In the Sky With Diamonds

I know I’ve been posting only about cats lately on social media. There hasn’t been much writing going on here. Still in mourning. But…BUT…

I have started the process to adopt a kitten! She’s a tabby who looks a lot like Chester, but the eyes are totally different (Chester’s were green; Kitten’s are yellow.) And you know what? I think God and Chester give her their seal of approval, because on the way home from meeting her, I looked up into the sky and it was all cloud-cover, except for two li...

Status: Mourning

Sorry I’ve been quiet here. Over the span of one week, I’ve had two cats die. The house is so quiet now, not an animal within petting distance. I’ve never been without a cat.

Chester and Edwina were both wonderful cats.

Chester was my graduation present back in ’03. He helped me through the roughest ten years of my life (18 -28) and continued to be a wonderful companion and friend until the very end.

Here’s my tribute to him:

There’s a star cat waiting in the sky
He’s really kind of cuddly
An...

Nothing to Say

I don’t really have much to say this week, other than typing with a bandage on your left index finger is a real pain in the neck. Grr.

Oh, and…

In a Pickle is on sale for 99 cents for the rest of the year!

So, yeah, if you’re gifted an Amazon gift card for Christmas and don’t know what to spend the remaining dollar on, there you go

2016 – A Year in Review

Just kidding. I wouldn’t do that to you. This year has been so awful, I’d be laughing if I weren’t crying. But let me list some positive things that have happened so far. This might be a very short list…

My nephew was born healthy and without complications I read thirty-six books, the most I’ve ever read in one year I’ve written close to 100,000 words–a lot for me!

And there are other things, I’m sure, things that I sometimes take for granted.

I think this has been a rough year for all of u...

Don’t know what to get the writer in your life for Christmas? I’ve got some ideas!

-Book-themed Writing Gloves from Storiarts or Amazon.Keep your hands warm while you type, leaving your fingers free so they don’t slip and slide over the keys. They have Peter Pan, Pride and Prejudice, Alice in Wonderland, The Raven pairs, and more!

Julia Child and Me

If you haven’t seen Julie and Julia, it’s a great movie, well worth the time–and $–to rent and watch. Or buy. I suggest buy, because, as stated, this movie is fabulous. I mean, come on: food, Julia Child, cooking, writing, FOOD–you’ll gain weight watching this movie…what’s not to love? (Well, besides the weight-gaining part, but we’ll type off all the extra calories, amiright?)

For those who are not in the know, Julie and Julia is based on two true stories–one based off written correspondence...

By the Spread of the Table

I attended a creative writing workshop this past Wednesday, and this poem came over me after staring at a rather morbid picture prompt:

By the spread of the table

And the thorn on my chair

The clawing of conscience

I do not dare

Partake of this grisly feast,

This ghoulish delight;

To say that I’m willing

‘Twould fill me with fright.

Man is not useless;

Man is not wrong;

The part of my soul

That objects is long gone.

The thoughts that knock once.

The fear that rings twice.

I break way the tie...
