ROMANCING THE RIVAL
Calypso Falls
BY KRIS FLETCHER
Blurb
In the small town of Calypso Falls, New York, one strait-laced woman is about to learn how to let loose–with the help of the last man she expects.
Oldest Elias sister Bree has always been the pragmatic one, putting academics and family responsibilities before fun. Now in the final year of her doctoral program, she’s this close to achieving everything that she’s worked so hard for. There’s only one thing standing in her way—and his name is Spencer James.
Spencer knows that Bree isn’t happy they’re working on the same committee. Back in high school, the pair were enemies, the hardworking Bree angry that Spencer always coasted to the top based on his family’s legacy. But now, Spencer is trying to stand on his own two feet for the first time. It would be easier to focus if Bree wasn’t so distracting–and as time goes on, he can tell that Bree is feeling the same problematic attraction.
Just when a truce between Spencer and Bree seems possible, the secret history between their two families comes to light, threatening not only Bree’s career, but their budding romance.

Excerpt
Spence’s sour thoughts were hijacked by the long-awaited sight of Bree’s arrival.
He’d expected her to scurry in with eyes down and an armful of books, especially as she arrived barely a minute before they were slated to start. But no. She walked into the room with unhurried grace, her head high, a slim briefcase swinging from her hand. While the other women in the room wore pants—no doubt due to the January temperatures—Bree was in a skirt, one that fit close all the way to her knees. A tan cardigan sweater over a cream-colored blouse . . . long auburn hair that was pulled back, giving the world a clear view of the pearls in her ears . . . square silver glasses halfway down her nose . . .
She was either on her way to a costume party or she had the worst case of Repressed Librarian disorder that he had ever seen.
Except—no. The clothing might be reserved but there was nothing shy about her attitude. She paused at the end of the table, surveying the open seats. Her gaze lingered on each person. Some got a polite smile. Some got what he suspected was the real thing, given the way her eyes lit up incrementally.
Spence got a cool, assessing glance, followed by a nod.
He’d only had to sit through Frozen once—thank God, his nephew hadn’t been into it, and his niece had been past the prime age for it—and he’d spent a good chunk of the viewing time indulging in a much needed nap, so what memories he had were a bit fuzzy. But Spence was pretty sure that the sister who could shoot ice jets from her fingers was capable of more warmth than Bree Elias.
It was a marked contrast to how she’d looked the last time he’d really seen her, with her eyes snapping and her face flushed while she ripped him a new one.
Well.
Time sure brought changes.
Her decision obviously made, she turned to head for the far end of the table. That was good, he decided. It would make it easier to watch her.
Except that when she turned and walked briskly away, he saw that the back of her skirt had some kind of slit. One that went a good halfway up the backs of her thighs. So the steady tap of her heels was accompanied by a totally unexpected, non-Frozen flutter of her skirt. The movement captured his gaze and his focus. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from that provocative dance of fabric. It was like her thighs were playing peekaboo with the world, and holy shit, couldn’t look away.
Bree Elias, he reminded himself. Voted Miss Tight Ass in school. Public disser. Daughter of his sworn enemy.
But damn. The woman could rock a skirt.
Kris Fletcher writes about small towns, big families, and the love that grows despite them. She has a thing for underdogs, which probably explains her lifelong devotion to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Kris shares her central New York home – fondly known as Casa Kitty – with her husband, however many of their kids are currently in residence, two cats, and a large population of wild killer dust bunnies.

BY GREG SANDORA
Blurb
Wealth and Power collide in this Political Thriller! Jack finds what it’s really going to take to fulfill his destiny: To have the power, to dedicate the highest office in the land, to make things right. This time, He’s ALL-IN.
It’s the steamy summer of 2016 in Washington, D.C. Few days before the Democratic National Convention. A long and painful recession has left ordinary Americans suffering, spawning the hottest Presidential Contest in history.
Jack Canon, a man born into privilege, a witness to great social injustice is going to be President of the United States–no matter what!
Desperate and corrupt, the leader of the free world orders a hit to slow him down. The plan backfires–the wrong people are dead–a manhunt points to the unthinkable–The President of the United States.
Rewind one year, Jack’s focus on redistribution of wealth and energy has made him powerful enemies. Once his friends, Rogue Billionaires, Oil Sheiks, the Mob, all want him gone.
