Let’s Build a World!

A common topic I find among writers, especially fantasy writers, is worldbuilding. Creating the setting around the characters, making the place feel real, authentic, and so tangible and believable that the reader can just about exist in it in truth during the moments when they see the words on the page. I released my own book just a couple of days ago and my editor put up a post on his blog about it. There, he talked about the worldbuilding and creation of cultures, which led me to actually c...

And now, for some news…

Like many writers on the net (or so my guilty conscience likes to tell me), I get so caught up in day jobs and writing and mapmaking and formatting and marketing, that I forget to blog.

True, that also includes staying on track with Doctor Who and reading Sandman, but moving on.

*drum roll*

My debut novel, THE FALCON’S EYE, is finally available on Amazon Kindle for preordering!

It is an epic fantasy tale about a land pirate faced with a past she didn’t know she had, and a future that hangs in the...

Perils of Doodling in Geography Class

Making maps for fantasy novels seems to be a bit of a norm, especially when there’s heavy world-building involved and even more so when characters don’t like to sit still.

It’s no walk in the park. You have a vague idea in your head about what goes where, but when you put it down into a map, a whole slew of other factors come into play. Suddenly, there’s real geography looming over your head and reminding you of all the times you snoozed in class while everyone else was learning about how moun...

Pleasant Surprises

I just got mentioned in a blog post by about.me on authors to follow for summer reading! So now, I’m walking around with a stupid grin on my face while being shooed to eat dinner.

The post mentions a short story that once got published in online magazine ‘Helterskelter’. It’s one of my earlier pieces, one that I wrote during a writing workshop on Wattpad, but here it is.

In other news, dinner. Hungry.

The Upsides of Multitasking

There are a lot. Really, a lot.

Like now. I’m watching Francesco Silva get yellow-carded in the match vs Netherlands (No, I have no idea who I’m supporting. I like both these teams.) At the same time, I’ve got the lineart of my map open on Photoshop, and the second draft of my manuscript going through final edit on Microsoft Word. And I have hiccups.

So yeah, multitasking. Downsides to it? Not many. Besides less clogging in brainspace.

Anyway, what I mainly came to say was this. While ‘The Falco...

Maiden Post

Hello mates and not-yet mates, human, not, and in-between!

I’ve finally decided to tear myself away from my sketchbooks, Scrivener, and Microsoft Word long enough to set up a blog. Here, I’ll be putting up all news and updates about my writing. I do have a book peeking out over the horizon: an epic fantasy novel called ‘The Falcon’s Eye’.

This is a book that’s been nearly seven years in the making, starting from a doodle on my math notebook when I was supposed to be studying for an exam. (Kids,...
