PROMO TOUR: Lord of the Jungle by Sheri Fredricks

LORD OF THE JUNGLEBook 1 of the JUNGLE ISLAND series

by

Sheri FredricksGENRE: Erotic Romance

A shipwrecked woman.

The uncharted island.

Jane Porter craves a thrill but when marauders scuttle her ship and she washes ashore onto an island inhabited by animals and one sexy wildman, that’s when the real adventure begins. Dependent upon her vine-swinging rescuer who acts more ape than musclebound man, she places her survival in his rugged hands and relinquishes her desire to his raw sensuality.

For more seasons than he can remember, Tarzan has lived among the tiny island’s gorilla band. Instinct propels him to save the female he finds half-dead in the surf, but gazing into her eyes, his mating tool dances an ancient tribal beat.

While the pirates search for their bounty, Tarzan and Jane are in danger. To survive, they’ll have to hang onto each other as they swing for dear life. Their adrenaline-rush of passion among the canopy of the jungle threatens not only a dizzying fall from a great height, but also into love.

Before the next surge pushed forward to cover the human’s head, he made a quick decision to help the weakling, who floundered like a newborn gorilla caught in the drag of the sea.

Less than two leaps away, a sharp-pointed fin broke the water’s surface. Drawn by the smell of blood, more would appear in a matter of time.

The stranger lifted a hand out of the water, weaker now, vainly reaching for a source to save him. The arm bore a reddish skin cover sprinkled with tiny yellow flowers that ended below the crook of a delicately boned arm. Colored rocks circled the wrist and a shiny type of silver metal circled the middle finger.

The fin turned with a splash from the meat-eater’s tail. If the human were to survive, Tarzan had to act now.

Avoiding the human’s injured palm, he grasped the small wrist and hoped the bones beneath his tight grip wouldn’t break. Instead of pulling the limp body up, out of the surf, he waited for the next wave to lift the dead weight. Carefully stepping horizontally across the rock and sharp barnacles, he moved away from the dangerous part of the shore. Only when the soles of his feet touched coarse pebbles of shallow water did he move backward to where the sand lay warm and dry.

Safe from the fish that tore meat from the bone, he dropped the thin arm lacking necessary muscle to survive. He stepped back a few paces and crouched on his haunches to watch. Stomach-side down, the small human lay still for so long he feared he’d been too late.

Two thin legs, covered in dark blue to the knees, jerked and twitched. One cough, then another, followed mouthfuls of regurgitated water and a long string of more hacking coughs. The weakling’s arms moved under his chest and pushed at the sand. Turning to flop onto his back, the person lay there taking in great gulps of air and coughing out droplets of sea water. Sand covered a portion of a child-like face; the rest of the features covered by wet, matted hair.

From his huddled position, Tarzan scanned the beach before crab-walking closer to investigate. Curious, he reached his finger forward and slid a hunk of wet hair off the small, pale face.

✯✯✯✯✯Lord of the Jungle - WOW. me Tarzan - you Jane - Let's have some fun.By George R. ParkA wild man-ape is astonished as he watches from the shore as a giant fish starts it final run at the frail human struggling in the water. Keeping a close eye toward the ocean for other humans, he debates whether to save the tiny human from certain death. At the last possible moment he reaches out and grasps the tiny hand fighting the ocean current. Dragging the unconscious body to shore he lays it face down in the sand, stepping back a few paces he watches in fascination as the human chokes and spits out large gasps of filthy water. Jane Porter had struggled with the last bit of her strength to escape from the clutches of the Pirates who had thrown her overboard. Just as she was to sink beneath the water's surface for the last time a rough male hand grasped her uninjured arm and pulled her to safety. Choking and gasping as her body expelled the river water into the sand underneath her body, she finally gained sight of the fearsome beast which had been her rescuer. So begins the tale of Tarzan his encounter with his mate, Jane. Thrilling scenes of escapes from hungry animals below from above in the uppermost reaches of the thick forest; then brutal pirates with weapons; followed by the raw and necessary bonding of the two in the thralls of overwhelming surrender of their wills to each other. Thank you so much for this wonderful read. I enjoyed every line and nuance.

