What Makes You Unfollow a Person?
We’ve all had to do it. It is just as easy to follow a person as it is to unfollow, but what makes us click that button to get rid of someone?
In the past, I’ve discussed reasons to followor not to follow, but now I’d like to explore the reasons we unfollow.
Personally, I do it very rarely, especially on Facebook, where I have extremely loyal followers and a lot less of them compared to what I have on Twitter.
Recently I unfollowed a Facebook follower and felt badly...

I Should be Excited my Manuscript is Complete……?
I completed another manuscript this week. It’s kind of funny because I had to count on my fingers how many I’d written to date in order to finish updating my Facebook status “Just typed in the words ‘The End’ on my _____ manuscript!”
As I reach this point as a writer, I find I’m more excited about starting a new manuscript than I am about finishing the current one. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful feeling to finally complete a project that’s been on my desk fo...

What Nobody Else Will Tell You About Being an Indie Author

When I began writing back in 2006, it started as a hobby, I’ll admit. Now that I’m working on my ninth book, and I find myself preferring to write over a plethora of other things, it’s become my livelihood. At least, one day I hope it will be.
As I published my first book through a vanity publisher, I was mystified into thinking my book would sell itself merely by being published. What I should have done is paid better attention to the fine print before sending pa...

If You’re Not Using Buffer Yet, You’re Missing Out
It all started out with about 5000 followers on my Twitter account. That was approximately four or five months ago.
Now I’m at over 8000 followers and still going strong. I have a little secret to making this happen: Buffer
What is Buffer? What does it do?
Buffer is an application used for spreading out your Twitter tweets. What it enables you to do is select any number of tweets (tweets, retweets or mentions) from your Twitter stream for retweeting at a later time....

Save Money and Live Better or Save Money and Buy More?

How many times have you gone to Walmart or another discount store intending to buy a loaf of bread or that special lemon drink for your hubby and walk out carrying a hundred dollars worth of stuff? I did it….many times.
Why do we do it?
Well, I personally think it’s psychological. We walk in and see all these wonderful yellow signs that say ‘Save Money, Live Better’ and that gives us permission to spend money….even if we don’t have it….even if we don’t need to buy...

Sacrifices: Confessions of a Full-time Writer

My life was very different about seven years ago, to say the least. Most who know me are aware that I’ve been home with my kids for the past seven years. Before that, I worked as an administrative assistant for a multinational company. I loved that job and I was very good at it, plus the people I worked with were irreplaceable.
When I went on maternity leave, for many months I sat on the fence. I was torn between going back to work and staying home with the baby....

Book Feature: Darkest Day (Book 2-What She Knew Trilogy)

In this historical, yet fictional, novel, Kennedy isn’t on a world tour or even in Texas in 1963. Instead he is in the Alps recovering from back surgery, a ruse that he had planned with brother Bobby and his double months in advance of the tour. With the oval office tapped and the ever present Bobby running interference there was little likelihood that anyone would realize this was not the president. In fact, no one did.
On the tragic day of John F. Kennedy’s assassi...

Book Review: The White Princess

Philippa Gregory, as always, is a wonderfully talented author ofhistorical fiction. I’ve read all her work and have enjoyed every sentence. The characters in this book are very well developed and strong. Especially among the four main characters: Queen Elizabeth, King Henry, My Lady the King’s Mother and Elizabeth’s mother.
Princess Elizabeth, like most Princesses, is forced to marry someone she dislikes and the feeling is mutual. The only reason Henry has agreed to...

Why I’ve Converted Back to the 80/20 Rule for Writing

When I began building my social media platform almost two years ago, my writing career was nearly haulted for at least six months. During that time, I spent literally sixty plus hours a week on social media; blogging five times a week, spending countless hours on Twitter, Facebook and Triberr, reading blogs, retweeting; you name it, I did it.
While I learned a lot from some very informative posts, ultimately one postsaid it all for me:
“It all comes down to this:...