The current President wants him alive–thinking he can win against an unabridged liberal.
A Universal Raw Nerve of wealth vs. poverty is exposed becoming a thrill ride as deep machinations of espionage, geopolitics and deception, and murder play out.
Kind and charismatic, Jack’s just naughty enough to have you falling for him like one of his loving circle of loyal friends. Of course he’s flawed, a dedicated family man, faithful to one woman, but in love with two. Is it his fault his best friend is impossibly jaw dropping beautiful?
Think the crime and passion of the Godfather meets the romance and innocence of Camelot. A story that could spark a movement, a book that can seed a revolution. A heart-thumping climax so shocking you’ll pull the covers and draw the shades! One thing’s for sure, through all the drama and suspense, you’ll be pulling for Jack!

Like earlier, when Lisa and I walked into the salon the young women who walked over to greet us made quite an impression. Her movements caught my eye as we entered and I secretly hoped she’d be interacting with us. Walking like it was an art form, she slinked her way toward the front reception area and strangely unlike most people the closer she got the better she looked. An all-black mini dress barely covered her. From a high collar, it scooped ultra-low backless loosely draping her bottom revealing some of her sides and lower back.
I could make out a couple tattoos without trying too hard. They were both in handwritten script; one across the exposed part of her foot read butterflies. The writing flowed beautifully at the angle of her heels. The other–four lines of a story centered across her ribs. Normally I don’t even like tattoos, now I’m fantasizing about tracing the letters with my tongue and tasting her skin. Once upon a time, a girl got her heart broken…
Her hair was gorgeous. She wore it mid back length, stick straight, with bangs touching the top of her softly brushed brows. Crazy, I’ve never liked black hair before, but I was fascinated by the shine.
Close up her face looked smooth as silk like it was in soft focus. Her delicate features reminded me of a new fawn with giant eyes and a turned up nose. I thought the lighting must be magnificent in here, so I looked over at Lisa to test the theory.
Lisa shot me a look like ‘don’t you dare compare me to her.’ It wasn’t the lighting.
Face to face, I focused on her steely blue eyes under large lids covered in smoky dark charcoal.
Her body language was saying no, quickly twitching her head. She looked Lisa up and down as if she was nothing, and then briefly turned a dismissive glance towards me.
Through high gloss lips that were a perfect match for a hot pink scarf she wore, she asked, “What can we do for you today?”
I hadn’t heard a tone that condescending in years. I wasn’t used to being treated like that. The problem was she had an attitude like we couldn’t believe. I thought, how can something all wrong, be so perfect.
Lisa seemed a little uncomfortable too. Then, I remembered, with my Boston Cap and Ray-Bans, I’m as invisible as any other middle-aged guy would be to a girl her age.
As I was removing my sunglasses and cap, Lisa said sheepishly, “Do you have anything available now for a walk in?”
“Right now?” Over a look like you can’t be serious.
“Well, we’re on our lunch hour,” Lisa managed.
During the verbal exchange, I was scanning the salon for eye contact with anyone in charge.
A man came quickly over, “To what do we owe the pleasure today?”
The pink lips said, “I was telling them we have nothing avail…”
“Nonsense,” he said. Bumping her aside with his hip, he moved directly to the middle of the counter.
“I’m Jean-Claude; I’ll take it from here Daphne!” Shooting her an if looks could kill glance, he turned to us.
“Daphne does not realize she may have told the next President of the United States we can’t help him. That will never do!”
He clapped his hands in the air quickly saying to Daphne, “Get my station ready! I will take you myself, follow me.”
Jean-Claude was unfazed by the beauty and dismissed her out of hand. While an assistant was shampooing Lisa, Jean-Claude stood by telling me he was a big fan of the campaign and he wanted to volunteer.
Following Daphne’s movement around the salon as if I was on surveillance, I told him why we came to the mall and hinted he could help by shopping with Lisa if he was serious.
Greg is originally from Maine. He lived and worked in Portland for years before moving to Southwest Florida. His first book, All In: The Race for the Presidency, is a Presidential Thriller, or some might say White House Thriller. Think the Crime and Passion of the Godfather meets the Romance and Innocence of Camelot. The story is packed with action and adventure. One reviewer writes: “Jack Canon’s American Destiny is very intense. Early in the Book I knew I had to put my seat belt on, I was sure this was going to be one hell of a ride, and boy it was. One thing I especially appreciated in this author’s Book is just how he was able to bring the story across with so many twists and turns that all came together masterfully.”