✯✯✯✯✯You can Feel, Hear, See the jungle, let alone the Jungle Man!By Loves to laugh Verified PurchaseEver wondered what it would be like to have sex with a primitive man who has never experienced it before? This is where Fredricks truly excels. The author takes us right into Tarzan's mind. Just fascinating! I dare any woman to read this and not want to be Jane. Pick up this book if you want a wonderful escape, complete with pirates and primates. A glorious erotic adventure, with a cliffhanger ending that has me panting for more. Luckily, more is to come.

PROMO TOUR: Take Two by Traci Hayden

TAKE TWOA Picture Perfect Novel

by

Traci HaydenCover Designer: JC Clarke @ The Graphics ShedOfficial genre of book: Contemporary Romance

Beth Huntley, photographer and devoted bachelorette, doesn’t believe in true love. Too much hurt and disappointment has left her hiding behind the camera. All she can see is a black and white world through the lens.

William Lorde, widower and father, was once an open and carefree man. The loss of his wife has left him wrapped up in the needs of his little girl. He can no longer see the colors of the world as he struggles each and every day.

What happens when these two similarly different people meet and help each other to step out of the world they’ve created for themselves? Will they find a love that helps them heal from the past, enjoy their present and create a beautiful future?

I woke the following morning to the sound of the ocean crashing against the beach. I was still wrapped in William's embrace, my head resting on his shoulder. His breathing was even and soft as he slept.

I was too comfortable to start the new day. Looking around without bothering to lift my head, I located our clothes, neatly folded on the other chair under the cabana. Heat rushed to my cheeks. Who had done that? And when had they done it?

William stirred beside me. "Morning, love." His voice was rough with sleep.

"Morning," I whispered, not sure if our mysterious housekeeper was still nearby.

He was immediately focused. "Beth, what's wrong?"

It was impossible to hide anything from him now. I was an open book now and he was my reader.

"We had a visitor," I said, pointing at our neatly-folded clothes.

He relaxed back into the chair. "Oh, Beth, we're grown adults. We didn't do anything the rest of them haven't done."

He was right, but it wasn't something I was so open to having everyone know. "But..."

"Relax, Beth." William consoled me. "Are you regretting it?"

I was shocked at his question. "No, never!"

"So don't be embarrassed. It's a natural part of a relationship," William chuckled. "Stop over thinking everything."

I hid my face on his chest. He was right; he was always right. How could I doubt what had happened between us? We’d both been ready, and I was sure a few people up at the house were curious why it hadn't happened sooner. I had to stop over-analyzing everything.

A different thought crossed my mind. "Oh my god, William!" I jumped up, scrambling for my clothes.

"Beth? What?"

"My camera!" I cursed as I yanked the tank top from the folded clothes over my head.

"Where did you leave it?" He sounded concerned, knowing what my equipment meant to me.

"On the beach, before we went into the water last night," I yelled as I hopped out of the cabana, still attempting to get my other leg in my shorts.

We spent the next twenty minutes searching the beach. My anger quickly turned into horror as reality sunk in. My camera was gone. Had someone taken it, or had the ocean claimed it?

William tried to comfort me as we trudged up the path to the villa. "All those photos... the airport, the flight, the first photos of Jamaica, they're all gone, William." I was more upset over the loss of the photos than the camera itself.

Voices were audible from the kitchen as we stepped through the patio doors. The aromas were incredible, but weren't enough to lighten my mood. Most people would be upset about the camera, but even if it was my favorite, and worth a ridiculous amount of money, it was the loss of so many memories which upset me.

Jude came out of her bedroom and stopped short when she spotted us. She glanced towards the kitchen as she rushed towards us. She wrapped her arms around me, and whispered loud enough so William could hear her, "Everyone thinks you went for an early walk." I stiffened, unsure how much she knew. "I put your camera in your bedroom." She chuckled as she stepped back. As she turned, she reached out and tugged on William's shirt. "You really do pack neatly."

I stood motionless, completely stunned and my body turned to lava with embarrassment. Just before Jude turned the corner to the kitchen, she glanced over her shoulder. "By the way, William, you should get a tan on that ass."

My love for books began at a very small age. I lived inside the many worlds the local library could provide. The characters within those pages were my companions and my support when I needed someone most.

My imagination began to soar as I grew. I began writing small poems as a teenager, but never thought much about publishing or expanding beyond put my words to paper.

After my children were born our love for a certain TV show fueled my love for writing. Using my children as inspiration, I began to write fanfiction, my children being the characters within the stories.

