Why one should never critique while drunk

This critique I received was actually by a good friend of mine. This is purely a joke. I hope you laugh as much as I did at some of her comments. I won't post her name, but if she wants to take credit for this awesomely funny crit, then she can post her name and take the glory.

Please Welcome Carrie Ann Ryan

Please Welcome Carrie Ann Ryan

Brenda Dyer stands outside of Carrie Ann Ryan's door and straightens her jean jacket and brushes off imaginary lint. She breathes into her hand and checks her breath. Good, still minty fresh. With Carrie's latest release--A Night Away--in hand and her tape recorder, she knocks.
The sound of footsteps and followed by a loud bang comes from behind the door. A muffled curse is heard next. Carrie pulls open the door while she rubs her knee. "Come on it."
Brenda: "Are you okay?"
Carrie: "Yeah. Just smacked my knee."
Brenda glances around the tidy room. A cat looks up from its perch on the back of the sofa. "Where should I sit?"
Carrie indicates a chair in front of a coffee table. "You sit here, I'll sit on the couch." She sits down and smiles. "Are you nervous?"
Brenda sits and takes off her jacket. "A little." She laughs and turns on the tape recorder. "Should we start?"
"Sure."
Brenda: Thank you so much Carrie Ann for agreeing to this interview.
Of course darling, Brenda!!! Thank you so much, doll, for having me!!
Brenda:  You have been one busy lady. Do you ever stop to rest? And if you do, what do you like to do for fun?
Me busy? LOL. Rest? What is that? I’m exhausted! I usually just read a book when I’m tired, but then that is just research, right? LOL
Brenda: LOL, you're right. Reading is sort of like reasearch. What is your favorite dinner food? Favorite desert? Do you ever eat breakfast dinners? IE: bacon, hash browns, pancakes, etc, etc.
Dinner Food: Anything Asian. Yum.Desert: Cheesecake.I worked at Denny’s 5 days a week for 14 hour days (overnight) to put myself through college. That would be a no on anything that smells like syrup. *shudders*
Brenda: I LOVE Denny's breakfasts, but I can see why you don't. I'd probably hate the smell of pancakes, topped with whipped cream, strawberries, with a side order of crispy bacon...Brenda glances at Carrie. Carrie's face has turned green and she holds a hand over her mouth. "Ahh, sorry. Next question. What hobbies do you have?
I used to knit, then I found out I have RA. So I’m down to reading LOL.
Brenda: Sorry to hear about your RA. What are two bad habits you have?
Eating and biting my nails.
Brenda: Whatever you do, don't swallow your nails. Also, if you knew how many germs were under them you wouldn't bite them anymore, LOL.
Do any of the male characters in your books have similar traits as your husband? And if so, what are they?
Their humor. My Hubby is a pretty funny guy LOL.
Brenda: Humor is a huge turn-on for me. A must in a guy.Okay, lets switch gears here and talk about your latest release. Can you tell us a bit about this story?
So A Night Away is what happens after the HEA. I’ve always wanted to revisit a couple – so I did. Mel and Kade are already mated and have a baby. But they need to figure out how to be a “randy” couple again!
Brenda: Wow, I like that since this sort of things happens in real life after a couple has a baby.Who was the easiest character to write? The hardest?
Mel and Kade ironically. They are amazing. The hardest? Well, Shade in my newest book, Dust of My Wings, is about to kill me. That is, if I don’t kill him first.
Brenda: Totally get that. Can you share with readers how you came up with the plot to this book?
I was talking to my BFF writing partner, Lia Davis, about how much Shade was killing me and I wanted to pluck off every one of his angel wings and drown him. Yes, I was having a bad day. And I said I wanted to just write a story about Mel and Kade because they actually love and talk to me. So I thought of where they were at now and found this plot. Plus the idea of Uncle Maddox as a babysitter made both Lia and I crack up!
Brenda: Is there any underlining messages in this story?
That being a parent is just has hard, if not harder, than fighting a werewolf world. And no, I’m not a parent. But I’ve heard the horror stories! And I did tons of research on the subject to make sure I had Mel and Kade’s reaction right.
Brenda: Again, I really like this because it is so true that raising a child is tough. And it is hard on some couples. What's next for you? Can you tell us a little about your current work in progress?
Well, I have more wolfies with the Redwood Pack. I have Dust of My Wings and some angels, plus the rest of Dante’s Circle with angels, brownies, demons, and werebears…PLUS a sekrit series, AND another series called Holiday, Montana where it’s about the myths of our childhood.
Brenda: Holy crap on a piece of toast. How the heck do you do all of this, plus work? Never mind. Don't bother answering. I already feel like a lazy slug.

