Now they bring us to the table (or, to the kitchen then table!) with a range of recipes that reflect moments in their books.

The variety of foods outlined is wide – soups, tarts, dips, omelets, main dishes, deserts from the many locales around the world where their stories take flight. The recipes are offered with skill – ingredients, preparation, how to serve – and accompanying each recipe is an excerpt form the story referenced.

Would he shoot at them?

Next to me, Timmy turns onto his stomach, mashes his nose against the tire, and wedges himself, somehow, between the curb and the Ford. Then he crawls under it toward the rear bumper, making room for me, too. I try to cock my head up from the damp surface. Looking at the scene from under the belly of a car is a whole different experience. Someone stands at the other side of the car, and all I can see is his sneakers, socks, and the hem of his coat, flaring at its bottom. Also, the muzzle of his gun. For a heartbeat, before dark clouds close in, it glints in the sunlight. I reach over and clamp a hand over Timmy’s mouth to prevent him from screaming, from drawing the killer’s attention. A hail of bullets rains down, sparking off the front bumper. Timmy tenses up. His breath trembles as it escapes my touch. I must protect him. I must bring him back safely to his mother. The edge of the curb gouges into my back. I adjust, I turn over. Now it presses against my belly. I must not lose this child, either.Now, the killer kicks the grill of the car, then jams his weapon, hard, into the front window. I know it by seeing only one of his feet on the ground and by the sound of cracking. It reverberates all over as the car shakes. Shards of glass come pinging against the asphalt and stab at my fingers. Why is he wasting his time—at the risk of being identified, or even caught—on an empty car, when all around us, juicier targets come into his view?The first police patrol car tears around the intersection, lights and sirens screaming. It screeches to a halt. A second car follows suit, then a third. Officers file out of both of them, weapons drawn. Would he shoot at them?

Whoa, talk about a story getting to ya.. Things that happen in here would give anyone nightmares for a while.. Its frightening for an adult to comprehand and for a child to witness it much less experience it is downright terrifying..

If your into scary, terrifying, mind blowing stories about shootings and murder that leave you shaken up then you'll find this book is all that and more...
But.. Be Warned, this just may upset you if your a parent of a child that has experienced anything remotely to the storyline...

Verified Purchase This is the second novel in this series and as usual, Ms. Poznansky does not disappoint the readers. It is suspenseful as well as downright scary and will draw the readers into a web of mystery. The author's descriptive passages throughout continue to trap and at the same time, shed a sufficient amount of doubt into our minds. Who is this shooter and what is his connection to the main story?

We, as readers, will remember Ashley aka Ash from the first book in which she was the victim of an assault and was in a coma. In this second in the series, Ash has relocated to Clearwater, Florida, to assist in her recuperation. With her is Browny, her beloved dog, who is indeed one of my heroes in this novel.. Love that Browny! Michael, her boyfriend, has remained in California.

Ash rents a truly dilapidated beach house which seems to be perfect for her needs. But, this house has a mystery of its own including some interesting and strange secrets. Oh, nearly forget it has a spiral staircase, too.

In case a little more action is needed, there are murders, mayhem and trying to solve mysteries about previous disappearances in the Florida area.

Additionally, this author has the ability to delve deeply into the mind of a killer which, I believe, takes an incredible amount of talent... The portions that deal with the punk will indeed leave the readers shaking their heads. Timmy is also a character that will melt your heart.

Well developed characters, a story that flows smoothly throughout and the plot is excellent.

Stop and smell the roses does indeed bring promises of a new tomorrow.

“Oh mon Dieu!” cried the nurse, as she came out to the top of the stairs under the massive portico. Gaping at me in astonishment, she clapped a hand over her head till the white cotton cap nearly flew off. Up to this moment she had been chatting, in quick, hushed tones, with a slender girl whose hair was covered. It was tucked into a red beret, which was tilted, a bit whimsically, over her forehead. Meanwhile I slogged laboriously toward the base of the stairs. Once there I stopped for a breath, then pricked up my ears—but unfortunately, I could barely catch a word. And even if I could, what I managed to remember of my high school French was such that I could barely make sense of it. At any other time I would have taken note of the elegant architecture of the Château de Bénouville. After all, it was built in the style of Greek temples, with an intention to express grandeur. And of course I would have taken note of that girl. From afar all I noticed, besides a sketchy impression of her figure, was that she hugged the nurse and handed her something, some large bundle wrapped in burlap and tied, in a disorderly manner, several times over with a thick rope. Then she streaked across my path, mounted her bike, and took off, waving. A moment later, her farewell cry had faded into the distance. “Au Revoir...” Why I failed to catch sight of her face is a mystery to me now. Perhaps it was because of a ray of morning sun, which slanted at that moment into my eyes, or else—because of exhaustion. I hated having to wince, which made everything around me seem a bit warped. Determined not to limp, I could now advance almost without aching. But the burden I carried kept pressing me down, and the first steps up the stairs were the most difficult. Cold drops of sweat formed on my forehead. Some of them started running down my face and into my eyes, stinging them. I dragged myself up, somehow, with Ed laden on my back, his arms slung limply over my shoulders, his blood oozing around my neck.

A Fine Thriller

Verified Purchase I first read a book by Uvi Poznansky when we were both invited into the same boxed set. Then, impressed by her work, I read a couple more of them. And recently, as soon as I saw this newest novel of hers up on Amazon, I had to buy it. So glad I did!

First off, although this is Book 2 of a series, not only does it completely work as a stand alone, it is quite a riveting story. The main character, Ash, is very believable and touching as she first faces an unwanted pregnancy then becomes the victim of a very disturbed teenage stalker. And what a messed up individual he is. His growing anger, perceived hurts, and irrational behavior is extremely well portrayed, as the plot’s steady build up kept me on the edge of my seat. And by the time a mass killing occurs, I couldn’t believe how chillingly and authentically described it was.

Yet there was another element that also anchored my attention to this book. Throughout Ash’s journey, in spite of her own misgivings about having a baby and her wanting to escape her life at the moment, when she helps out a neighbor by watching the woman’s young son, we soon see a transformation occur within Ash. She develops such a protective attachment to the little one, she turns into a Mother Tiger. A strong woman who is there, ready and willing to fight for the boy, when all the pieces of this thriller’s puzzle come together. Very highly recommended!