My passion for putting words to paper (or screen as is the norm now) has turned from passion to obsession. I've made some incredible friends through this journey and in turn, have become not only an author but a promoter and supporter for those whose imagination dreams characters and worlds that I can lose myself in.

I thank my precious children, my beautiful soul-mate and my forever sister and best friend for being my constant rock and support as I continue to walk this road called life.

RELEASE BOOST: Matronly Duties by Melissa Kendall

MATRONLY DUTIESGenre: Romantic Science fiction Centuries after the asteroid that sent Earth into the ice age, the remaining humans live in underground sanctuaries. As the Impact Bi-Centennial Anniversary approaches, Bethanie Greene prepares to take her place as the Government's new leader. Or so she thinks.

With her life planned out, Bethanie trains to become the next Matron of the underground nation of Oceania. Until six weeks shy of taking office she's kidnapped by extremists; then rescued by a handsome stranger.
Harboring a deep-seated resentment of the government, Howard James struggles to survive in a world where those in power wished he didn’t exist. Ironically, he finds himself rescuing the soon-to-be head of the government, Bethanie Green. Torn between his resentment of everything she represents and her beauty, Howard shows Bethanie a different side of life in Oceania, while at the same time opening her eyes to the injustices of the government she is meant to lead.
Can Bethanie trust this man? Who is this handsome stranger who fights everything she believes in?. And he gets under her skin like nobody has even dared before. Against all odds, Bethanie must decide if her heart and her duties can coexist. A yawn creeps up my throat and I suddenly feel like I haven’t slept in weeks. The temptation to curl up and go to sleep is strong, but my body is telling me I need a trip to the bathroom first.
I head down the hall to the door at the end. It’s ajar, so I push the door open—and freeze. The bathroom is not empty.
Howard stands at the sink, naked from the waist up, cleaning his teeth. Without clothing, his shoulders look twice as wide as before and every curve and dip in his muscles is clearly visible. Down the middle of his back is what looks like a big, black T. I have this crazy inclination to trace it to see how it feels.
Howard clears his throat and my gaze shoots up to find him watching me in the mirror. “Do you mind?”
He winks at me.
Oh crap!
“Sorry.” I pull the door shut. I’m mortified to have been caught staring. I also have butterflies in my stomach again, stronger than ever, and my heart is pounding. I fan my face with my hands in an attempt to calm myself down.
Before I can get everything under control, the door opens and a still-shirtless Howard walks out.
“All yours.”
“Uh-huh.”
I mentally slap myself for such an inept reply, but the view of him from the front is even better than the back. He has one of those washboard stomachs I’ve heard Gail talk about. I never understood what she meant, but now I can see how apt the description is. Once again, I find myself unable to stop staring.
“Good night, Bethanie,” Howard says strolling down the hallway.
“Howard? What’s the T on your back?” I ask, curiosity getting the better of me.
He stops and half turns towards me. “It’s a tattoo, and it isn’t a T, it’s a crucifix.”
“A crucifix?”
“Yeah, it’s the cross Christ was nailed to. It is a symbol of the weight I bare in the name of justice.”
“Huh. I’m sorry, I don’t really know what you’re talking about. It’s nice, though.”
“Thanks,” he says, “but I better get to bed if I’m going to be up early to take you to the post office.”
“Night,” I call after him.
“Sweet dreams,” he calls back.
I smile. They might just be. PROMO BOOST: Snow in July by Kim Iverson Headlee

SNOW IN JULY
by

Kim Iverson HeadleeOfficial genre of book: Science Fiction - Fantasy crossover

Sir Robert Alain de Bellencombre has been granted what every man wants: a rich English estate in exchange for his valiant service at the Battle of Hastings. To claim this reward, the Norman knight must wed the estate's Saxon heiress. Most men would leap at such an opportunity, but for Alain, who broke his vow to his dying mother by failing to protect his youngest brother in battle, it means facing more easily broken vows. But when rumors of rampant thievery, dangerous beasts, and sorcery plaguing a neighboring estate reach his ears, nothing will make him shirk duty to king and country when people's lives stand at risk. He assumes the guise of a squire to scout the land, its problems, and its lady.

Lady Kendra of Edgarburh has been granted what no woman wants: a forced marriage to an enemy who may be kith or kin to the man who murdered her beloved brother. Compounding her anguish is her failure to awaken the miraculous healing gift bequeathed by their late mother in time to save his life. Although with his dying breath, he made her promise to seek happiness above all, Kendra vows that she shall find neither comfort nor love in the arms of a Norman…unless it snows in July.

