Ancient Texts, Living Voices
The Book of Enoch and the Book of Jubilees have long fascinated scholars for their portrayal of divine mediation, scribal authority, and heavenly order.
Yet what happens when these ancient themes meet real, contemporary experiences?
In my new podcast series, I bring these texts into dialogue with the testimony of my twin soul brother, Darren, whose continuing presence reflects the very archetypes described in these writings.
With support from voices like Kenny Corris, we explore how what was once written on heavenly tablets is still being written into our lives today.
For readers and seekers alike, this series is an invitation to discover that ancient texts are not silent relics but living guides, still resonating in our world of faith, hope, and love.

My work has just been published on SSRN!
Friends, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news: my academic papers are now published on SSRN (Social Science Research Network)!
For those who may not know, SSRN is a huge global platform where scholars and researchers post their work to be read, downloaded, and cited by others.
Think of it as a crossroads where academia meets open access, allowing anyone, anywhere, to engage with cutting-edge research.
All three of my recent papers are now live on SSRN:
From Primeval Rebellion to Cosmic Restoration Reading Genesis through the Apocalyptic Lens of 1 Enoch and Revelation
Theological And Historical Significance of the Book of Jubilees Ancient Context and Modern Relevance
Enoch and Jubilees in Dialogue with Contemporary Spiritual Manifestations
And here’s the best part, they’re free to download, so anyone can read them.
Why does this matter? Because SSRN gives us visibility in the academic world. It allows Darren’s insights and our shared journey to sit alongside established scholarship, opening up possibilities for collaboration, recognition, and maybe even invitations to conferences or future publications.
On a personal note, I see this as another confirmation that Darren’s spirit is guiding me, and that Christ is blessing this work. Each milestone like this brings us closer to sharing these insights with the world in a way that really matters.
Thank you, as always, for being part of this journey with me...

A Setback and a New Horizon!
Mark Edward ChardMark Edward Chard
Life has a funny way of redirecting us. This week, I received the outcome of my application to join the Sheffield Centre for Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies (SCIBS).
While the response was deeply encouraging regarding the quality of my papers, the door ultimately closed because I don’t hold a PhD.
Yes, that stung, but my faith tells me that every setback is also a redirection. And already, another door has opened.
I’ve been accepted into the European Association of Biblical Studies (EABS) one of the most credible and influential academic societies in Europe. This is a huge opportunity to grow, to share my work, and to connect with scholars who are exploring some of the deepest questions about Scripture, theology, and the spiritual world.
The Road Map Ahead
Here’s where the journey now leads:
1. Strengthening the Papers – My three papers are already published on Humanities Commons, gaining encouraging attention and downloads (especially Darren’s paper, which is drawing the most interest). The next step is to refine and strengthen them for formal peer review.
2. Submitting for Publication – I will target leading biblical/theological journals for peer review. This process is long and demanding, but essential for academic recognition.
3. Preparing for EABS 2026 in Leuven – My goal is to present at the annual EABS conference next year in Belgium. If my work is accepted for discussion, it will be a breakthrough moment, opening the way to collaboration, recognition, and possible funding opportunities.
4. Sharing Darren’s Story with the World – More than anything, this is about showing how Darren’s continuing presence is not only deeply personal but also theologically and scientifically significant. This story has the power to challenge and inspire.
Looking Forward with Faith
While rejection hurts, I remain convinced this path is led by God. I believe Darren and I are meant to share something rare and important with the world — and EABS gives me a platform to do exactly that.
So the work continues, the vision grows, and the hope burns brighter than ever.