Blurb:
Kade Jamenson has been mated to Melanie for almost two years. They’ve been through mating circles, battles, loss, misunderstandings, and finally, the birth of their son, Finn. The world is in turmoil around them as the Redwoods engage in war with the Centrals. But for Kade and Melanie, the turmoil is also happening at home. The responsibility of a restless baby and their Pack has taken a toll and they need a break. Not from each other. But from their Pack. Just for a night.Kade takes Mel away for a romantic getaway and leaves Uncle Maddox alone with baby Finn. The Omega of the Redwood Pack may be adept at emotions but the idea of a baby may be beyond his immense capabilities. Author’s Note: This is a novella set between books 3 and 4 to give you a taste of Mel and Kade. It is best that you have already immersed yourselves in the Redwood Pack world, however even new readers will enjoy a glimpse of one of the Redwood’s favorite couples.

Excerpt:
Kade Jamenson closed his eyes and prayed for resolution. A piercing shriek startled him, making him jump to his feet.Finn.Finn. His eleven-month-old son, who wouldn’t stop screaming, no matter what they did. The kid always needed something, either to be fed, changed, held, burped, played with, or just stared at. It seemed never ending. Even now that he was older, he still screamed or babbled constantly.Dear God. How the hell did humans do this? Kade had more endurance than any human, witch, and most werewolves out there. Yet a tiny fifteen-pound baby with big blue eyes took every ounce of strength he possessed. Not to mention sleep time.Kade groaned and rolled his neck before he walked into his son’s room. He and Melanie had painted the room in a soft green to match the Jameson eyes and added cream borders to break it up. Dark wood furniture filled the room along with cream linens covered with frog princes and bumblebees. Stuffed animals of every sort covered the tops of most pieces of furniture, gifts from his Pack and family, who cherished Finn like their own son. He took another step in and realized he hadn’t been the first one to answer his son’s call.

Lucifer

Warning: This short story is written in Lucifer'spoint of view. In this tale you are taken deeper into the history behind Love'sProphecy and how and why the war began.