Alain is smitten by Lady Kendra from the first moment of their meeting; Kendra feels the forbidden allure of the handsome and courtly Norman "squire." But a growing evil overshadows everyone, invoking dark forces and ensnaring Kendra in a plot to overthrow the king Alain is oath-bound to serve. Kendra and Alain face a battle unlike any other as their honor, their love, their lives, and even their very souls lie in the balance.

Alain’s friendship with Sir Ruaud, his polished manners and speech, fighting skills, and scars—it made less sense than ever that he could be a squire. “Who are you, really?” she whispered.

His back stiffened, and he released her hand to give her a curious look. Finally, he smiled. “A complete fool.”

She arched an eyebrow. “Hardly that, if you possessed the wit to locate me. I mean, you must be a knight. Don’t bother to deny it. There can be no other reasonable explanation.”

He regarded her for a long moment. “Yes. I am a knight.”

“But why the disguise?” She recoiled as an unpleasant thought returned. “Sir Robert didn’t send you to test my virtue, did he?”

“Mon Dieu, no! Never once did that cross his mind.”

She felt her brow wrinkle. “How can you be so certain?”

“I have known Sir Robert my entire life.” His smile turned enigmatic. “He would never resort to such a ploy.”

“But he would send you and Sir Ruaud ahead to look me over, is that it?” Her ire rose on the wings of indignation. “To determine whether I am a worthy match for his lordship?” His smile inverted to dread. “Hah. I am right.”

Denying him a chance to reply, she shot to her feet. Her instinct suggested escaping into the maze, but fear of becoming lost in the mist pushed her toward the tower’s door. The bolt’s heaviness prevented her from locking him out, so she concentrated on making best speed. Pounding footsteps warned her of Alain’s pursuit.

He caught her wrist while she was still on the stairs, but she yanked it free and continued up. On the landing outside the upper chamber, she had to pause for air. He joined her before she could escape.

“Please, my lady,” he said between breaths. “Let me explain.”

“What’s to explain? Sir Robert sent you to scout me out, and you agreed. You Normans are a despicable lot. Every last, stinking one of you! I thought I had met one who wasn’t.” She blinked hard to fight off the welling tears. “I was wrong.”

RELEASE BLITZ: Boomerang by E.M. Denning

BOOMERANGbyE.M. Denning
Eli Cooper and Violet Holt haven’t gotten along well in the year their parents have been married, so it’s better that they don’t see each other often. After an averted disaster, sparks fly and now Violet can’t get Eli off her mind. Violet only has to avoid him for thirty more days, then she’ll be safely back at college and can focus her energy on her studies, but Eli isn’t so easily ignored.

Eventually, passion flares and they both give into temptation. Only one question remains when it’s over– What do you do when the one person you can’t get over is the one person you’re not supposed to be with?

“Eli!” I screamed up the stairs as I led his dog toward the back door by the collar. “Keep your stupid mutt out of my room.”

Eli sauntered in through the kitchen, shirtless, as always. I didn’t think he knew how to wear a shirt anymore. He grinned. “What did Boomer do this time?” He loved the fact that I hated his dog.

I held up a pair of shredded panties. “Your dumb dog was eating my underwear, again.”

He shrugged. “So he likes to eat things that smell.”

I punched him in the arm. “My underwear does not smell.”

“Tell that to Boomer.” Eli grinned and walked outside to join his stupid dog.

I stormed upstairs and then gathered the shredded underwear off my floor. I tossed them into the garbage. I was half-tempted to steal his credit card and go shopping at Victoria’s Secret for a bunch of lingerie, but there would be no point in spending all that money to show them off to no one. I went to my window and looked out at the backyard. Eli lounged in a chair by the pool. He lifted a hand and wiggled his fingers at me. I flipped him the bird.

Eli smiled, then put his hands behind his head. He thought he was some kind of hotshot just because most girls fell all over themselves to be near him. I closed my blinds, grabbed my iPod and flopped down with my sketch pad. I’d been on a series of re-imagined Disney Princesses for weeks. I drew them as science fiction heroines outfitted with laser blasters and badass space suits.

If I had things my way, I’d draw for the rest of my life, but Dad had other plans. He said the term “starving artist” existed for a reason, and no child of his was going to spend even a minute on unemployment.

