According to this, the idea that some "pretentious books a certain class reads are okay, but others aren't" is still a thing. Read more and change your tastes as needed. Or would you give different advice?

Qanon & Right Wing Symbols

When I wrote Rebel a few years ago, I used the confederate flag and a mashup of a Hezbollah symbol (fist holding an M4 here). It was designed this way to mock the 2-fold ignorance on the right. One is how they are willing to take any popular symbol/words and appropriate it for themselves [1]. This is a kind of we have hard power in society but none of the soft power thing, IMO. They don't have the moral high ground, so to gain that they have to steal from those who are actually oppressed. 

This means that on some subconscious level they know their  movement has no real legitimacy other than "I want to complain and I want no consequences in life". Furthermore this kind of daylight robbery serves double duty by being a kind of mocking of those who are oppressed and come up with these symbols of what they have suffered. [2]

And the other side of this coin is that they truly are just ignorant (what I was trying to get at in Rebel) and wouldn't know what other people are using said symbols for (or truly understand their cause or the fact they themselves are in the reason for the oppression). 

So that Qanon pretends to care about pedophilia while being steeped in it is no surprise. But that the raised fist has been used by the GOP and Qanon groups (sometimes using the same exact fist style as the  Palestinians and others) shows that I didn't take this far enough. But also, like many things one predicts will happen and end up happening... it doesn't feel good man.

[1] The list is plenty long, from misusing MLK's "I have a dream" for conservative ends, to the more obvious "I can't breathe" that I've seen recently. 

[2] Another side is that they see all oppressed people as illegitimate and that if they use it, then it's legit. Yeah, the right wing mind is something else entirely.

Still Wow

The level of crazy that the MAGAts have is high.  Like really high. I'm guessing we see more violence. Also, I find it funny, but not that funny, how the right takes all the leftist talking points and uses them as their own. The "don't trust electronic machines with no paper trail" [1] is a left point for some time, and what happens when we try to pass a law on electronic machines (making sure there's a paper trail etc)? Well the right stops it. 

 This ability to both stop the cure and scream for it is something of a super power for the right. I think it has become louder with social media. The same goes for the other "I can't breathe" "say our names" bs you see. They must, on a instinctual sense, know that the BLM marches were legit moments of rage, so they appropriate those symbols and chants for themselves because it's what they do and what they need to confer on themselves some legitimacy [2]

Just nuts. And it's going to get worse. We should probably figure out how to cut their testosterone injection supplies.

[2] The mental processes of a mob are many, but I'm guessing for each, trying to foment some rage, they're screaming with each other and when they use BLM chants, there's a titillation stealing from those who are actually oppressed, (a knowing subconscious racist wink to one another) as well as saying well then, now that we've said this, aren't we oppressed? I remember in the south when I pointed out racism people loved screaming " you're being bigoted against my views". And no, logic could not break through with them.

Climate Change is still here.

As many of us watched the semi-slow-mo disaster that was the covid response and said the right was incapable of reacting properly to it. More so, Climate Change was the template for a series of denials and what have you that would naturally follow. Now, of course, I mentioned Baghdad Bob as being a perfect representation of what was happening, but I suppose I was wrong as there was no invading army (Covid, perhaps was too amoralistic to many of these fools and they most certainly saw it as a friend, given its actions) and no real day of reckoning. [1]

 

Hell, even with their attempted putsch, we see many GOPers call for unity while continuing to do what they want (which is call for violence and claim the election was stolen). Let's hope that the dems don't fall for this latest gambit of theirs. Unity for them means we allow their attacks to continue unchallenged.

But still, the right, and the GOP by extension, remains the most dangerous organization in the world, given how willing they are to essentially sell off all of humanity to Climate Change, just so their donors can make a few bucks. 

So now, I'm hearing, from the likes of my own father and some other relatives, the right wing talking points filtering through about Climate Change. 