The sequel to All In is titled: Love, Lust and Loyalty, Women of the White House. It’s a story of Kindness, Passion and Courage. It has all of the components of the first book, but leans toward a Presidential Romance Thriller. The sequel is just as action packed, but with more spice, some reviewers say it’s sensual. To quote one reviewer – “Unsurpassable, this story is darn good, a real work of art. Women of the House by Greg Sandora has been written with a vibrating “passion” if that terminology didn’t exist before – it does now….I found that Jack was the kind of guy I liked immediately while Sandy was just perfect – I chose to review it because of the mystery behind it.”
Greg’s Angel Adventure Series includes Gabby, Angel of God and The Protector, Kingdom of Heaven. Both are Supernatural Romance Thrillers involving an angel, Gabby, and a man named Bo. During a visit to Bar Harbor, Maine Bo encounters a beautiful angel named Gabby; quite accidentally, he is told – she wasn’t supposed to make him aware of her existence. His purity of spirit, kindness and capacity for love has revealed her to him. He falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful creature, as humans cannot resist angels. Both books fit nicely in the Supernatural, Romantic Thriller, and Paranormal and Time Travel genres. All Greg’s books have adventures and thrills, are fast paced and have hilarious moments.
Greg’s mom and dad were artists, his father painted and his mother wrote poetry and loved to garden. Most Saturdays the family loaded up the 1970 Chevy Impala to trek to a one man show somewhere or other. Greg took a different track graduating with a business degree; owning and operating an Award Winning Franchise Fitness Center in the Portland area for 15 years. Currently, Greg is living in Florida with my beautiful wife and children, following his passion, writing.

BY JUDY KENTRUS
Blurb
Laura Davis has been the wardrobe coordinator at the Footlight Theater since she was twenty-five years old. A mother and a grandmother, her life has been fulfilling, but now the only man she ever loved is coming home, to stay. Everett Troy is a fan of the people, but at one time, was hers alone. Would she be able to work alongside him and hide her love and secrets?
Confronted by unforeseen challenges, their newly awakened love is tested, not only through personal doubts, but by the unknown enemy that wants to prevent their happily-ever after.
Everett Troy, returns to Beacon Pointe, to fulfill a life-long dream – produce and direct the musical play he’s written. Smoke and mirrors has played a big part in his life since he was forced to leave home when he was eighteen, breaking the heart of the only woman he ever loved.
The carefree lives of four sixteen-year-olds were changed forever when they witness a cold blooded murder. Everett, Jackson, Mason and Ryder, The Association, have shared dark secrets since they were in high school.
As teenagers they suffered threats to themselves and their families. Blackmail was a reminder their lives were under close scrutiny while they achieved success in their chosen professions. As adults they decide ‘no more.’ As they start their investigation into the murder, they have no idea how their lives have been manipulated by their unknown enemy.

Excerpt
The moment Everett Troy stepped into the building, the richness enveloped him in welcome. The newly refurbished lobby of the Footlight Theater looked magnificent and confirmed he’d made the right decision. It was the theatre that had drawn him through its doors and helped bring his talent to life. This is where he belonged.
He needed to see the house and moved quietly over the thick carpeting that led to three entrance doors. The only lights were the thumb-nail spots at the end of each pew. The stage was dark and that wouldn’t do. He knew the layout of the interior like the back of his hand and headed for the production booth. The switches on the control panel were clearly marked. He flipped the one that said center stage spot and grinned. Directly under the beam was a baby grand piano backed by a red velvet curtain. With all that had been going on the past few weeks, he hadn’t found time to sit down and play for his own enjoyment. No time like the present.
Everett moved to the stage and sat on the wooden bench, adjusted his legs under the keyboard. Like an experienced maestro, he lifted his pointer finger and slowly depressed the key of “C”.
The acoustics in the old theater had always been spectacular and the one note reverberated and echoed off the high ceiling and walls.
“You always did know the right key to play. In music and my life.”
The sound of her voice cut right through him and he lowered his hands to his lap. She was the first reason he had to return home. He turned his head and gave her a genuine smile.
“Laura”
“Troy”
Everett moved off the piano bench, folded his arms across his chest and rested his hip against the side of the piano. “You and my grandmother always called me by my last name. I once asked her why she called me Troy. She confessed to loving Troy Donohue.”