He had me stuck in business school for a stupid degree that I had little intention to use. When he wasn’t looking, I was drawing, illustrating, building my portfolio. Anything in the art world was better than the best job in the business world. My classes made my brain bleed. Luckily for me, it was summer vacation, my dad was in France with my stepmother, and the only annoyance I had to suffer was Eli.

Over my earbuds, I heard something thump. I killed my music and listened. Someone hammered on my door.

“Go away, Eli.”

“Open the door, Violet.”

His voice sounded weird. He was probably going to make me regret it, but I opened the door. He had Boomer in his arms.

“What did you do to my dog?” His face was red with anger, pinched with worry, as if he didn’t know whether to punch me or cry his eyes out.

“What are you talking about? I didn’t touch your stupid dog.”

“He threw up a whole bunch outside. Now he won’t even walk around. What did you do to him?” Eli screamed.

I tried not to get mad, I tried to remain sympathetic because he was clearly worried about Boomer, but he was always a dick to me.

“I didn’t do anything to your dog.”

As if on cue, Boomer vomited all over my carpet.

“Eli. Fuck, that’s so gross.” I took a step back. “I’m not cleaning that.”

Eli looked at me. “What’s wrong with him?”

Crap. So much for not giving a shit about Eli and his stupid dog.

I sighed. Boomer really didn’t look well. “Go downstairs and get into my Jeep. I’ll clean this up and be right there. We have to take him to the vet.”

For once, Eli didn’t argue with me. He cradled Boomer against him, which was no easy feat. Boomer was a full-grown German shepherd, but Eli carried him as if he were weightless. “Don’t be long,” he said before he left the room.

“You froze my boxers?”

I shrugged. “That’s what you get for ratting me out,” I said, thumbing toward Leo, who had the wherewithal to nip my digit, and then smooth a kiss over my skin. My toes curled, damn him. “Next time, keep your trap shut. Just sayin’!” I moved a little away from my man-crush before I forgot decorum and jumped him in the kitchen. Manners were key.

“Cruel, woman,” Hernandez said, shaking his head. “Seriously, couldn’t you come with something else?”

He took the bowl of frozen heroes from the freezer, setting it on the counter. Iced Batman and frozen Captain America shorts clunked with a thud. I hope Cap didn’t mind the refreeze?

When Hannah’s house is burgled, she gains as much as she loses: she meets Jan, her reserved Dutch neighbour and successful antiques dealer, and Callum, the detective in charge of the case, then finds some hidden letters to her dead grandmother that take her on an emotional journey of discovery.

As Hannah juggles the attentions of the two men now firmly in her life, she works to uncover the secrets of the past, only to find these encroach on the present in unexpected ways.

And then there are the two men in her life, both vying for her attention, both hiding things from her and each other. What does Callum really know about Jan? What is Jan hiding from everyone? And what did her grandmother—whose house it once was—hide from the world?

As if Hannah doesn’t have enough mysteries to solve, her best friend Rachel enlists her help in solving her marital crisis, while her pleasure-seeking mother seems intent on finding her a husband.

With so many skeletons rattling the door of Hannah’s house, can she unravel these mysterious threads and reveal the truth, changing her life forever?

The shock when I arrived home to find my front door kicked in left me reeling, too stunned to move. Before I found the courage to enter the house, Jan appeared at my side, his face a picture of concern and sympathy.

"I've been watching for you. I spotted the damage from my balcony when I came home from work and called the police. They only left ten minutes ago. Let’s go inside and see what has happened."

I began to shake violently. I've never been burgled before, but seen the effect on so many people in the course of my work. It leaves you feeling violated and scared. I doubted I could even cross my own threshold unaided. What would I find inside—or not find? I was still too shocked for tears, just cold, dumb incomprehension. Me… burgled! This is such a safe house, tucked away behind the big apartment block, minding its own little business, not encouraging anyone to trespass and break in. It’s not visible from the road and even sat navs can’t find it—I suffered endless difficulties with deliveries and have fallen out with several courier firms. I’ve stopped ordering from most online stores, because nothing ever arrives without endless emails or phone calls.

Who would rob me anyway, and why? Had I been targeted or did someone just happen upon the house? The questions rampaged my stunned brain as I peered into the house, reluctant to enter.