Lucifer's MindForgotten Realm

Demons scattered as Lucifer stormed across the stone floor of his dungeon. He stopped and glowered at the thousands of human souls locked behind the enchanted metal bars of what he called the Holding Cage.   “Take them to the Pit,” he snarled to his servants.    “Yes, Lord Lucifer.” A demon bowed and hurriedvto do its master's bidding but stopped, frozen in place by invisible restraints.     “What did you call me?” Lucifer asked, fury swirling in his soft spoken question.    The demon trembled and stared at its feet.     “What did you call me?” Lucifer's voice boomed, bouncing off the stone walls of the chamber.      “Lor...Lord Lucifer, Master.”    “That name is no longer mine. I am Satan the Mighty. Satan the Great! Never do I want to hear the name Lucifer again!”    “Yes my, Lord Satan. My deepest apologies.”      Rage coursed through Lucifer's veins. He glared at his groveling servant, wanting to peel the skin slowly from the hideous being, but instead he reached out his hand, and in a blinding flash oflight, the demon's essence returned to him. Its empty body exploded, sending a shower of gray dust to settle on the stony floor.      Lucifer straightened his black robes and glared at the remaining demons in the chamber. “If I hear that name fall from anyone's lips, know your fate will be the same as this maggot's. Do I make myself clear?”     In unison the demons bowed and said, “yes, Master Satan.”    Without another word, Lucifer climbed the stairs to his private chamber located at the highest peak of his black castle. He slammed through the door and willed the many candles placed throughout the room to light, then gazed at the vast sea of blackness through a large archway cut from the stone.    He despised this Forgotten Realm. There was nothing but blackness. No stars, no planets, no sun. It was as its name suggested, forgotten.    He turned and watched the flickering flame from a candle as it ate darkness and spewed forth light and heat.     Lucifer craved light. When he was younger--back before humans were even a thought--he would bask for hours in the light and warmth from the Sacred Dimension's two suns. He'd lain upon the greenlawns and played his harp while his brothers and sisters sang and danced.     He played beautifully; one of the best in the whole dimension. He remembered the glowing praise from The Creator and the happiness he felt when asked to play before all.     Sadness crept into his heart. Sometimes hemissed those days and nights spent in peace and harmony. He missed the companyof his brothers and sisters. And if he was honest with himself, he missed thecompany of The Creator most of all.     Lucifer walked slowly to his black throne and slumped down. He picked up a candle and brought the flame close to his face. Unblinking, he stared into the fiery depth as memories flooded his mind.    Oh, how he had loved—worshiped—The Creator; recalled how he desired to be just like Him. How he craved the slightest attention from Him. How the touch of His glowing hands upon his face lit his soul, filling him with love and devotion.    The Creator loved all His angels, as he called them, but Lucifer knew deep down, he had held a special place in his Father's heart.    They spent much time alone, strolling upon the green lawns, discussing art, music, and many nights gazing out at the stars. He loved those quiet times together when he had his Sire's full attention. But that all changed when humans entered the equation.   Turning from that thought, his mind drifted further back. Back to the glorious day when The Creator had stood before all His angels, informing them of His plans to create a beautiful planet He would call Earth.     He had filled their minds with Histhoughts and ideas, and to each angel, He had bestowed the gift of creation. But the gift only allowed them to create what The Creator desired.      When the angels descended to the barren ball of rock, they began the arduous task of shaping and filling the Earth with many wondrous creations. Thousands of years they labored until they had finally brought the plan in their Sire’s thoughts to life.      As Lucifer strolled the earth, awe filled him at all they had accomplished. The beauty of it took his very breath. The trees, the mountains with their rivers rushing and tumbling down to meet theseas, the flower-filled meadows that soothed his soul and saturated it with contentment. He never wanted to be parted from the Earth. His love for whathe'd helped create was all consuming, and when it was time to return back to the Sacred Dimension, he'd decided not to go. Here he would stay and pass away eternity.     When all the angels returned to their home, Lucifer built himself a beautiful castle on top of the tallest mountain.      Many years he passed in blessed solitude. Then one day his brother, Genuine came upon him as he meandered through thegreat forests.    “My brother,” Genuine said, greeting Lucifer. “You linger here over long. It has been many years since we have completed our long labors.”     “Aye, my brother,” Lucifer replied smiling. “The Earth I love and here I shall remain.”     “Tis a wondrous kingdom for sure brother, but our Lord God has called us home and you are sorely missed.”     “Alas, my heart now belongs here.” Lucifer sat down on a rock and closed his eyes, listening to the music of the birds as they frolicked and sang in the trees towering above their heads.     “Aye, the Earth and all her beauty holds a special place in all our hearts, but to ignore the request of our Sire 'tis foolish.” Genuine sat beside Lucifer and laid his hand upon his knee.     “Foolish it may be,” Lucifer said. “But I will not forsake the Earth.”     “What would you have me tell our Sire?”     “That I desire to remain here and call earth my home.”     Genuine stood and dusted off his white robes. “Aye. I will convey your request. Till we meet again, my brother.” With a bow he vanished.     It wasn't long before The Creator took matters into His own hands and called Lucifer home. When Lucifer appeared in front of The Creator, his heart filled with anger for the first time. Anger to have been brought back against his will when he desired nothing else but the Earth.    “My son, why do you not come at will?” The Creator asked.     Lucifer bowed low. “Forgive me, my Lord. The Earth, in all her glory, I love beyond measure and my heart desires to remain.”    “This I know for I have read your heart’s desire, but the Earth was created for another purpose.” The Creator stood and tilted Lucifer's chin up. “This is your home, my son. The Earth will be home to my other children.”    “Other children?” Lucifer gazed at his brothers and sisters who stood against the stone walls. “Who be these others, my Lord?”    “All will be made clear.” The Creator walked over to the large arched window cut from the white stone, looking east toward Earth. “They are waking up as we speak.” He turned and looked each angel in the eye and sent them His thoughts and plans for these other children whom He called humans.      As his Father's thoughts entered Lucifer's mind, hatred and fear filled his once gentle heart with blackness.      No! Not his beautiful home. Humans will destroy all with their need for food and shelter. All his animals will be at risk, and his beautiful majestic trees will topple with their biting axes.     He couldn't allow this to happen. He had to put a stop to this madness. How could his loving Creator allow these...atrocities to come to pass?     “My Lord,” Lucifer said bowing low. “Please, tell me this isn't so. Lift my heart and tell me this be only a jest. All my—our years of toil will be for naught.”    “Lucifer,” The Creator said with a sigh.“This is why Earth came to creation. To be their home.”      Lucifer locked eyes with The Creator. “The Earth is mine, no others. I will not allow these usurpers to destroy what we all had a hand in creating.”     A collective gasp filled the chamber.    “You will not speak again of the Earth belonging to you!” The Creator's voice boomed. “Your place is here at my side.” He strode over to Lucifer and laid His glowing hand upon his shoulder.        “Let go the madness I sense in your heart, I beg of thee.” He looked deep into Lucifer's eyes. “From this point on you are forbidden to walk upon the Earth. This is my will and you shall obey.”     Lucifer bolted from the chamber, his heart shattering. And in silence, he vowed to take back what was his.    Many years passed, but instead of diminishing, Lucifer's hatred towards humans grew as he watched from afar the slow destruction of what he and his brothers and sisters so lovingly brought forth. But of all the treacheries he had to endure, the one he could never forgive was the humans' place in the Heavens and in his beloved Creator's heart. They had all: the earth, the Sacred Dimension and his Father's love.     One evening, when all in the Heavens slept, he crept down to the Earth and spied on the usurpers. As he stalked his old home, hatred and jealousy grew until it consumed every corner of his soul. Destruction was everywhere--from his precious trees to the animals he had cometo know and love—humans, by their very nature, were takers, destroyers.      Consumed with madness, he raised his arms to the heavens and pledged from this point on he would destroy all humans and steal them from The Creator as He had stolen the Earth from him.       From out of the seas he created giant storms that smashed into the lands, destroying towns and villages. And upon the Great Plains, he created violent wind tunnels that demolished all in theirpath. And with a mighty roar, he shook the lands so violently they split apart, forever changed.      Lucifer stood upon the peak of the highest mountain, watching with joy the destruction he caused. He despised the devastation and ruin to his beloved home, but to be rid of the humans made it all worthwhile.      When he returned to the Sacred Dimension all was in chaos. Human souls entered Heaven by the thousands, crying and afraid. Lucifer hid in his private chamber. Fear now replaced his joy.     Time passed slowly, each second feeling like a full circle of seasons on earth. When he couldn't take another moment of waiting, a knock sounded at his door. He pulled it open and without a word, stepped out into the hallway and followed silently behind his brother, Genuine.       