Six Sentence Sunday – Science Fiction Princess of Shadows

six sentence sundayI’m changing pace, leaving Ancient Egypt (temporarily) for science fiction romance. Here are six more (well maybe seven) from my current WIP PRINCESS OF SHADOWS (title subject to change!).

Shalira’s father, the dying emperor, has just revealed to her some new facts about the marriage he’s arranged for her, with Bandarlok, chief of the tribes threatening the borders of his empire. Shalira is speaking:

“I don’t understand, are you telling me he’s already married?”

“Surely you didn’t think a powe...

Six Sentence Sunday – Science Fiction Continues

six sentence sundayI’m changing pace, leaving Ancient Egypt (temporarily) for science fiction romance. Here are six more from my current WIP PRINCESS OF SHADOWS (title subject to change!).

Princess Shalira is explaining the term “princess of shadows” to the hero, Major Mike Varone, Sectors Special Forces:

I have to get away from here, before the emperor dies,” she said with a bitter laugh, adding “Playing the princess of shadows won’t protect me after his death.”

“Princess of shadows?” Nothing about that in our br...

A Trip to the Dentist – Now & 4000 Years Ago

267345_1409I went to the dentist today, which is always stressful to some extent. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my dentist (in a chaste how-great-my-teeth-feel-after-a-visit-to-him manner). Everyone loves my dentist – I can’t tell you how many people in the local area go to this guy by choice. His support staff is extremely good. A regular Mayberry-type experience. I also haven’t had a cavity since the 9th grade, so what – you may ask – did I have to worry about?

Well it seems one’s gums don’t behave we...

Six Sentence Sunday – Science Fiction

six sentence sundayI’m changing pace this week, leaving Ancient Egypt (temporarily) for science fiction romance. Here are six from my current WIP PRINCESS OF SHADOWS (title subject to change!).

Here’s the blurb:

Blind since the age of ten due to an attempted assassination plot, Princess Shalira is resigned to an arranged marriage with a warrior chieftain… until she meets Sectors Special Forces Major Mike Varone, sent to the planet Majumdar to investigate a crashed spaceship, lost in the planet’s mountains. After...

Talking Movies: Safe vs Fire with Fire – Statham or Willis?

stormI’m a sucker for the Walmart $5 dvd bin and the Target $5 deals….I LOVE movies and I’m always coming home with flicks that seem intriguing or have good actors or promise science fiction action. (When will I learn that “syfy” action on the other hand, will probably be cheesy and star the inestimable Luke Perry, who will however valiantly Do His Best to elevate the material? Well, probably never – they’re kind of guilty pleasures.) I have a Netflix dvd subscription for this very purpose. The $8...

Six Sentence Sunday

six sentence sundayFor the last post of 2012, I’m going back to my first ever published story, PRIESTESS OF THE NILE, which came out from Carina Press in January of this year. This excerpt is near the end:

Eventually, Merys took a deep breath and stood, using the wall for support… Every Egyptian, even the children, knew at the end of this tunnel lay the Hall of Judging, where her heart would be weighed and her spirit’s ultimate fate decided. It is no less and no more terrifying than what I have already endured....

One (or Two) Last Things!

You know me and how much I enjoy answering the questions posed to celebrities in various magazines! (No, not the ones about who they’re dating or their latest embarrassing social faux pas LOL) Here goes with a quiz on “Last Things”:

028 029Last thing I purchased: Disney Mickey Mouse Ears Aurora Ornament (I want them ALL; so cute and clever!!!)

Last thing I prepared in the microwave: hot water for my tea which I drank at breakfast in this seasonal cup! I got the cup years ago at a charming local stor...