When Grayson stumbles across Parker, he has no idea what to make of the gorgeous blonde who blew him off despite the heat sizzling between them. But that doesn't stop him from feeling protective of the woman who's consumed his thoughts for months, and when he learns of Parker's plans to confront an angry old man, he refuses to leave her side. As Parker's past unfolds, they're led on an unexpected journey of discovery. Their connection deepens, and late-night fantasies become passionate realities, until good intentions spark painful secrets, threatening the love they've found.

"Trust me?” Grayson asked.

“Trust a guy who hauled me over his shoulder and kidnapped me?” She looked toward the bar.

“Yeah, trust that guy.”

“I do trust you.” She poked him in his chest. “But if I end up on the front of some rag magazine, I’m hiding out in your basement. With Christmas, chocolate, and a boatload of horror movies that you have to watch with me.”

“Sweetheart, if you move into my house, you won’t be watching movies or hiding out in the basement. You’ll be lucky if you make it out of the bedroom. In fact”—he slid his hand to the nape of her neck, causing her eyes to glaze over with desire—“maybe I should take a few of those pictures and make that happen.” He’d taken a chance, saying something so brazen and holding her like this in the cab of his truck, but he couldn’t hold back.

RELEASE TOUR: Aaron's Honor: A Men of Mercy Novella by Lindsay Cross

AARON'S HONORa Men of Mercy novella

Special Forces Operation Alpha by Susan Stoker Kindle World spinoff
by

Lindsay CrossOfficial genre of book: Romantic Suspense

As a Special Forces operative, Aaron Spears treated relationships like Tangos. He’d seen the wreckage of his Task Force brothers' attempts and had no desire to put any woman through the hardship. He had one purpose – serve his country and protect his teammates. Then Celine Latimer walked into his life and turned his world upside down.

Celine Latimer thought she’d hit the jackpot when hunky SF operative Aaron Spears asked her to accompany him to the high-profile wedding of Senator Cotter’s daughter. They’d get to spend two weeks together while Aaron pulled guard duty for Caroline Cotter and Celine intended to use every spare minute, seducing the man she’d had a crush on for over a year.

The time and place proved to be more of a barrier than either of them realized. With his commander watching his every move, Aaron couldn’t afford to show any weakness. That meant ignoring Celine.

Rejected and hurt, Celine packed to leave only to be caught in a kidnapping plot against the Senator. Here she sat, in a hut in the Middle East, waiting on a rescue that may never come.

He'd sworn to protect and he'd failed. Now Aaron lived for one purpose- to rescue the woman he lost before she’s sold into slavery and spend the rest of his life making her see how much he loves her.

CHAPTER ONE

Camp Eagle Claw, classified location Afghanistan…

The Afghanistan desert would have made the devil himself sweat, not that the devil was brave enough to set up headquarters in this godforsaken land. Only the United States Special Forces would be smart enough to pick the meanest valley in the middle east as its home away from home.

Even the insects were AWOL. The only creatures crawling across the sand were the death dealers – scorpions, snakes and Special Forces.

Operative Aaron Spears, assistant medical sergeant and weapons expert, bent over and gripped the metal bar in front of him, working on his fourth set of dead lifts in the spotted shade provided by the camo net over Task Force Scorpions, TF-S, camp.

Up, down. Three hundred ninety-five pounds, nearly twice his bodyweight, an extreme amount guaranteed to give him arthritis by retirement – but he wasn't worried about that since most men in the Teams didn't live to see their fiftieth birthday. Sweat ran in rivulets down his shirtless chest, dropped to the scorched earth with a sizzle and evaporated instantly.

Up. Down. One more round of lifts and he might fall out from weariness, which was exactly what he intended. He couldn't stop thinking about Celine Latimer with her perfect platinum hair and sinful sweet personality. He couldn’t forget the taste of her strawberry flavored lip gloss or the fact that it was his fault she’d been kidnapped.

Up. Down. Another lift. Aaron's exhausted muscles screamed in protest but he kept moving, ignoring the pain.

Why hadn't he taken her in his arms and devoured her whole instead of turning her away?

“Dammit, Spears, never seen you lift that heavy. You need to ease up, give yourself a break.” Ethan Slade, communications sergeant and best friend, strained under the weight of his bench press five feet away. Ethan racked his weight and sat up, yanking a towel from a nearby chair to mop up the moisture on his face.

“Celine’s not getting a break. Caroline’s not getting a break. We don’t know where they are or what’s being done to them.” Every night he went to bed with a small head shot of Celine gripped in his hand and during the day he kept it tucked in his shirt pocket. Her picture a haunting ghost to remind him daily of his fuck up.