“I didn’t have anyone famous in mind. I always called you that so you would remember who you were.”
He nodded in approval of her reasoning. “There were times during my career I got close to losing my identity. Too bad you weren’t around. What’s it been, five years?” He knew exactly how long it had been since he’d set eyes on the only woman he’d ever loved.
“Five years, since you came home for the film festival and gala held in your honor. You were so mobbed by all your fans and the people who wanted to kiss your ass we never got a chance to talk like normal human beings.”
Everett’s cheeks lifted in a smile at her honesty. “You were never cowed by my popularity.”
“No, I knew you as a person first, but I’m very proud of what you’ve accomplished. Hell, my boyfriend is an Oscar winning movie star and Tony award winner.”
He always wondered why she never sold their teenage love-story to the media. “How come you never capitalized on how well you really knew me?”
“What we had was no one’s business and I didn’t want to bring notoriety to myself and my family. You look distinguished with the silver in your black hair.”
“You’re the second woman to tell me that today.”
“The one you kissed goodbye?”
Everett ignored the facetious tone in Laura’s voice. It would be too much to hope it was jealousy. “No, the stewardess on my flight home. You still look like the teenager who wore my high school ring. Technically, you’re still my girlfriend since you never gave it back to me.”
He appreciated she was still small in stature and the well-worn jeans hugged very nice legs. Her bulky sweatshirt bore a picture of Barry Manilow in Concert.
“I hate to burst your bubble, but I believe there is a statute of limitations on boyfriend- girlfriend status. Thank L’Oreal for my golden brown hair and contacts so I don’t walk into anything. My daughter Noreen had another baby two months ago and helping to raise Marion, her 10 year old, keeps me hopping.
She took a few steps closer. “So is it true? You’re really home to stay?”
Everett, too, moved a little closer. He really wanted to pull her into his arms and find out if her kisses were still as sweet, but that too, would come in time, he hoped. He had a lot of years to make up for.
“Yes, it’s what I’ve wanted for a long time.”
“Why now, after all these years?”
“Think of why you call me Troy. I’ve lived under the thumb of agents, publicists, scrutinized by my fans. Everyone wants to run my life or demands something from me. I’ve been engaged a half dozen times to women I’ve never met, suffered through a paternity suit, been called a play-boy womanizer and I’m a drunken lush. You know I don’t drink. It’s time to take my life back.”
Everett moved past Laura and took a determined step to a canvas director’s chair close to the curtain. His arm and hand swung out in a sweeping motion. “This is what I am ready for.”
His speech came out strong and he really wanted her to understand his sincerity and what he was feeling. “Only the principal of the high school and the drama teacher know I’ve agreed to help out with the high school production of West Side Story. I’m not looking for notoriety. I want to influence others, teach them what I’ve painstakingly learned through trial and error, help them become better actors. I want these kids to feel the words, let the music live within their bodies, become the person they are portraying.”
When his staunch soliloquy ended, Laura clapped. “Well done. Is that from one of your movies?”
Everett was surprised by the callousness in her question. What had he ever done to deserve her hostility? He didn’t try to hide the disappointment in his voice. “No, it isn’t. I thought you, of all people, would understand what’s inside me.”
“I apologize. With your help and guidance it will be a wonderful show.”
He watched her walk over the director’s chair and pick up a gold mask. He was confused when Laura brought it to his face and held it in front of his eyes. She was so much shorter, but he held perfectly still.
“Does this symbolize the secrets you’re keeping?”
She couldn’t know, he told himself and lifted the mask from her hand. He tapped her on the tip of her nose that was still covered in delightful freckles. He liked that she didn’t try to cover them up with makeup. At one time, he’d tried to count everyone with kisses.
“That’s for me to know and for you to find out.”

CHICKEN POT PIE
Pre-heat your oven to 400.
