I did a thing
this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve come across in a long time.
I understand the daily hardships that so many people have in a world ruled by white males.
I understand that sometimes this can make it feel as if all white males are the enemy (especially for those who fight for equality).
but posts like this need to stop.
you are not advancing anybodies rights.
you are not promoting anybodies equality.
this is not activism.
this is hate-mongering.

Thanks for the contribution :)
I’ve lost track, am I even allowed an opinion these days? Whatever. How about this radical idea: Let’s treat each other equally, and then we’ll all be equal? All this mindless mud-slinging achieves nothing and only serves to demonstrate how true objectives of those involved (notably NOT equality).

Wow. This is…this is why we can’t have nice things, Tumblr.
Yes, there’s a high percentage of white dudebros who are going to act this way. There’s also a number of white males who are allies and equalists. I’m feminist and an equalist, which might not mean anything to some people, and might be fodder for mockery for others, its something I take very seriously. It’s one thing to create a meme like this — which is actually kinda funny — but then when the allies start chiming in trying to create a little headway, responding with the same meme just isn’t funny. It just makes it harder to try and make progress.
And I get it — I really do — but at the same time I don’t get it at all.
If you are genuinely fighting for equality than this shouldn’t bother you. I see no allies, just bitchy little boys demanding to be heard when it isn’t their story. It isn’t about equality. It is about liberation. Man up and shut up. Really and truly if a man believes in and fights for feminism and works hard everyday not to be a douche than this should not bother him. It is making a very legit and fair point. Also it is not your story. Every time a man steps in and bitches all he is doing is derailing. These come from personal stories and moment and struggles. What right do you have to try and speak over these women because your ego got a little bruised?
I genuinely feel for the personal and individual stories. I genuinely feel for the wider, sweeping scope of how women are treated in both the media and social situations. That’s why feminism. That’s why equality. Because then these situations can hopefully be lessened through teaching men — starting with young men — that women are actually people and ought to be treated so. I have to believe I can make a difference or otherwise I’m not creating a better world that my daughter is growing up in.
But then you say that “if a man believes in an fights for feminism and works hard everyday not to be a douche than this should not bother him.” I disagree with that. That everyday, average, bland looking white male face up there? It’s a sweeping generalization of male thought. It could be my face. It could be the face of the guy next to me. Both of us could be thinking the same thing on feminism. Both of us could be thinking radically different thought. That’s why it’s aggravating, because then it simply casts one group into one line of thinking. And yes, the rational line of thinking is that it’s simply just fair to do that. White men have been generalizing other races and genders for years, so it’s just plain fair. But on a personal, individual level, that bothers me because I want to present myself on an individual basis as an ally who helps others. And it’s this line of thinking and presentation that makes it even more difficult to do so.
I’m sorry if you, or any other woman, has had to deal with misogyny or assault or belittling or verbal/physical abuse at the hands of men. I’m not trying to speak over anyone, or say that anyone’s experiences aren’t valid. But yes, it aggravates me to see generalized stereotyping like this when I deeply believe in how each individual presents themselves and is perceived on an individual basis is key. Otherwise we will never make progress socially.

A Word About The Creator of Rocket Raccoon
So the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer was sweet. We all love Rocket Raccoon. He’s a raccoon that shoots a gun, after all! Who could say no to that?
But he didn’t spring, fully formed, from the ether, despite what people may think happens with artwork on Tumblr. He was…

Ke$ha is a perfect example...

Ke$ha is a perfect example of how the media loves to make intelligent girls seem dumb and bitchy even though they are actually smart and caring. Ke$ha isn’t far from being a feminist icon but the media continues to label her as a dumb drunk party girl.
and Ke$ha is all for loving yourself and equality but she continues to receive harassment from mainstream media. Enough harassment to the point that she developed an eating disorder because of it. She is an example of how horrible and sexist the music industry is.
Didn’t know any of this. More power, Ke$ha.