As he stepped into the throne room, he was struck by the deadly silence. He glanced up and saw all his brothers and sisters. They were lined up, creating awalkway from the entrance to the throne where The Creator sat with an unreadable expression on His beautiful face.      Lucifer dropped to his knees at The Creator's feet and placed his forehead onto the cold stone floor. He despised this subservient position and longed to flee.      Silence pulsed through the room.     “Rise,” The Creator said.     Lucifer stood, but his head remained bowed.     “I would have your eyes on me so I can see the truth.”     Lucifer raised his eyes and stared into the ageless face of The Creator.    Time passed as The Creator captured Lucifer's gaze with his, reading all.      After what felt like time without end, The Creator closed his eyes and sat back against his throne. “Your treachery knows no bounds. It has wounded me beyond measure.”      Anger flooded Lucifer, loosening his tongue. “My treachery? What about your treachery?”     The Creator gripped the arm-rests of his throne and leaned forward. “You destroyed what is mine!”      Lucifer took a step forward. “You betrayed me!” He swept the room with a hand. “You betrayed us all! We knew nothing of your plans. We blindly did your bidding, toiling and slaving away forcenturies, never asking questions, and for what? For you to betray us with your second children? Not only do they now call the Earth home, but when they die they are welcomed with open arms to our home!”     The Creator remained silent.      Lucifer clenched his hands into tight fists and snarled through gritted teeth, “I will not bow to those usurpers, ever!”     The Creator's eyes dulled. “I see I am left no other choice in this matter, though it grieves me deeply.” He fell silent. A wave of pain crossed His face, dulling his inner glow.      Lucifer, seeing the weakness, snarled, “What shall you do, my Lord? Destroy me?”     “It would be just if I did, but alas, my heart is for creation, not destruction."     “Just perhaps, but to destroy me would also destroy part of yourself, and in so doing, weaken you.” He laughed, a sinister, dark sound, the likes of which has never been uttered in the Sacred Dimension thus far.       The Creator sat up and pegged Lucifer with a hard glare. “You are banished from this Sacred Dimension until such time I deem you repentant of your sins. You may go where you will, but not to the Earth. Remember, I see all.” The warning behind His spoken words was very clear.      Anger and hatred twisted Lucifer's once beautiful face into a hideous mask. “I will never grovel at your feet, begging for forgiveness. Never!” His ice-blue eyes searched through the line of angels until they stopped on his brother, Vampier. “You see all, you say. Tell me, my Lord Father. Do you see what Vampier has created behind closed doors?”     Vampier's face blanched. His dark, panic filled eyes glanced from Lucifer to The Creator and then back to the floor.       “I know what Vampier has created. But his creations were born out of love, not hatred and jealousy."      Lucifer glared at Vampier's bowed head, completely taken aback. “You know of his treachery and yet he remains unpunished?”     “He and his punishment are no longer your concern, Lucifer. You have chosen your path, and unless you wish to repent your actions, you will not involve yourself with any who reside here from this day forward.”       Lucifer addressed his brothers and sisters. “So be it. You are all weak-willed cowards. You are merely slaves—servants to carry out our Lord's bidding” He walked to the entrance and turning, he gazed at The Creator and hissed, “You stole from me my greatest love and for that alone I will never forgive. And know this, my... Father. For your treachery I declare war upon you and your precious humans.” With a swirl of his robes he disappeared from the Sacred Dimension.      A burning pain pulled Lucifer back to the present. He glanced at his hand. Hot wax from the candle he held had spread over his fingers and palm. He made a fist, extinguishing the flame and dropped the mess to the floor.      So many years had passed, but his Creator's betrayal was still fresh. It still had the power to hurt him. Cursing, Lucifer stood, but didn't move. His thoughts changed to his beloved Earth, figuring there was maybe 200 to300 years left before all was destroyed. No matter, once humans and vampires were obliterated he would repair the damage before moving in.      That's if the gods didn't interfere again like they had in the past. Though the gods were bound by their own silly laws. They couldn't meddle too much with what went on with the Earth and her children. And since humans were destroying the earth themselves, the gods' hands were tied.     Lucifer's lips stretched in a wide grin. Besides, look what had happened to the gods' plan of sending vampires to protect humans. He, the All Mighty, had fixed that by sending his demons to destroy vampires. And it was working. Vampires were slowly dwindling—they couldn't keep up with his demons.     What perfect revenge. Not only would he destroy The Creator's precious children, he'd destroy his brother's as well. Patience, that was all he needed.