Filling
3 TBS butter
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 whole onion, chopped
2 whole potatoes chopped and boiled
1 bag frozen mixed Veggies (corn, peas, green beans, carrots)
1/2 pound chopped fresh mushroom
1 1/2 cups cooked chicken or store bought rotisserie,
2 TBS flour
1/8th tsp Sage
1/8 tsp poultry seasoning
Salt
Pepper
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup half and half
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Saute celery and onions in the butter until clear and cooked. Add the flour and the seasonings and make a Roux. While that is cooking (make sure your heat is on low. It should always be on low with a Roux, otherwise it will burn), in a mixing bowl, mix the chicken broth, half and half, cream of mushroom soup, whisk them together. If it seems too thick, add a bit of milk, or extra, the half and half. But remember you’re putting the frozen vegetables in so you’ll get some water off from them. Add the potatoes and chicken. Throw in the “soup” mixture, and the frozen veggies, stir, and let it cook until it’s nice and thick and bubbly.
Pie Crusts
To save time, I use two pre-made pie crusts. Of course you can make your own but you will need two crusts for an 8 by 8 glass plate (deep dish). Split your dough in half, and roll it out so it fits the bottom of the pan and comes up the sides (spray it or grease it first). Line the pan with the dough. Then pour your mixture in. Roll out the second half, and cover the filling.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or so, until the crust is nice and brown. Keep an eye on it after 15 minutes, as ovens vary.

Are Angels Really Aliens
or
Vice Versa?
By Dina Rae
As a Christian and a believer in extraterrestrials, I wanted to write a novel about some kind of divine or intellectual race of beings who help humans evolve. Are angels and aliens one in the same?
We’ve all heard about UFO sightings, alien abductions, burnt crop fields, and cattle mutilations. Roswell, New Mexico. and Area 54 are the meccas of American X-files. Bright discs are seen everywhere around the world. What does the Bible have to say about extra-terrestrials? Were things so different three thousand years ago? Or are we just using a different vernacular?
Anyone who has ever picked up the Bible knows the story of Noah and the ark. God chose him and his family because they were ‘pure’ (Genesis). The question is pure heart or pure bloodline? Angels mated with women back in those days, producing a half breed called nephilim. These beings were described as giants with superhuman powers. Could the nephilim be an old version of modern day aliens of a mixed race or even early attempts at genetic modification? Was Noah and his family the last ‘humans’ left of the human race?
Angels and aliens are always described as glowing with light. Ezekiel, an Old Testament prophet, vividly describes a spaceship in his book. Ezekiel 1:16: “The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the color of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.” Many Ancient Alien theorists use this passage as documentation of Ezekiel witnessing a spacecraft landing on earth. The description of the wheel is definitely futuristic.
Enoch’s writings about angels were controversial enough to be edited out of the Bible. More of his writings were found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. He regularly communicated with angels and ascended up to Heaven to speak with God on behalf of their shortcomings. Possible abduction? Genesis 5:24 clearly states that Enoch “walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.”
Did angels or aliens come to Earth to show mankind technology and weapons? One of the Bible’s biggest examples of this, at least according to Ancient Alien Theory, is Lot’s wife. Genesis 19:26 says, “But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” Lot and his family were warned not to look back. We know now that nuclear blasts leave salt. There are large salt contents all over the Dead Sea to suggest that there was once an ancient nuclear explosion.
In the Bible these beings appear to prophets, kings, and every day people. In modern day many geniuses such as Tesla and Da Vinci claim that brilliant ideas just popped into their heads. Some alien believers call these moments of greatness part of the Akashic record.
Whatever you believe, angels or aliens were definitely here thousands of years ago. Our history books only tell us bits and parts of our past. The Best Seller, my new sci-fi novel, uses ancient alien theory, New World Order, Nazi conspiracies, and aliens to weave an entertaining tale that will leave you wondering about our collective past. The Sequel, the book’s sequel, will soon be released.
Dina Rae has written seven novels. She lives with her husband, two daughters, and two dogs outside of Dallas. She is a Christian, avid tennis player, movie buff, teacher, and self-proclaimed expert on several conspiracy theories. She has been interviewed numerous times on blogs, newspapers, and syndicated radio programs. She enjoys reading about religion, UFOs, New World Order, government conspiracies, political intrigue, and other cultures. The Sequel, Volume 2 of The Best Seller series, will soon be released by Solstice Publishing.

