New Scene in Brie Learns the Art of Submission by Red Phoenix is Revealed!

It includes a new scene, one that I promised my fans I would post on my blog. Why? Because I have a tons of people who have already purchased the series and I want to share it with them. :)

I added this scene because it was needed. When I wrote Brie on Display, Brie #7, there was one chapter that people begged me to expand. While revising the series into novel form, I realized that I agreed with them.

For your reading pleasure, I am posting the new scene BEFORE the release of the novel.

Brie has just scened with a training Dom - a man she has encountered before in the 'vanilla" world. She is supposed to evaluate his performance with her trainers (as well as his). Being a submissive to Blue Eyes has thrown her off a bit, but Faelan planned out his scene well and tailored it just for Brie. How will she rate the young wolf pup?

After the three Doms had left the room, Sir began the discussion with the Dominant trainers still in attendance. “We would all like to hear your honest opinions of your Doms’ performances.” He turned to Lea first. “Ms. Taylor, how would you rate Master Allen’s scene with you?”Out of the corner of her eye, Brie saw Lea look up and smile. “Master Allen really seemed to care, Sir. He continually asked my color, eased up when I indicated that I was reaching yellow but did not stop. He pushed me like a good Dom should. I enjoyed the session with him.”“On a scale of one to ten, what would you rate him?” Master Coen asked.She said without hesitation, “I would give him a six.”A well-built, bald trainer from the other table spoke up. “What would you say is his major weakness, Ms. Taylor?”She shifted in her spot, making Brie wonder if it was difficult for her to answer. “I didn’t feel like he was reading me as we went. He was so dependent on asking my color that he didn’t notice what should have been obvious.”The female trainer at the table replied, “I concur with the submissive. Master Allen was oblivious to her discomfort until he asked.” “Thank you for your observations, Ms. Taylor,” Sir said. “You may kneel.”Lea immediately settled on the floor in a graceful motion.Sir addressed Mary next. “Give us your assessment of Mr. Hall’s performance, Miss Wilson.”Mary answered smugly, “He still has a lot to learn, Sir. The cautious way he used the crop was a complete turn-off. He might as well have hit me with a wet noodle.”The silence in the room was deafening.Sir replied with ice in his voice, “Miss Wilson, a respectful evaluation is expected of a submissive. Demeaning your Dom’s performance is neither welcomed nor appropriate.”Brie felt a chill course through her, even though she was not the one being corrected.Mary answered meekly, “Sorry, Sir.”“Reword your statement,” Marquis Gray instructed, his face expressionless.Mary took a deep breath before starting again. “Lord Hall was not confident with his use of the crop.”The bald trainer at the other table interjected, “I believe some of the fault lies with you, Miss Wilson. I noticed you were emotionally unreadable, which made you difficult to work with. It surprises me, considering the extensive training you’ve received at this school.”Brie shuddered at the trainer’s assessment of Mary. She had never thought that by evaluating the training Doms, they might end up inviting negative comments from the Dominant trainers themselves. However, she realized she had been foolish to think otherwise. As submissives, they were always under scrutiny—always.Ms. Clark challenged Mary by asking, “You started with his weakness, but I would like to know his strengths.”Mary took quite a while to answer. “He was…good-looking and pounded me decently.” All eight trainers stared at her without comment. Mary was failing with her evaluation, so Sir mercifully cut it short. “What would you rate him?”“A three, maybe four.”“Since I find your evaluation a waste of our time,” Sir stated, “kneel down and rethink your answers. We will speak after class.”Mary sank to the floor slowly.“Miss Bennett,” Sir began, his voice tainted with irritation. Although she knew it wasn’t directed at her, Brie still felt a quelling of her spirit. “How would you evaluate your Dom’s performance?”“Sir, I would rate Faelan a seven.” The brawny trainer from the other team jumped on her statement. “Why so high? Explain yourself.”“I know it may seem odd, considering we did not have intercourse, but it was that very fact that set him apart.” Brie braved a look at the Dominant trainer. “I’m not sure how well I would have handled a more intimate encounter because I’m acquainted with Faelan outside of class. The fact he chose to tease rather than conquer me was shrewd. It left me craving another session with him.”Ms. Clark asked, “Had he demanded intercourse, would you have complied?”“Of course,” Brie answered, remembering to keep her eyes lowered when she answered the Dominatrix. “However, it would have been out of obedience, not personal desire.”Brie heard the woman trainer at the other table remark, “I did find his choice of scene odd, but it makes sense now.”“Miss Bennett.” Brie looked up, and a distinguished white-haired gentleman nodded to her. “What do you see as a weakness of Mr. Wallace?”She answered with apprehension, “Although Faelan read me well throughout the scene, he did come across a little overconfident.”Brie saw the female trainer smile. The fourth man, a striking Native American, replied, “A valid point.” Brie had presumed the bald man was the leader of the panel, but the authoritative way this Dom spoke said differently. He glanced over to Sir. “I think we have what we need from your submissives.” Sir ordered Brie to kneel. She followed his command as all of the Dominant trainers got up from their table and left the room. Sir followed them out and spoke to the head trainer in the hallway for several minutes. It allowed Brie time to reflect on the scene with Faelan. It shocked her that through that short encounter, Blue Eyes had accomplished the one thing she did not want. The light caress of his feather still lingered on her skin, causing goose bumps of desire for the boy.

My wife and I are both fans. We've been overwhelmed by your skilled writing in the Brie series and have bought every new installment.