Destruction was everywhere--from his precious trees to the animals he had come to know and love—humans by their very nature, were takers, destroyers.      Consumed with madness, he raised his arms to the heavens and pledged from this point on he would destroy all humans and steal them from The Creator as He had stolen the Earth from him.       From out of the seas he created giant storms that smashed into the lands, destroying towns and villages. And upon the Great Plains, he created violent wind tunnels that demolished all in their path. Time passed slowly. Each second felt like a full circle of seasons on earth. When he couldn't take another moment of waiting, a knock sounded at his door. He pulled it open and without a word, stepped out into the hallway and followed silently behind his brother, Genuine.       As he stepped into the throne room, he was struck by the deadly silence. He glanced up. All his siblings were lined up, creating a walkway from the entrance to the throne where The Creator sat with an unreadable expression on His beautiful face. We blindly did your bidding, toiling and slaving away for centuries, never asking questions, and for what? For you to betray us with your second children? Not only do they now call the Earth home, but when they die they are welcomed with open arms to our home!”     The Creator remained silent.      Lucifer clenched his hands into tight fists and snarled through gritted teeth, “I will not bow to those usurpers, ever!”     The Creator's eyes dulled. “I see I am left no other choice in this matter, though it grieves me deeply.” He fell silent. A wave of pain crossed His face, dulling his inner glow.      Lucifer, seeing the weakness, snarled, “What shall you do, my Lord? Destroy me?”     “It would be just if I did, but alas, my heart is for creation not destruction."     “Just perhaps, but to destroy me would also destroy part of yourself, and in so doing, weaken you.” He laughed a sinister, dark sound, the likes of which had never been uttered in the Sacred Dimension thus far.       The Creator pegged Lucifer with a hard glare. His dark, panic filled eyes glanced from Lucifer to The Creator, and then back to the floor.       “I know what Vampier has created. But his creations were born out of love, not hatred and jealousy."      Lucifer glared at Vampier's bowed head, completely taken aback. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Vampier had the gall to create children of his own, yet here he stands while Lucifer's heart was ripped a part. What madness was this? “You know of his treachery and yet he remains unpunished?”     “He and his punishment are no longer your concern, Lucifer. You have chosen your path and unless you wish to repent your actions, you will not involve yourself with any who reside here from this day forward.”      Lucifer addressed his brothers and sisters. “You are all weak-willed cowards. His thoughts changed to his beloved Earth, figuring there were  maybe 200 to 300 years left before all was destroyed. No matter, once humans and vampires were obliterated he would repair the damage before moving in.      That's if the gods didn't interfere again like they had in the past. Though the gods were bound by their own silly laws. They couldn't meddle too much with what went on with the Earth and her children. And since humans were destroying the earth themselves--helped along by his demons--the gods' hands were tied.     Lucifer's lips stretched in a wide grin. Besides, look what had happened to the gods plan of sending vampires to protect humans.

