paid no attention to the silence, the sudden silence on Aaron’s radio. Its battery must have run out of power. It was dead.

Anywhere, my love. Anywhere but here

If you can not see this chirbit, listen to it here https://chirb.it/I6ItNx
Check this out on Chirbit

A mushroom cloud rose over the village of Hanbury high into the sky. And with a guttural sound, mounds of earth were lifted up, then hurled back down into the ground.Meanwhile, from the meadow came the sound of bleating, followed by gunshots. A bullet grazed my ear.“Hey,” I screamed, into the mist. “Stop it! What on earth are you doing? You nearly killed me!”“Didn’t mean to,” said an RAF regiment, now coming into sight, gun in hand. “I was aiming at the sheep, they’re running wild with terror!”He climbed over some mound—a dead cow—and came nearer to see if I was alright. Then he gave me a pat on the back, which started me coughing again.“What happened in the mine,” I asked. “It was so sudden! Was it a German attack?”“Who knows,” he said. “Either that, or something else.”“Such as what?”“Such as someone careless or improperly trained.”I raised an eyebrow—not that it could be noticed, with all the soot on my face—and he went on to say, “Yes, someone who tried, perhaps, to remove an exploder pocket without the right tool. It can be something as simple as that, you know, causing a spark to set off a reaction.”With that he went off, pointing his gun into the dust. Then—just over the plaintive bleating of the sheep and the chaotic blasts rocking the mine—came a different sound. I listened to it in disbelief. It was the most wonderful sound in the entire world: a hum, the low, familiar hum of my Harley. There it was, a silhouette of the beast, with Natasha astride on top of it, hair unfurling in the wind. I wanted to tell her how I admired her courage, the risk she took, riding it all by herself, without my guidance, to get here. I wanted to tell her she should have stayed away. But by now I knew that for me, she would dare take any chance, come what may.“Oh Lenny,” she said. “You look... I have no words for it.”Overcome with sudden joy I staggered towards her.“Come on,” she said. “Let’s go.”In confusion I asked, “Where to?”And Natasha said, “Anywhere, my love. Anywhere but here.”