However, for all your superb takes on mind, matter and sensitive sexuality it is a constant distraction to find so many typos slipping through.
I was wondering if you would allow me the privilege of proofreading your material to weed out such distractions. Your novels are over and beyond anything I have found for Kindle on Amazon and it would be a breeze to correct the odd - but disturbing - error.

I laughed out loud when I read this. Leave it to a Danish professor to tell me like it is, but also bring humor to the mix. (Humor is the best way to reach this little Phoenix, BTW.)

After that email, I added him to my editing team and yes, my proofreader does not speak English as his first language. How do you like them apples? ;)  Tameika is still my talented and equally humorous content editor, but now I have an extra pair of eyes to catch those wicked grammar errors. He is an associate professor of English at a Danish university and teaches grammar for a living. Interestingly, he lived in my home state for a year pursuing a BA at a college near me. It's a small, small world.

My proofreader "Gentle Man" has saved you from reading about a 'wonton' woman. :)  His reason for helping: "My wish to proofread only and not interfere with the craft of Tameika and yourself. My aim is to help you stay in the emotions, focus on the personae and think up the story ..."

Recently, he made me laugh again after proofing Blissfully Taken . "For the first ten or more pages I felt sure that Tameika had already been over this. Further on I started to find some meaning in my life: I found a few typos.."  I just love his humor.

Gentle Man has remained true to his word. I can trust that he will save me from humiliation and spare you, my cherished readers, from distracting errors. He also provides a male's perspective. Very appreciated, as my husband is not an avid reader. Most of my male perspective comes from having observed hubby closely the last 20 years, so it is nice to have additional feedback.

As you can see, it takes quite a team to get these books out. From Tameika and Gentle Man, to my many dedicated beta readers, all play a role in improving my work. I am truly grateful.

What's Ahead for Red Phoenix?

Red Phoenix, 2012So, you finished Brie and are checking out the countdown clock wondering what on earth Red Phoenix could be doing for three months. Well...let me tell ya!

1) I am currently finishing the professional edits of the complete Brie collection. The full-length novel previously published as 9 novelettes will be hot off the presses sometime in the next two weeks - definitely before Thanksgiving, 2012. I not only hired a highly experienced editor, but I have also commissioned a custom photo shoot. I think you'll agree when you see the cover that it totally captures the allure of the Brie series. The title of the over 400 page soon-to-be released novel is Brie Learns the Art of Submission.
 
2) While doing the edits, I am also finishing up the second novella to my Phoenix series, Phoenix Takes Flight. This is written under my pen name Michelle Stevens because it is a romance novel - NOT erotica. If you like my writing style and you want to read a fictionalized account of my 80's romance with my incredible husband of 20 years, then you might want to give it a read, Phoenix Rising . The first novella is free on all the major eBook stores (except Amazon, which I expect to match soon).
 3) At the same time, I am also working on a secret writing project - one assigned to me by my hubby. He is pleased with the results to date, and I hope you will be too. :) I will reveal when it is complete.

4) But that is not all folks! I will be finishing up the year writing the second book to the Varick series. Varick: The Reluctant introduced my vamp; it is a vampire story like no other. If you have read any of my books, then you know I march to the beat of a different drummer and so do my stories. My vamps are cruel not wimpy, but the love that emerges from one unusual couple will change the vampire world forever. Hence the sequel, Varick: The Reckoning.


I promise this little chick is working hard. I am thrilled to bring Brie's Submissive Training to you as a novel in both eBook and paperback! (Now all the non eReaders can finally have their first taste of Brie.) Know that the story has NOT changed; it will just read a lot smoother. If you have purchased the series, you do not need to purchase the collection. The one scene that has been added in the novel will be posted on this blog so you won't be missing out. :)

If you are not part of my FaceBook, Twitter, or Website community, you are missing out, my friend. An incredible group of people have gathered together. Each day is filled with laughter, encouragement, and tears of joy.

On my own FB page, we joke around a lot. Someone mentioned how normal words and conversations take on a different meaning after reading Brie. One such discussion mentioned that subbing in public schools seems a little more naughty these days. In honor of that, a hot, sexy pic was created.

How to Get the Word Out About Your Favorite Books

A Simple & Anonymous Way to Help Promote Your Favorite Books   

If you want to let others know about a great book that isn't getting a lot of attention, one effective way is to click on the tags found on the Amazon website.  Anyone can do it - you do NOT have to own a Kindle. Where are these tags? When you look up a book on Amazon, scroll down. The tags are after "More About the Author", right under "What Other Items Do Customers Buy After Viewing This Item?"

They are titled appropriately: Tags Customers Associate with This Product

The big red arrow is pointing to the tags and the small blue arrow is pointing to where you can add additional tags. (You are allowed up to 15 tags per book.)

Tags should be associated with the book or storyline. In Brie Lives Her Fantasy some tags might be role playing, explicit erotica, BDSM, warrior fantasy, red phoenix, etc. It is important that the tags go with the story. BTW, if you see the "delete" tag, that is a not so nice way of saying the book sucked. Don't click on that unless you agree.

By clicking on and creating tags, you are helping others find that book when they search using those words. Be specific and accurate.


It is a simple and effective way to spread the word about your favorite books & Indies!

For whatever reason, Smashwords and B&N were unable to coordinate getting novels published in a timely manner. I have watched my fans suffer as they waited sometimes more than a month to see the next novellete.