“You gotta have some faith, man. We’ll find them. We’ve already narrowed their location down to this area of the desert.”

“You mean this hundred square mile radius of ISA loyalists? And what about Mr. J? He’s here too. He works for ISA. He wants nothing more than to make us pay.” The Islamic State of Afghanistan, the lead terrorist organization in the world, responsible for kidnapping Caroline Cotter from her wedding to a very high profile general. The whole thing had been orchestrated by Mr. J, Task Force Scorpions former CIA liaison turned traitor. Celine Latimer had been collateral damage.

“It should never have gone down like that. The whole time I was thinking it was a cake mission, how hard could it be to pull security at Caroline’s wedding anyway? I got soft, complacent. I should never have taken Senator Cotter’s word that he’d fully vetted his own staff.”

Up. Down, the barbell bowed under the heavyweights stacked onto the ends every time he lifted. He was going to make Celine's kidnapper bend like that, right before he snapped the bastards in half.

“You’re right, we knew better, but we both trusted the Senator. It was his fuck up, too, and his daughter that was kidnapped because of it,” Ethan said.

“Not just Caroline. Celine was kidnapped, too. Don’t forget her,” Aaron ground out, jaw clenched under the pressure of holding up the extreme weight and guilt.

“Don’t forget my girlfriend, Kate, was almost taken. Don’t talk like I don’t understand, man. We nearly lost all of them.”

“I’m not, I just- I was the reason for Celine being there in the first place,” Aaron said.

“Yeah, so what? You invited her because you already knew her, you’d vetted her and we needed someone we could trust. Someone who could be close to Caroline that we wouldn’t have to worry about. You were just doing your job.”

Oh, he did his job alright, he fully vetted Celine Latimer, but not as a stylist for the bride.

He wanted her. He’d wanted her for nearly a year. He’d wanted her so bad he forgotten the cardinal rule – no relationships in the special forces. Not that he enjoyed one night stands or even the occasional short-term hook up, but he wasn’t about to put a girl through the shit of being in a relationship with a man that was never there, or one that may never come home from a mission. He’d seen the toll it took on his buddie’s wives – no way he would do that to a female. If he couldn’t fully commit to a relationship, he wouldn’t do it at all. “If you say so, man.”

He wasn’t in the mood to talk about it anymore. Aaron dropped the heavy-metal bar with a satisfying loud clank onto the concrete at his feet.

Ethan wiped the sweat from his face and dropped the soaked hand towel on a nearby metal chair. Their workout facility had the necessities. Water enough so they wouldn’t pass out from dehydration. Weights heavy enough guaranteed to work off the steam. All the outdoor circulation the desert could provide.

Hell on earth.

Aaron and the rest of his team had been here for two weeks, searching and pulling recon non-stop. They'd tapped all their contacts in the area, searched satellite photographs and even done some door-to-door searches only to come up with nothing. Not even a blip. It was as if the two girls had vanished.

What got you interested in writing novels?I wrote when I was much younger. Majored in English the same way a lot of authors throw some literary seeds into the ground to grow. It wasn’t until 2010 when a friend brought a gal she knew over to my place one afternoon that life changed for me. This woman was an artist. Her journey started out in Poland. She’d been sold by her family into prostitution, but eventually, she escaped with a young man and found her way to North America and my backyard. She pointedly asked why I wasn’t writing anymore. I didn’t have a good answer and the next day I released the hounds!!!

What sparked the idea for A Warrior’s Challenge Series?Commander Thane Austen, the hero and leader of alpha squad, came thundering into my head one day at work. I’m an officer with the Coast Guard and spent my adult life with some very interesting people. Kayla, the heroine of the story, is based on a woman I worked with. She was a survivor of spousal abuse and suffered with PTSD. It had been a long haul for her. I watched her fall and get back on her knees as she struggled to find trust in the world again. I wondered what kind of man could heal the harm that had been done and Thane grew in my imagination. A warrior who wouldn’t give up on her. Walk through her smoke and mirrors. She’d drive him near insane. He’d have to be splintered from serving his country. Apart, they were haunted by their pasts, but together they’d be whole. The rest of the series came as the secondary characters introduced themselves and more stories were born.

