Why I Started Writing the Truth (Even When It Hurt)
I didn’t start writing to be famous. I started writing to breathe.
There were things I couldn’t say out loud — not in my home, not in my community, and definitely not on the timeline. So I put them in books. Pain became paragraphs. Rage became poetry. Healing? That came slow… but it showed up when I did.
Unboxed: That Black Muslim Girl wasn’t written to be pretty. It was written to be honest. For every girl who’s ever sat in silence, laughed through grief, or hid her brilliance to make others comfortable — this one’s for you.
And the wildest part? People felt it. They saw themselves. They cried. They DM’d me things they’ve never told anyone.
That’s why I write.
Not for applause. Not for aesthetics.
But because truth needs a home.
So welcome. To my books. My chaos. My clarity. My real.
📚 Let me know in the comments what stories you needed and never got. I just might write them next.Unboxed That Black Muslim Girl

📖 New Here. But Not New to This.
Unboxed That Black Muslim GirlHey Goodreads fam,
I’m Alexis Cullen — new to this platform, but not new to the pen.
I’m a self-published author, storyteller, and creative who’s made it my mission to write the kind of books that make you feel something. Whether it's laughter in the middle of pain, tears in a moment of clarity, or just that eerie pause when the truth hits too hard — I’m here for all of it.
I write across genres because life doesn’t fit in one.
From raw memoirs and healing journals to dark fantasy sagas, twisted romances, and emotional fiction, my books are born at the crossroads of truth, trauma, transformation — and a little bit of chaos.
A Few Things I’ve Written (and Survived):
🧠 Unboxed: That Black Muslim Girl – a memoir for the misunderstood, overlooked, and silenced. Funny, gut-wrenching, healing.
🩸 Blood Crescent Chronicles – a dark fantasy series about rebellion, prophecy, and ancient bloodlines.
🖤 Your Favorite Girl to Hate – part poetry, part therapy, part smoke. For every woman who’s ever been envied, underestimated, or quietly plotted on.
💔 Rewritten & Reloaded – co-authored with my partner, a brutally honest relationship book about betrayal, healing, and rebuilding love from the ashes.
I’m here to connect with readers, review powerful books, share upcoming releases, and build community with people who love books that go beyond surface level. If you like your stories messy, moving, and a little magical — we’ll get along just fine.
Let’s be real. Let’s be loud. Let’s unbox everything.
📚 Add me. Read with me. Talk to me.
