#BookReview THE KING AND THE PAWN by Lyssa Layne #christmas #romance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A lot of story is packed into this novella, and I'm happy that it's going to be a series about the DiDominizio family. There's the father, head of the household, or the King, and then there are the children, sisters and brothers, all with stories to come.
This one is about Francesca, the baby of the family. She has aspirations to strike out on her own as a fashion designer, but dear old dad wants to keep...

#BookReview CATCH OF THE DAY by Kristan Higgins #romance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Another fun and funny story, this time about a restaurant owner and a crusty, noncommunicative lobsterman.
Kristan Higgins has got it down with the over thirty heroine, worried about never finding a man, dating disasters, and wrongful crushes. Maggie Beaumont is one half of a set of identical twins. While sister Christy has everything going in her life: successful, doting husband [check], sweet, adorable baby [check], white collar caree...

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Evan Purser is a bad boy on the outside, but a real sweetheart inside. While it might seem like he's a player and yes, he does does do a lot of women, he's really just a big, insecure boy inside.
You see? He's had a crush on his agent, Camila Lemos, who he thinks is dating his older brother Blake. Besides, Camila has a rule about dating clients -- she doesn't.
While Camila tries to clean up Evan's act to make him more attractive to ge...

Rachelle Ayala rings in Christmas in July! #ChristmasInJuly A Veteran's Christmas
Hi Gang, bet you didn't know us romance authors are busy with mistletoe, candy canes, and holly in the middle of July. While others are sweltering on the beach or frolicking in the surf, I'm getting together a special awesome Christmas for readers to cozy up by the fire and sip hot apple cider while waiting for Santa.
Here's my news. If you enjoyed Bree getting a Father for Christmas last year, you'll love Bree getting a Pet for Christmas this year. [Both A Father for Christmas and A Pet for C...

#BookReview SERVING UP LOVE by Chantel Rhondeau #romance #sports

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a cute story about a professional tennis player and her coach. It's not what it seems though, because in this story, Melanie, the tennis player is the one who is chasing after Ethan, her coach.
Ethan has ethics and wants to keep things strictly business, especially since Melanie's wealthy parents are paying his bills. But the attraction is too strong and one thing leads to another.
What I like about this story is Ethan's backstor...

#BookReview Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins #romance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I'm quickly running out of Kristan Higgins books to read and this one was one of my favorites.
Chastity Virginia O'Neill is someone genuine and true. She's athletic, big and strong, and competitive. She's the youngest daughter in a family of firefighters and she's big and tall - five foot eleven and 3/4 inch.
Unlike other Kristan Higgins heroines, she took a final stand that had me cheering. [not to spoil the story], but what she did...

#BookReview THE NEXT BEST THING by Kristan Higgins #romance

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This story didn't have the laugh out loud funny moments, or at least those moments didn't strike me as funny. Maybe it's because it deals with widows. Ms. Higgins tries to make it funny with her descriptions of the Black Widows and Grinelda, the fortune teller who channel's their dearly departed husbands, but the slapstick is lost on me because I felt the characters were too much caricatures and not real people.
One is the stylish on...

#BookReview My One and Only by Kristan Higgins #romance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Another favorite. I love second chances and boy did Harper and Nick need it. Both had gone wrong with their first marriage--typical lack of communication and assuming things, but when Harper is stranded in Montana with Nick and they take a road trip together, things begin to fall in place.
I love how not everything was resolved and some things were kept unhappy, so that it was realistic, but at the end, both Harper and Nick learned that...
