Procrastination Update

It's been too long since I've posted anything on here, so I thought I'd take a few minutes to give an update on some books/movies I've enjoyed recently and feel compelled enough to recommend. So, in the spirit of procrastination, let's begin.

Books:

Doctor Sleep by Stephen King

The long (looooooong) awaited sequel to King's 2nd book ever and one of his most widely loved and f'in terrifying, The Shining, Doctor Sleep is nothing less than a page-turner. Many reviewers have pointed out that King i...

I'm very excited to announce that the Audiobook and Paperback version of my novel Rough Draft are now available! The Audiobook, narrated by Lucas Kitchen, is available for download from Audible, Amazon, and iTunes. The paperback is available for purchase from Amazon.com. And of course, there's still the ebook version. If you haven't had a chance to check out Rough Draft yet, there's now more ways than ever to enjoy it.

As always, thanks for all of your support.

Emmys, Meet Netflix

credit: netflix

credit: netflix

Something happened yesterday in the entertainment industry,
and it got me thinking. Emmy nominations were announced yesterday morning and
aside from the normal players (Breaking Bad, American Horror Story, Downton Abby
and Game of Thrones racked up their usual nods), the big headline was the fact
that NETFLIX was nominated for 14 awards! That’s right. Good ole streaming
service Netflix, the company that some people only know is “where they get
their DVDs,” produced a ton of great ORI...

J.K Rowling uses Cloak of Invisibility

So we all know the most shocking literary news this past
week (dare I say YEAR? No, I’ll reserve the tragic loss of thriller master Vince
Flynn, at such an early age, for the top spot) is the revealing of Robert
Galbraith’s true identity—None other than Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling.

Who? What?

For those who aren’t familiar with the situation, in April
of this year a new crime thriller was published by first-time author Robert
Galbraith. Titled “The Cuckoo’s Calling”, the book was well received...

Like Father, Like Son - The King and Joe Hill

Two of my most anticipated books of the year dropped about a month apart; one was penned by the Father, the other by the Son. One's name is recognizable to anyone; the other's will be there soon. Trust me.

Joe Hill (The Son)

I have to open with this in case you don't know or haven't figured it out yet: Joe Hill (Joe Hillstrom King) is the son of the literary genius himself, Stephen King. King has another son, Owen, also a writer, but Owen's works are more satire, black comedy-type novels. I've...

Gatsby VS Gatsby

It was a required read when I was in High School and we were also forced to watch the film adaptation staring Robert Redford. I was 17 and wasn't thrilled with either. But when I saw the movie trailer for the newest go at bringing Fitzgerald's most recognized novel to the big screen, I knew I had to give it a re-read. I was glad I did.

During my re-read (this time reading on my kindle instead of a crumpled and worn paperback shared by hundreds of other 11th graders) I finally understood the p...

Author Spotlight: Chris Blewitt

Entering high school at Foxworth Academy - a school for the ultra smart, athletic, and wealthy - Brett Logan is your typical shy freshman. But that is about to change. For years rumors have circled about what goes on in Mr. Martin's ultra secretive history class, and past students have all kept quiet, leaving Brett to wonder what really goes on.

Until now.

When class begins, Brett is joined by Ally, who is prettier than his envious girlfriend, in a race against time. What happens next and the d...