  Excerpt 1
I stripped my clothes off after climbing into the shower, taking a strange pleasure in watching the rivulets of blood slough off my body and swirl down the drain. This wasn’t a shower for pleasure or comfort though; I wanted to escape what had just happened. I turned up the heat again, hoping to burn the sick feeling of their skin and blood off me. I couldn’t seem to calm completely. I wanted, craved more of an outlet for the frustrations. Holding in my power all the time wore on me but what else could I do?Growling in frustration I punched the wall, not the smartest thing to do considering. The beautiful tile cracked where the wall dented in around my fist. Great, now I have to have the shower wall fixed. With a heavy sigh I slid down the back wall into a sitting position letting the water crash down over my head taking with it the proof of my out of control violence.Ma dame? Louis’s voice intruded cautiously on my solitude but considering the sound the punch had made I wasn’t surprised really.Don’t worry, Louie. The only danger in here with me, is me.Yes, Ma dame. Let me know when you’re finished. I have fresh clothes for you. He’d slipped back into servant mode, which was strangely comforting.Thank you, Louie. Soon. I spent a little longer working through my frustrations and hair. With hair so long and thick it took a while to get all the blood out.

   Excerpt 2
“Mine? You should check yours out sometime. As if being with Nic and me wasn’t enough to question it, now you’ve added Louie but in some type of servant-slash-lover position. I think you win the straight jacket award. But your taking of Louie actually isn’t what I wanted to question you about. Your battle lust is more my concern right now. You had a hard time calming down and being yourself again. You really didn’t seem better till after the shower, though smashing the tile seemed a little excessive to me.” I could see true concern in his eyes.“A ghrá, I don’t know how to explain what’s going on inside me. I hate fighting because I enjoy it too much. I like it. Not the death part but the power.” I was trailing my fingers down his arm, enjoying the feeling of his hard muscles. For someone so powerfully built and trained it was almost comical that he was in college for architecture.“Oh, I know you like the power,” he said gripping my wrists suddenly and pinning them down. “But you like the resistance too. You like to dominate, to conquer, but you like the fight as well. It’s something you haven’t quite figured out yet, I think.” He had a dangerous, hungry look in his eyes but wasn’t pushing beyond restraining my wrists.“Oh I do, do I? I think you just like me trying to dominate your strength some days.” Flipping so I was straddling his waist and pinning him, I stared into those eternally deep sapphire blue eyes of his. Goddess knows I still wanted some form of physical release for this energy!“Yes,” he panted as he struggled to break my hold on his wrists. I never use much of my strength with him, always too afraid to hurt him. For some reason I wasn’t being as careful this time. He would have to be more than just strong to win this one. “And I never said I didn’t like fighting back.” With that he bucked catching me off guard and allowing him the momentum to turn me over. He was smart though, he stretched out so his body held mine down as his legs and hands pinned me.His face was only inches away and as the heat crashed over me a swirl of images came to mind. Pleasing yet disorienting. Disturbing . . .

Mel Uncensored

Mel Uncensored

Brenda:  Hello, Mel. I'm glad you could make it. I know how busy you are.

Mel: Thanks for having me. I can't stay long. Have to meet Kal and Soren at The Green Tree then head out hunting. But I'd like to check on Breeana first.

Brenda: *smiles* I totally understand. I know we can't say much in case we give some of the book away, but how is Breeana doing?

Mel: *smiles back as he visibly relaxes* She's doing very well--thanks for asking.

Brenda: Glad to hear it. Tell her I said hi.

Mel: Will do.

Brenda: So, during the writing of Love's Prophecy, was there a time where you thought you and Breeana wouldn't end up together?

Mel: Yeah. I wasn't sure after the demon bitch got her filthy hands an Breeana if I'd ever see her again. I thought for sure my plan wouldn't work--thought we'd all kick it.

Brenda: *Laughs* Nice to know you had such little faith in me.

Mel: *Laughs back* Nah, not in you, in myself.

Brenda: I thought Breeana talked to you about your pessimistic crap?

Mel: She did--and because of her, I'm learning to have faith in myself.

Brenda: *Laughs* Good.  I'm going to change gears here if that's okay?

Mel: Sure. You're the interviewer.

Brenda: What happened after your father's death?

Mel: *He shifts in his seat and glances at the ceiling before looking at Brenda.* I buried my mother, then left--or more like I ran.  I wandered from city to city, town to town before I ended up in London. I was...not doing too well at that time. I was a drunk, living in the streets. I didn't have a purpose and I didn't give a shit. Then one evening I came across Roarik. *laughs.* Seems both he and I needed to feed and we were both going after the same human female. I was so sloshed I ended up scaring her away. I was also half starved for food--and broke--so I decided to rob Roarik. *laughs again.*

Brenda: *laughs* What'd he do?

Mel: Beat the shit outta me, then noticed my tattoo and realized I was a warrior--although back then I didn't look or act like one. Anyway, he offered me a job and a home--offered me a chance to get my shit together. *Shrugs* In a sense he saved me.

Brenda: No wonder you two are close.

Mel: *nods.*

Brenda: I'd like to ask you a question about your uncle.

Mel: *His shoulders stiffen and a frown creases his brow. He sits straighter in his seat before folding his arms across his chest.* What do ya want to know?

Brenda: Did he inherit your...father's estate after your...father's...*she swallows and glances away.* death?

Mel: To be honest, I don't know. I left and never looked back. But I'm sure my uncle looked after things until my brother was old enough to take over.

Brenda: Speaking of your brother, I take it you've never contacted him...

Mel: Frown deepens.* Nope--and I have no plans to. You know what happened between us--and I'm sure he hasn't changed.

Brenda: Sorry, but I wanted to ask. Next question. Does your uncle know where you are--what has become of you?

Mel: *Shrugs, but a look of sadness fills his silver eyes.* Doubt it. And I think it's best to keep it that way.

Brenda: Do you miss him?

Mel: Yes--can we please change the subject?