RUGER
Demented Souls Book 1
BY MELISSA STEVENS
Excerpt
Movement woke her. The arms around her were gone. Krissi rolled over and watched as Ruger disappeared into the bathroom. Grabbing his pillow, she pulled it close, hugging it to her chest while she waited for him to come out. She could get up, but her clothes were still in the living room. The shower turned on, and she closed her eyes, listening until the water turned off again. Krissi lay in the bed, watching the bathroom door when it opened, and a puff of steam escaped with Ruger close behind. He was naked and rubbing a towel through his hair, water droplets scattered on his upper body. Desire raced through her body and heat pooled between her legs, making the dull ache turn to a throb, reminding her she’d had more sex in the last twelve hours than in the last six months.
“You’re awake.” He smiled down at her.
“Yeah, I missed you.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.”
She rolled and stretched, letting the sheet slip off her breasts as she moved. A low growl made her glance back at him. “What?”
“You’re tempting but I’m starving, and you’ve got to be, too. Besides, after last night, you’re probably at least a little sore. Why don’t you take a hot shower to help with that while I go start some breakfast?”
“You cook?” The question was out before Krissi was aware she’d even thought it. Her father had never cooked. He always waited on her mother or someone else to cook for him, as had most of the men she’d dated in the past.
Ruger looked at her with one corner of his mouth lifted. “I gotta eat, and restaurants, even the good ones, get old after a while.” Opening drawers on the chest in the corner, he pulled out a pair of black gym shorts and tossed them on the foot of the bed. Then came a black t-shirt that joined the shorts. “You can wear those if you like.” Ruger grabbed a pair of jeans from the arm of a chair and pulled them on. He zipped them but left the button undone. “Come into the kitchen when you’re ready. Depending on how long you take, I may even have breakfast ready.” His eyes raked over her once more, and for a second he looked like he might crawl back into bed with her. Then he shook his head, turned, and left the room.
Krissi sighed, taking a second to just enjoy the moment, then threw the covers back, got up, and went into the bathroom. She winced at the ache between her thighs as it sharpened to a dull throb as she moved. Still worth it, she thought, turning on the water. Hot water streamed over her, and she let the heat melt away some of her soreness. There was no way the water could wash all her aches away, but it helped tense muscles relax, and that was amazing.
Picking up his shampoo bottle, she sniffed it, wondering if this was part of the scent that drew her to him. Nope, it was just a light, clean scent, not part of the leather and male she got from his skin. Krissi hurried and finished her hair then turned off the water.
After drying off, Krissi put on the clothes Ruger had left for her. The shorts fit okay, but the shirt stretched tight over her boobs, and every movement made the soft cloth move against her sensitive nipples. The one he’d bitten sent bolts of awareness every time the shirt rubbed across her bruised skin, making her smile. She looked down, wondering if he would notice. Did it matter if he did? He was the reason they were so sensitive to begin with.
New York Times Best Selling Author, Melissa was born and raised in Arizona, she’s spent her life living across the southern half of the state. She’s found that, along with her husband and four children, she prefers the small towns and rural life to feeling packed into a city.
She started reading at a very young age, and her love for series started early, as the first real books she remembers reading is the Boxcar Children series by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Through the years she’s found that there’s little she won’t read, and her tastes vary from westerns, to romance, to sci-fi / fantasy and Horror.
She enjoys writing in different genres including contemporary and paranormal romance. She was part of Wicked After Dark, a paranormal romance anthology that hit #13 on the New York Times Bestseller’s list in October of 2015.

FAQ
Did you always know you wanted to be a writer? How old were you when you decided to pursue writing professionally?
When I was eight, I began writing a story, first in my head, and later in my diary. The world I dreamed about was big and complex—filled with interesting creatures. When I turned 40, I tried to translate the story I’d lived with all those years to the page…and couldn’t. So I sought help. Romance Writers of America was the only group that said, “Come on in. We’ll help.” So, I started exploring the craft of writing. That was twelve years ago.
Why would readers enjoy the Elkridge Series?
My Elkridge Series is a puzzle. In book 1, BLINDED, Sheriff Sam is murdered. It will take 6-books to solve the crime. Word of caution: There are some red herrings through the series. Solving the crime will not be easy. If readers like sensual romances, with deep emotional topics, threads of suspense, and a happy-ever-after then BLINDED, a stand-alone love story in the Elkridge Series, is for you. The mystery is solved in the book RESCUED.
Many of your books have challenging topics. Why?
The easiest explanation is that I believe everyone can be honorable, brave and loved no matter the circumstances. Blindness, domestic violence, and abuse can create fear and insecurities, yet each situation can be overcome with a gentle, patient, and healing love. In my heart, love begins with respect and the willingness to listen to gain mutual understanding. Without those two components, a relationship filled with love is hard to build.
