Women and Our Future

Note: This is the last post for 2016. The next post will be on January 4th. 2017 The first book of the Gaia’s Majesty Trilogy was published in late 2015 but I withdrew it because I wanted to do additional work. The second edition of book 1 will be published this winter. In advance I will comment more deeply about essential themes, the present and developing role of women and, among other things, specifics about the caste of characters.

In these troubled times, what is your view of what is unf...

The Mission of the Tethyans

Essential Mission

dreamstime_m_28648851

Are you looking for a mission or do you already have one?

Safeguarding the Future

In the coming Gaia’s Majesty Trilogy the Tethyans are the people (mostly women) who our Earth Mother Gaia has set aside and protected in the sea to safeguard the future of humankind and her glorious planet.

On our planet we are facing a wave of serious social and environmental hazards. But rather than designing a series in which people fight under the eyes of a detached super being I decided t...

Struggle/Stewardship

Defining the World

dreamstime_m_68791900

What is your dominant view of the future of the world?

Each of us has an identity and it may be complex and multifaceted. How we are composes just a portion of our world. The world as it is and how we view it, represents another set of forces to be dealt with. And it can come to be personal.

Competing Views

Our view of the world may dominate our thinking and our choices. Currently there are two largely competing views. Many themes about the world suggest an unimaginable de...

Possibility as Opportunity

What do you see in today’s picture? What might it represent?

What possibilities are you searching in your life?

Questioning the Fiction We Write

Throughout the writing process I find myself asking a question about what I write. I prefer to call it speculative fiction because of what the story means to me but, evidently, the term covers a lot of territory. I usually settle and call it fantasy but the term is unsatisfactory to me. I know clearly it is not science fiction and certainly not horr...

Writing – Its a Personal Process

dreamstime_m_57588692

What do you believe about writing fiction?

Differing Essentials

In creative pursuits there are some does and don’ts but one of the traps is to feel that there is only one way. In fact, we all have our own process. Our writing and the process of it is affected because each of our lives and stories are unique. That means it is useful to follow established practices which will serve us well but we must also give ourselves the space to be who we are.

And Then There Is Where We Are Led

I’m a cli...

We Are Stardust

dreamstime_m_25634120

What does being stardust mean to you?

We Rule – For Now

How arrogant we are! In our estimation we are the pinnacle of creation. And it seems we have an inalienable right to rule this planet. At least that is the case unless we bring it and ourselves to ruin.

Reasonable Assertion

Certain things are implicit and inevitable. Such as the human ego. We need it because if we do not look out for our own benefits and existence no one else can. As children we have to assert ourselves so that we survi...

Waves In Our Lives – Personal

dreamstime_m_53028548

What does a personal life wave mean to you?

A Defining Wave

In my childhood, when we were driving, my father talked to me about family history and specifically his history. I’m was not sure why. I came to think it may have been because he had learned not to share it with most people. Here’s why.

Who Came Before

Two of my great grandfathers fought in the Confederate army. As it turns out, what was passed down was that they “fought in” but did not fight for the confederacy. My father’s people...

The Four Functions in Carl Jung’s Personality Typology

dreamstimefree_291589

Where does personality lead you?

Paired Opposites

And now we continue the personality series. This will be a general discussion of what Jung called the functions. Later we will focus on each in more detail.

Jung posited two pairs of functions composed of opposites. They are thinking- feeling and intuition-sensation. He spoke of thinking-feeling as being judgmental and intuition-sensation as being perceptual. When you begin to explore these pairs the meaning of the designation becomes appare...

Interregnum

dreamstimefree_282291

Does this picture remind you of our world media? They have endless opinions. Maybe just as valid as yours.

The Pause That Does Not Refresh – Or Does It?

Aren’t opinions wonderful? Everyone has one and it fuels the twenty-four hour a day news channels. Oil will surely drop to $20 a barrel. The Euro will drop to .80 to the dollar. After the Vietnam War the domino effect was certain to tear Asia apart. And on and on.

So let me throw my speculation into the mix. But first let me bring up the mat...

Welcoming the LGBTQ Communities

The Beauty of Diversity

dreamstime_m_69442500

Unexpected

It is stunning to see the public arrival of the LGBTQ communities. It was not long ago that they were relegated to the shadows and treated to nothing other than discrimination.

It seems not so long ago that men’s rooms were surveilled and prosecutions were numerous. It was proclaimed that “these people” were mentally ill or inclined to criminal activities of all sorts.

I remember the two “maiden ladies” who lived down the street. “What a shame that they fai...