You see, outright denying that the world is no longer warming is too hard and the evidence is too ubiquitous to do anymore. So what are they doing? A mixture of things, apparently. Things like making it seem a matter of individual choice (carbon footprint, something even I'm guilty of talking about), or that it's too late (it isn't, and there are levels of warming that may mean CC is inevitable, but how bad will it get?), or claiming (this one I've heard from my father) that Climate has always changed and that we will adapt (mainly BS, especially since the people saying this aren't even pushing for R&D that will help us adapt to said world, but again there are scenarios that mean things get worse than we thought, nevermind that unlike before, the world is warming faster than previous moments and the warmest it's been in millions of years, also said times of warmth were pre-human), or that the doomsayers are going too far (they aren't, but again, we can act). 

Their tactics will always change, and I'm not sure we can change their minds. The lifestyle wars that started the 21st century (aka WoT) might worsen, or we can do something about it. Knowing the tactics they use is part of it. Be safe out there.

[1] Why this was is beyond me. I'm guessing that the lies spewed through the right wing media chamber is stronger than I thought. Also many didn't see body bags on the streets (and reading DeFoe shows that even that isn't a real long lasting deterrent), so perhaps that's why they're batshit about it? But, then again, I remember their reaction over Ebola and I'm forced to think that maybe, just maybe, we have a large section of tribal whites who love screaming over something, anything really, and will do so at the drop of a hat. Your thoughts?

Yeah Use Signal When You Can

It appears that more people are joining Signal. The funny thing about it, is that I get to see which of my friends have joined (not sure about this feature, specifically). There was a huge jump in people I knew in the military joining over the Trump years and now some random friends have joined since the putsch 1-6. Still recommend it, though if enough people use it I'm sure the gov will crush it. Best fight against that and when the time comes, we'll have to all call our reps etc. Be safe.

Man Does the Right Know How to Whine Or What?

 Not that their ability to cry over nothing doesn't mean we shouldn't take it seriously. Mainly because they are quick to move to violence over nothing as well. Picture how the right loves themselves some cancel culture (truly the only ones who do it well) used it against just about anyone and now, when they get just a sliver of what they've dished out. So here's Rush with some whiney baby stuff:

 "Another question, ladies and gentlemen. Is it fair to think that what is happening to conservatives on social media…? I mean, we are being censored out of existence. We are being silenced out of existence. We are being pummeled, we are being threatened, we are being intimidated out of existence. So is it fair to think that what is happening to conservatives on social media is the same thing that happened to their votes?"

 Lol, I can't twitter so my vote, which works by a completely different mechanism must have been "deleted" as well. Well, gotta keep the grift going and since fear sells, gotta sell outrage. Still impressed with the dumb, though.

Centrists at it Again

When many of us asked the dems to move on impeachment with a quickness and instead we heard "turn the page" bs and so we pointed out that if this shoe were ever on the other foot the right would crush one and all and, anyways, given right mob violence history in this country and the world, one must act quickly to crush this kind of attempted coup, well when we said all this, we were first shushed, then when Pelosi seemed to understand that these people wanted her out, or dead, she reacted, but now it seems it was a little too late. 
And now the right is doing what they do best: that is screaming about fascism of being held accountable and what have you. And of course, unity, which mainly means dems should STFU. Seems like Pelosi needs (and still understands the gravity of the situation) to not fall for that BS. But if she had acted quicker, that shit would have been passed quicker. Hopefully she doesn't fall for the GOP scream machine, which many centrists tend to do. 
Oh, and the death cult that is the right also gave a handful of Dems (including out esteemed Jayapal) Covid. Guess they're still trying to kill as many as they can via democide.

Police Officer Died

Info here. And several injured by the white supremacist mob. I'm guessing we'll see that all other justifications before for police violence (worried about their safety, well some of them got hurt so of course they retaliated, well some of theirs died! of course they'll retaliate) that are used against BLM protests and any protests against the oligarchs in power (or against white supremacy), will melt into nothing as the police don't actually take revenge on this group of white supremacists. Partially because they know many of them.  Just another thing to keep an eye on as we see mainly GOP centrists on both sides essentially say we can't use the constitution (for the 25th or impeachment) but we can call for a quiet military coup? I mean do people think beyond the next two news cycles? That's not a good precedent, meanwhile having the GOP on record as voting against impeachment is valuable.
Also: biggest riot in NYC? Yeah, by off duty cops. Oh, and the crazy also extends to Japan etc. Yeah they think the election is stolen too. Fun.

As for my writing, short story collection still being amassed.