How did the Elkridge story line develop?
I don’t want to spoil the series ending, but the series story arc started with Colorado legalizing marijuana, then it went from there. Question after question started popping into my head. The first question was, “How will the illegal drug trade change?” I started researching news articles on drug trafficking to find answers. Then one day a story formed. I’m glad I had my research notes when I talked to an FBI agent to nail down technical aspects of the story. Otherwise, he might have been a little more curious about why I was asking such in-depth questions. There is a saying, “Don’t judge me by my search engine history, I’m a writer.” {grin}
Would you ever do a spin off of the other characters introduced in the Elkridge series?
I love this question! What a great way to introduce the Lonely Ridge spin-off series. I chose to differentiate the Lonely Ridge series from the Elkridge set because this group of books will not have the mystery thread included in the Elkridge series. Each new book will be a stand-alone love story and will include the quirky characters from the town I’ve come to love. I’m hoping to have the first book in this new series out in time for Christmas.
Award-winning author Lyz Kelley resides in a small community in Colorado with her husband and several four-legged family members. She’s a lover of board games, gardening, and painting, a disaster in the kitchen, a compulsive neat freak, and tea snob. She loves writing about strong women who have endured challenges and the men who enrich their lives.
A healing love is at the heart of her book series. Creating wounded yet amazing characters—discovering what drives them, frightens them, heals them, makes them laugh—is what gives her joy. Lyz is pleased to share that joy through her masterfully written stories.

Excerpt
“NYPD. Open up…”
Ever opens the door, but I can only see a sliver of her goddess figure because the chain is still on.
“Oh. Is something wrong, Officer?”
“As a matter of fact, there is.” I tug my ever-present notebook and pen out of my back pocket, pretending to consult the first page, which sucks, since it means taking my eyes off her for a second. “We’ve gotten several complaints about the smell of chocolate coming from this apartment. You know anything about that?”
Ever bites her lip and throws a guilty glance over her shoulder. “Maybe. What’s it going to take to make this go away?”
I lean forward, close enough to hear her breath go shallow through the crack. “What’s it going to take?” I drop my eyes to her exposed stomach where a rhinestone sparkles from its place of honor in her belly button. “We can start with a thorough inspection of the premises.”
About Tessa Bailey…
Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention. She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

SERAPHINE’S
BY JULIA CLARE & VIRGINIA JOHNSON
Excerpt
Two years ago, Jasper walked into her lobby and introduced himself.
“I need a room,” he spoke with confidence, but Seraphine knew the subtle signs to look for in first timers. Though he tried to calm his breathing, the rapid rise and fall of his chest gave away his nervousness.
“Sure, honey. Name, and what are you looking for?” she asked.
“Jasper. I need a room to take care of two old friends for the night.” The underlying meaning had not gone unnoticed to her.
“There are a few forms to fill out, then I can show you and your friends to your room.”
He busied himself with the forms she handed to him, and she stepped back to watch. His shaggy, charcoal hair, fell into his blue eyes as he feverishly wrote. The veins running under the multitude of tattoos covering his forearms pulsed from the grip he had on the pen. No matter how much he had tried to clean up before he arrived, she saw the specks of blood covering his dark jeans.
“All done. Which way?” Jasper asked, handing her the paperwork.
“Follow me.” She took the room key down and walked out the door, he wasn’t far behind.
The last room on the backside of the motel was the perfect one for him. Windowless, sound proofed, large bathtub, and plenty of space to play.
“Pull around and I’ll help you unload.” She couldn’t lie, guests like these were the ones she looked forward to the most. He did as he was told, backing his car up almost to the door itself. Walking around to the back of the car, her suspicions were confirmed. Tied up and gagged in the trunk, was a man and woman. Both were already bloody and bruised, terrified at what would happen next.
“You get the arms and I’ll get the legs, or I can just hold the door while you drag them in.” She almost preferred the latter. As he grabbed the man’s arms, she grabbed the legs and carried him in, dropping him in the middle of the floor with a loud thump. Silently, they repeated the process with the woman before going back to shut the trunk. She waited inside for Jasper, having already decided she would help, and that he may be worth keeping around for a while.
“The bitch cheated, didn’t she?”
