Another New Year!
A rather late, 'Happy New Year' - late because I've been as busy as a workaholic mole (I think they work hard, all that digging!) to get my new book written. It's now with my agent and I be working on revisions over the coming months. Finishing a book is a similar feeling to finishing your exams - you wake up the next morning wondering what to do with your brain. But that feeling doesn't last long. I've got an idea for a new story which I want to get on with - once I've caught up on all the things I haven't done while I've been writing, like clearing out the airing cupboard and taking the dog to the groomers - you know, the glamorous stuff. Hope you're all busy too - keep on moling!

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year everyone!
I entirely love New Year as it gives me a chance to forget all the stuff I didn't do last year and say I'm going to do it all again this year! Wiping the slate clean and all that stuff.
This year I'm resolving to write two new books - one fiction and one non-fiction - I just need to timetable it in and do it, right? Well, that's the theory! Luckily, I have a few good friends who always support me and spur me on.
I'm also starting to teach Creative Writing to adults in January. I'm looking forward to a new challenge and meeting people who want to take their writing to the next level. I'm a bit nervous but really hope I can help people to make the positive changes they want to make too.
One person who has always supported me and my writing is a book blogger called Jim, who blogs at YAYeahYeah here https://www.yayeahyeah.com
I think BookBloggers are amazing - so dedicated to getting the word about great books out there - . So, I was honoured that Emily Sparkes and the Disco Disaster' and 'Emily Sparkes and the Backstage Blunder' are included in YAYeahYeah's list of favourite books of 2016 as 'Hidden Gems of the Year'!
There are loads of other great books on the list too. Definitely worth a look!

Happy Christmas and Free story!
Hello everyone - Happy Christmas!
To celebrate everything Christmassy and Christmas-ish and Christmas-like, I've written a special Emily Sparkes short story called Emily Sparkes and the Wonderland Worries. It's completely FREE to read and download from my website. Hoorah!
In the story, Emily and her friends head off to the local park which has been transformed into a 'Winter Wonderland' - or has it?! find out here!

Lollies!
I feel very happy and grateful this week that Emily Sparkes and the Friendship Fiasco has been included in the Laugh Out Loud Awards shortlist for this year. The awards, also known as the 'Lollies' are the replacement for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize which closed a few years ago. I used to love the Roald Dahl funny Prize and, before I was published, often dreamed of writing something which would be funny enough to be included. One year I took my children to see Liz Pinchon get the award for the first Tom Gates book, I was far more excited than they were!
Everybody loves funny books - if you'd like to get your school involved in voting for the Lollies, follow this link to find out more. http://shop.scholastic.co.uk/lollies