Brenda: Yes, and I'm sorry. But you and he were close--your uncle cared for you and you him, so...

Mel: Breeana feels I should try and contact him. *shrugs again* I'm seriously thinking about it, but...

Brenda: But what?

Mel: No matter how much he cared for me, I did kill his brother.

Brenda: I see. I still think Breeana is right--I think you owe it to yourself and your uncle to contact him. But I'll change the subject. In Love's Prophecy, Kal mentions to Breeana something about him getting you and Soren in trouble. What was he talking about?

Mel:  *shakes his head before laughing* Seems I'm never going to live that night down. I finally told Breeana what happened; she still brings it up. In short, Kal pulled one of his bonehead pranks and brought the wrath of Roarik down on Soren and I.

Brenda: *laughs* That's it? No details? Come on, Mel. Share with us. Inquiring minds want to know.

Mel: All right, but really you should ask Kal--he tells it a little differently--probably because he remembers more of it than I do. I was...a little inebriated. *chuckles.*

Brenda: I'll ask Kal when I interview him--and I'll compare notes.

Mel: To keep it short, Soren and I had returned to the base early this particular evening. We decided to relax, listen to some music and have a few beers. Well, a few turned into a lot. I guess by the time Kal returned, Soren and I were pretty shitfaced.

Anyway, Kal let off a couple of bottle rockets in the house--Soren and I didn't hear them because of the music, but Roarik did. Kal had placed a bottle rocket on the table beside Soren--without us knowing--shows you how drunk we were. *Laughs.* Roarik barges in and screams bloody murder about us letting off fireworks in the house. Of course Soren and I had no clue what he was flipping out about. The next day Kal tells us what he did.

Brenda: *laughs so hard she almost chokes* What...*laughs more* What did you two do to him? I can't imagine you guys let him get away with it.

Mel: *laughs* Nope. Suffice it to say, Kal was sporting a black eyes and a fat lip--plus we made him tell Roarik what he'd done. Soren also took Kal's favorite video game and hid it. *laughs again* Soren made Kal swear he'd never pull another prank on us before he gave it back.

Brenda: Did the promise stick?

Mel: Whadda you think?

Brenda: I'll take that as a no.

Mel and Brenda: *laugh*

Brenda: Mel, it's been a pleasure. I won't hold you up any longer. Say hi to Breeana and the other warriors for me.

Mel: *leans forward and shakes Brenda's hand* Will do, and thank you. The interview was my pleasure.

Brenda: I would like to interview Breeana in the coming weeks. I'll call and set up a time.

Mel: I'll let her know.

Several sentences from Love's Prophecy

Mel materialized in front of her. She jumped to her feet, her heart beating double time against her ribs. She pressed a hand to her chest. “Will you quit doing that? You're going to give me a heart attack. Can't you use the front door like a normal person?”

He laughed and drew her into his arms. “What would be the fun in that? I like keeping you on your toes.”

Breeana smiled and slid her hands under the flaps of his leather jacket. The leather creaked as his embrace tightened. She smoothed her palms up his hard muscular back and kissed the underside of his clean shaven jaw. The scent of his cologne and his warm skin heated her blood and her desire.

“You like keeping me on my toes, huh?” she asked.

He tilted her chin up until their gazes met. “Among other positions.” His voice was low, husky, and his irises darkened.

Several sentences from Prophecy's Child--book #2 in The Prophecy Series

This is taken from my current WIP, Prophecy's Child. In these sentences Katherine has ran into Kal--literally--after ten years. He still has the same erotic pull on her.

Katherine'smouth dropped open and butterflies took flight in her stomach.  Lucky she was flat on her ass because her limbs shook so hard she'd have ended up in the same position. "Kal? It can't be…"

She closed her eyes, then quickly opened them, needing to make sure his appearance wasn't simply a hallucination brought on by stress.

But there was no mistaking it, Kal stood in front of her, all six foot four inchesof well muscled, testosterone dripping, male. His black leather covered shoulders were so wide, they blocked out the florescent lights hanging from the ceiling. Faded jeans hugged his long, finely formed legs. He was perfection standing in a pair of black hiking boots.