Do you have a specific writing style? If you mean chaotic, well then, yes!But seriously, I outline as well as write by the seat of my pants. At times, when I’m working on one project, another keeps banging at my door. Sometimes, I have to give in and open the door, write it out of my system and then go back to my current project. I outline the basics: who, age, plot, challenges, what will catapult the characters through the first door in the story where they have to investigate further and then the final doorway, where there’s no turning back. The rest is up to the characters. When they stand there like stickmen in my head, that’s when I drink a lot of coffee.

Which usually comes first for you, the character(s) story or the idea for the novel?Usually it’s a combination. What I mean to say is I get a specific scene in my head. It will repeat itself enough times that I extrapolate the scene, try to push it forward and see if an overall plot will divulge itself. If so, away we go! For Twila’s Tempest, my newest release, I was in Florida visiting my brother-in-law. Sitting by the pool in his trailer park, I watched the seniors. Twila was born and Drake came soon after.

Is there any differences and/or similarities between Steven from “Too Grand For Words” and Cain from “His Perfect Imperfection?”No, Steven is more like Commander Thane Austen. In fact, they meet up in Code Name: Luminous. I like to cross pollinate. It’s fun for the readers to bump into a character they may have loved from a previous book.

Is it fun to write from two different viewpoints?Only a psychotic mind can do that. Lucky that’s me. When my husband read over a couple scenes, he was astounded at how different I could make two characters while having a conversation. Think it worried him a little. LOL. I tapped my head and said, “There’s a lot of nonsense going on up here.” Smartass that he is, said, “Don’t I know it.” (Yes, we’re still married)

Out of all of the secondary characters within A Warrior’s Challenge Series, do you have one or two favorites so far? If so, who are they and can you tell us why?I can’t help but be a little proud of this series. It’s been a bestseller and it’s won two R.O.N.E awards. As for secondary characters, I’d have to say Lieutenant Cobbs (Thane’s swim buddy and best friend) and Mace (the sniper on the team) They both have their own books. Captain Cobbs is the combination of a lot of men I’ve met in the Coast Guard. The strong silent type with unwavering loyalty to his working family and his own family. Mace is the sweet guy. Everyone’s best friend. Handsome. A tease. A manwhore until he falls hard for Nina and her daughter Gabbs. My favorite book in the series is the last one which will be published this year called Code Name: War of Stones. It takes place twenty years in the future and the heroine is somebody very, very special.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write in a novel and why? There’s been so many, but I think the end of Code Name: Luminous was the toughest to write but also the most important. I don’t want to give it away, but they say as a writer if you don’t feel the scene than neither will your readers. I went through so many tissues, I had to go to Costco to restock.

What is the weirdest/craziest thing one of your characters said or did? Please let us know who and from which novel.Drawing a blank on this one. I got nothin’. LOL.

If you could write “Twila’s Tempest” all over again, would you change anything about it?(Laughing) Haven’t seen the one star reviews yet. You usually have your head stuck so far up the story’s butt you can’t see the forest from the trees until reviews start rolling in. I read them all. Good and bad. Aside from personal preference, for example readers who only love a strong female lead so therefore wouldn’t like a particular character, I look for plot holes. Reviewers catch things like that. I’ll evaluate and learn.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite and why?Ten books published. A couple books written that will never see the light of day and a couple shorts for anthologies. My favorite is coming out this year. It’s the last book in the Warrior’s Challenge series. I love the plot and the characters. It will be called Code Name: War of Stones. Why do I like it? It fell together so nicely, I couldn’t help but love the little devil. It’s a great wrap to a good series.

Do you have any projects in the works? If so, can you share a little of your current work with us?Most definitely. After Twila’s Tempest is released on June 19th, I have a book called “Committed to Chase” in the Field Stripped anthology releasing at the end of June. Readers will get all warm and squishy over Jesse. In August, I’m joining Desiree Holt’s Omega Team in Kindle World and “SEALed with a Weekend” will come out. The final three books in the Warrior’s Challenge series will be out this year. “Code Name: Forever & Ever”, “Code Name: Redemption”, “Code Name: War of Stones”. Then in the fall I’m changing gears. I’ve hung onto a series for the last five years, waiting for the right time to release it. It’s an action-packed ride on the edge of your seat paranormal series. If you think Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code meets the most intense romantic suspense you’ve ever read, that’s what the Elemental Prophecy series will be like. Six books in total, the final being an international apocalyptic race to the finish.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?Similar to what will probably be on my gravestone. “She came. She wrote…To be continued!”