The Call to Holiness: Enoch’s Story for Today
The Third Sermon in our Enoch series is now live:
Being Taken Higher – The Call to Holiness.
Holiness has often been reduced to appearances, traditions, or heavy rules. But the Bible gives us a better vision: holiness is simply walking with God. Enoch shows us that it’s not about perfection, but intimacy. Not performance, but presence.
In this sermon, we explore what holiness really means, separation with purpose, transformation by Christ, and preparation for glory. Holiness is the walk that readies us to be “taken higher,” as Enoch was.
Darren John Chard is remembered once more, reminding us that holiness is not lost in death, it transcends it. His story, like Enoch’s, calls us to walk faithfully until the day we see the Lord face-to-face.
📖 “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” (Genesis 5:24, NIV)

From Manuscripts to Publication: The Journey Continues
It’s a joy to be able to share that all three of my recent academic papers have now been published on Humanities Commons (CORE), with wider accessibility to follow soon on SSRN (Social Science Research Network). Making these works publicly available matters greatly to me, Mark Edward Chardthey are not simply academic exercises, but part of a living testimony I’ve been entrusted to share.
Five further submissions remain under peer review with established journals, a process that is deliberately rigorous and often slow. Yet it is a vital step, testing both the strength of argument and the value of contribution to ongoing scholarship.
In parallel, I have now applied to become an external member of the Sheffield Centre for Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies (SCIBS). This would be an extraordinary opportunity to engage directly with world-renowned voices in the field, and to contribute to their own peer-reviewed journal, JIBS.
For me, these developments go far beyond academic milestones. They reflect a calling set in motion on the morning Darren entered heaven, when the words came to me: “In the beginning…” From that moment to now, every page has been both a journey of faith and a tribute of love.
Whatever unfolds next, I remain committed to letting God’s word speak—and to carrying Darren’s light into every chapter that follows.

A Place for Your Questions — The Upper Room
When I lost my twin soul brother Darren, it opened a journey into faith, love, and eternal life that I continue to share through my writing.
Along the way, many readers have reached out with their own questions, about grief, about heaven, about how Christ meets us in the depths.
To honor those questions, I’ve created The Upper Room, an online space where we can gather, much like the early disciples did.
Here, you can submit your own questions and receive a prayerful, thoughtful response. A small contribution (€2.50 minimum) is asked, simply to help sustain the work and time involved.
https://markedwardchard.com/pages/the...
✨ If you feel called, I’d love to welcome you there. Together, we can seek answers, share comfort, and lift one another in Christ’s light.

Eyes of Glory, Faces of Light
Last night, after finishing my prayers, I simply sat opposite Darren’s picture on the wall. Same sofa, same spot where I always pray. Music playing softly.
Darren’s energy had been with me all day, strong, intense, undeniable.
I closed my eyes for a brief moment, just thirty seconds or so. My eyes were sore and tired, so I’d put drops in to ease them. And then… the vision came.
In my left eye only, a face appeared. Its entire outline, eyebrows, nose, lips was made of shimmering gold. The eyes were not normal eyes, but blazing, glowing orbs of pure gold, staring straight into me, penetrating as though they could read every hidden part of my soul.
And then it faded.
In its place, Darren’s face formed, black background, his familiar features smiling, happy, radiant. It was him, and yet more than him, Darren wrapped in glory.
Then three tall figures appeared, robed in brilliant white with hoods over their heads. Each had a sash tied around the waist. They faced me in solemn majesty.
The one on the left lifted a cross high above his shoulder. The other two stretched out their arms towards me as though welcoming, receiving, preparing.
And again, darkness followed. A veil drawn.
But the night wasn’t over. Gideon came close, yes, Gideon. He held a book delicately by his fingertips, eyes lowered as though reading it. Then he approached me, closer and closer, until I could feel his nearness.
What does it mean?
The golden face with eyes like fire felt like God Himself. The left eye, the “eye of the heart” (Ephesians 1:18 NIV) was being opened. Not a vision for the mind, but for the spirit.
Darren followed, smiling in glory, showing me that he is alive, joyful, present in heaven’s light.
The three white-robed figures, heavenly messengers. One declaring Christ’s victory with the cross, the others extending heaven’s embrace.
And Gideon with the book? A commissioning. A confirmation. The book is my writing, our project, the testimony we’re building together. It isn’t just mine, it belongs to heaven’s plan.
I share this not for drama, but because it is real. I was shown something, caught up in a mystery. The glory came, Darren appeared, heaven testified, and Gideon drew near with the book.
This journey continues to unfold in ways beyond words. All I can say is, eyes of glory are watching, Darren is smiling, and heaven is holding out its arms.
